The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Dorothy Fuldheim because she was the first woman to anchor a television news broadcast, she also hosted her own television show. Dorothy Fuldheim was also an elementary school teacher aside from working in broadcasting. In 1918, Social Activist Jane Addams recruited her to speak about social causes, which also happened to start her career as a public speaker. For the next 19 years of her life, Dorothy Fuldheim was also frequently speaking about topics like foreign policy and social causes. Dorothy Fuldheim is important to me because she inspires me to be a news reporter when I'm older and to also be a public speaker. And lastly she inspires me to try out for the news team in my school next year.

My inspiration is Simone Biles. She is an Olympic gymnastics champion. I would like to celebrate her because she (as a black woman) has shown that anything you set your mind to is possible- whatever your skin colour. Like many other athletes Simone had an inspiration, her two inspirations were Serena Williams and Alex Morgan.Young Biles started gymnastics at the age of 6. She has 5 Olympic medals , she's the first female African-American gymnast to be an all-around world champion. She is now 26 year-old born 14th March 1997. Her quote is “Always work hard and have fun in what you do because I think that's when you're more successful”.

  • Women in the media: what is your opinion?
my opinion is that they are discriminated quite a lot. For example female news reporters are paid less than a male whilst they risk their lives to go into war-torn areas like Gaza. However people may disagree with my opinion as due to them being in Gaza they are seen as more braver than men. My overall opinion is that they are forced to work in Gaza as it is the decision of the chairman for the news channel, it may be a bit different in different countries though
I am basing my comment off of the BBC and the female news reporters in Ukraine and the Middle East.

  • The one woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Malala Yousafzai, because she is truly a remarkable woman who deserves all the celebration this International Women's Day. Despite facing unimaginable challenges and violence, she never wavered in her commitment to advocating for girls' education. Can you believe she survived a Taliban assassination attempt? That's just the tip of the iceberg of her bravery! And what's even more incredible is that she didn't let that stop her – she continued to speak out fearlessly, becoming the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate in 2014. Her story is like a beacon of hope, showing us the transformative power of education and why it's so important to challenge societal norms. Malala's courage and resilience inspire me and countless other women around the world. She's a living example of how education can empower individuals and drive positive change in society. Which is why I would love to celebrate her this women's day, she is a true heroine and my role model. I would love to be like her.
    THANK YOU.

  • The one woman that I think i should celebrate this international women's day is my MOM.
My mom should be my role model because she's been my guiding light throughout my life. She's faced her own set of challenges with grace and strength, always showing me the importance of resolving and determination. Despite any obstacles she's encountered, she's remained kind, compassionate, and unwaveringly supportive of me. Her love knows no bounds, and her endless sacrifices for our family make her a true hero in my eyes. Every day, I'm inspired by her strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. She's not just my mom; she's my mentor, my confidante, and my biggest cheerleader. I can't imagine a better role model to look up to than her. my mom is my source of inspiration ,always and forever .i will always want to be like my mom .i also think that people should make their mom their role model ,because without her ,you wouldn't even have come to the world, making people your role models.thank you

    1. You are right our mothers are one the people who deserve to be celebrated,to one who used to hold you and always be with, holding you tight there is right no other my mother when you used to late up at night she is always the one who wake me up early for school. Some people think that their mothers hate them when they scold them. I want everyone to know that nobody loves you more than your mom. That's why I think that my mom is the best person to celebrate women day with.

    2. focused blackcurrant, I totally agree with you! At first I thought about writing about Malala yousafzai but then I saw some people already wrote about it so I lost hope, so I didn't know what to talk about, I was so blank but when I came across your comment, I was inspired *I never thought to talk about my MOM!* I was really proud cuz I know all of us global conversators and even others that are not part of it know that their mom is their first and best and no matter what we all know that we can't repay our mother for what they have done for us, my mom is the best and I hope that's how everybody feels for it! And then further on, I believe the person I would celebrate international women's day is...
      ...MY MOM
And I believe that non of all the people we choose to celebrate for, are better than our moms!
And I hope everyone feels the same way🤗❤️!

  • The woman I would like to celebrate this International Women's Day is Gitanjali Rao. Gitanjali is an Indian-American scientist, advocate, inventor and social activist who gained recognition for her innovative work, particularly in using technology to address issues like contaminated water and cyberbullying.
I chose Gitanjali because, at a young age, she has already demonstrated exceptional creativity, intelligence, and a strong sense of social responsibility. Her inventions and projects not only showcase her technical prowess but also her deep empathy for others and her commitment to making the world a better place to live. Gitanjali serves as an inspiring example for young girls everywhere, showing them that age is not a barrier to making a positive impact on society.
One of her notable inventions is Tethys, a device that uses carbon nanotubes to detect lead in water, providing a faster and more cost-effective method than traditional techniques.

Beyond her inventions, she actively promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and encourages young people, especially girls, to pursue careers in science and technology.

Her movements inspired millions of students worldwide to take part in a movement which is known as " Fridays For Future ". She fearlessly confronts world leaders and calls for immediate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For this reason she faced a lot of criticism. But still she remains steadfast in her mission to hold governments and corporations accountable for their actions. She has emphasized the importance of scientific evidence. Young youth is inspired by her and they also take part in many movement in shaping the global climate.

She has also drawn attention to the importance of listening to young voices and including them in decision-making processes. She has shown that age is not a barrier in making a significant difference in the world.

By highlighting the urgency of climate crisis and inspiring a generation Greta has become a symbol of hope and catalyst for change. Acknowledging her courage, determination for climate justice makes her an inspirational figure to celebrate this International Women's Day.

  • Good Day Everyone,
On this wonderous day, I would like to celebrate a woman I personally admire, named Sharon Barak. She is the owner of a plastic-alternative company named Solutum. She is a Chemical Engineer who used to work in a plastic company, until she realized the ill-effects of it, and so, left the company and started working on creating biodegradable plastic.
This woman voluntarily left her well - paying job to make our world a better place and to practically clean the artificial mess humans have made. Honestly, she makes me very proud, and inspires me to be like her.
Every year, we produce about 400,000,000 tons of plastic, and 50% of it is only single use plastic. We use it once for a few seconds, we throw it away, and it stays in the environment forever, basically choking all living organisms and killing our environment. Not only that, we even waste about $3.7 Trillion globally to create this menace.
Sharon has fixed all these problems by creating 100% biodegradable plastic. This material looks like plastic, feels like plastic and even functions like plastic, but when you are done using it, you can throw it in water, and it dissolves within seconds. It is so well made, that once dissolved in water, the water is actually drinkable.
I believe people like her should be promoted more, like be shown on the television, in Youtube advertisements etc. just for awareness sake, for such contributions are exactly what we need to heal the world right now.
    Thank You!!

  • The woman from the news that I would like to celebrate, and who deserves the utmost recognition from the world is Yulia Navalnaya. This is due to the fact that she has been a hardworking advocate for the crusade against the Russian regime, following the death of her husband (due to corruption via Putin) she has vowed to continue his legacy and strive to build a "free, peaceful, happy Russia, a beautiful Russia of the future". This shows her reverence and perserverence as no matter the cost (through the death of her husband) she will continue to fight the cause for a free Russia for future generations, against dictatorship. Hence this cause is benefitting Our lives, Our brothers Our sisters and Our future children. Therefore, I believe that she should be celebrated.

  • the woman i would like to refer to is Ioanna Papaspyrou who is said to be a model of strength for every woman and girl in our world. I sould start from her story in order to make you understand my choice and maybe express your point of view. It was 20 of May of 2020 when this 33 year old was attacked with vitrol by another woman who had covered her feature. This incident took place at the entrance of an apartement building where the officed of the insurance company she worked are housed. She was highly damaged everywhere in her body and had to go through a lot of surgeries even risking her life. However she never lost belief in her self and continued trying even under these circumstances. Thats why i am inclined to believe that this woman is the one that should be celebrated in the International Womans Day

  • Hi wonderful folks,
The woman from the news that I feel should be celebrated is Gifty Anti. This is because she is a very influential person who has touched many lives with her foundation. She is a journalist and I love the way that she expresses herself on TV. She is actually one of my favourite news journalist because she can really break down the news for you to understand no matter what age you are. There was this time she made a comment in an interview which said “Regardless of your situation, you can make an impact”. This comment just turned my whole perspective around. I actually thought that when you are in a bad situation, you cannot help anyone. Gifty Anti made me realise that you can be a blessing onto others no matter your issue. She is a philanthropist who usually donates materials to the under- privileged. One amazing fact about her is that before she comes out with a news story, she delves deeper into detail and provides a clear analysis to viewers and listeners. This is the main reason why I always listen to her news stories because she provides reasons and in-depth explanation to what ever she says. I say that Gifty Anti should be celebrated because she makes a positive impact on the youth because of the wise words she speaks and she is devoted to the work she does and makes sure that everything is on point which teaches a lot about her good personality and people can learn from it.
GIFTY ANTI IS MY NUMBER ONE CHOICE.
THANK YOU FOR READING MY COMMENT.
I AM ALWAYS READY FOR ANY CORRECTIONS.

  • The woman i would like to celebrate is the Late Dr. Dora Akunyili. This woman is a very notable person in the history of Nigeria.
She was the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control ( NAFDAC). She started the war against counterfeit drugs when her sister died due to fake insulin injections as part of a diabetes treatment. Any other woman at that time would have just sat there in grief and done nothing. She decided to be the change she wanted to see. She was appointed as the Director General of the NAFDAC agency when girls were still struggling to get education. She showed her support by forming a group of pharmacists and inspectors made up of mostly women who checked and ensured that drugs and other goods were authentic.
Dr. Dora fought relentlessly against the production and spread of fake drugs. Not just in Nigeria, in the whole world fake drugs is like a sword of damocles hanging over our heads. Dr. Dora couldn't just sit back and watch innocent people die. She took the bull by the horns and against all odds, she fought against it. She was able to deliver justice to wrongdoers and create a safer environment for everyone. Though she was not accepted by all because she was a woman, that never mattered to her. She won over 900 awards during her lifetime for her noble and integral acts.
She also sought to create a better environment in total for everyone. She wanted to make sure that all the products being used were top notch and convenient. She wanted everyone to be safe and live a healthy, happy life.
She is really a important part of Nigeria's history. She fought tirelessly to create a safer environment for everyone even though women were not being treated equally. You can't pull up a list of great Nigerian women and not see her name listed there. I think she should be remembered and celebrated for her contributions to Nigeria and mankind at large.

    1. Actually I agree to all what you have said

  • Hello,
The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Emmeline Pankhurst . This is because she was one of the leading women along side Lydia Becker and Millicent Fawcett in the suffragettes protests .
Emmeline was a part of a female group in the 1900s who won the right for women to vote . Emmeline did this by founding the Women's Social and Political Union which was based on 'deeds, not words ' . The members of this group broke windows and assaulted police officers to show they were serious in what they wanted . Emmeline also began a protest of 300 women to get votes and some power in the UK democracy . Emmeline and her daughters received repeated prison sentences where they often set up hunger strikes to get better conditions in which after they were force-fed .
Finally in 1918 Emmeline and her oldest daughter got wanted they wanted and granted men over the age of 21 and women over the age of 30 to be able to vote . This has now also helped women in the 20th century as without the suffragettes women may not be able to vote now .
    Thank you for reading ,
    Good day .

  • One person that I think is a legend that should be commemorated is Lynja, the cooking godmother. She is the most sweet grandma I have ever seen; she was a top chef, and the thing that she enjoyed most about her job was meeting and making her fans happy. So, truly, Lynja is a legend that should be remembered.

And all of that while she survived cancer. All she had wanted was for her fans to enjoy her cooking and have fun. And she wasn't cocky; she graduated as an engineer at MIT and became the cooking godmother, but she was still humble.

After making a video titled "Cookies for Cancer" celebrating curing her cancer, in 2023, it came back. Lynja unfortunately died from medical complications at Riverview Medical Centre in Red Bank, New Jersey, on January 1st, 2024, at the age of 67.

Legends like Lynja will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Lynja. And I hope you are seeing this comment from the heavens.

  • “The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is a Afua Owusu Asantewaa Aduonum because she broke the Guinness World Record for longest sing marathon . She sang for 126 hours without even taking a break to sleep .This record had been set more than 11 years ago by an Indian man called Sunil Waghmare, who was a renowned singer . This inspired a lot of young underprivileged girls not to believe in the stereotype that women belong in kitchen but helped them to understand that what men can do, women can do or sometimes do better . What made it more interesting is that, she is one of the organizers of the Ghana Outstanding Women Awards.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Millie Bobby Brown. This may be a surprising person to choose because when we think of her our minds go to both Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, but she is also a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF - and on top of that she is the youngest ambassador for UNICEF ever.

The large platform she has built through her acting career has allowed her voice to be shared more globally and faster. She is a representative for children across the globe, her main aim is to help vulnerable children. Millie Bobby Brown's background in acting has helped her build her confidence and public speaking ability, which has enabled her to be able to speak in conferences with our world's most prominent activists.

So in conclusion, she is the perfect representation that we can follow our career dreams and help vulnerable and suffering people along the way.

  • The woman/girl from the news I would like to celebrate is Yaa Asantewaa because she was a Queen Mother, a courageous person , a politician and a human rights activist. I choose her because she fought against the British who commanded the chiefs to bring the golden stole which held the spirit and the soul of the nation. The elders of the Ashanti Kingdom quarrelled over how to handle the issue. She stood up strong and offered to lead the war because the men were scared to defend the people of the Ashanti Kingdom. She decided that if the men won't do it then she would take up the challenge. Her last was against traditional gender roles which are :
    1. Women/ girls are supposed to be polite
    2. Accommodating
    3. Nurturing
Whiles men are supposed to be strong, bold and aggressive and those were the traits Yaa Asantewaa was showing.
She led insurgence and became an image of strength and resistance. Woefully she was captured and taken to Seychelles which is approximately 6,417 km from Ghana her motherland. She later on died in exile. In conclusion she should be celebrated because of her strong will and determination to fight for what belonged to her people and to stop all British colonial rule in the Ashanti Kingdom.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Ada Lovelace because she was the first computer programmer.”

At early age,she left home and attended a residential school. From this day,her talent of athletics and climbing was spotted by Dr.Kumar who recommended to join Operation Everest(an organisation that trained young Indians the sport of climbing mountains).

In 2013,she was sent to train in Darjeeling for 8 months. She had to compete with other 21 climbers for a journey in 2014.The first time for her to see Mount Everest, she said to her coach”it will take 1 day to climb it.”It actually took her 52 days to climb it she reached its summit on 25 may 2014 aged 13 years and 11 months. When journalists asked her about her feelings about the journey , she said “It felt incredible to be there and it was a breathtaking adventure”.Later,in 2017 there was a film named “Poorna” which talked about Poorna’s life.

  • Mabel Dove Danquah and
I think Mabel Dove Danquah and Theodosia Salomey Okoh should be celebrated on women's day because.......
Mrs. Dove Danquah was a journalist during the colonial era.
She made sure her opinions were expressed through her published work. Her column in the times of West Africa Newspaper often called on Ghanaians to keep fighting for independence and women especially to play an active role in the fight against colonialism.

In 1954 she became the first female member of Ghana’s legislative assembly. She is also the first woman to be elected into the African Legislative Assembly.

2.Theodosia Salomey OkohShe designed the Ghana flag. In an interview some years back she explained the reason she chose the colours and the design which has now become Ghana’s flag.

“I decided on the three colors of red, gold, and green because of the geography of Ghana. Ghana lies in the tropics and blesses with rich vegetation. The color Gold was influenced by the mineral-rich nature of our lands and Red commemorates those who died or worked for the country’s independence. Then the five-pointed lone star which is the symbol of African emancipation and unity in the struggle against colonialism” she pointed out. She is also the first female head of the Ghana Hockey Association.

  • I believe that Joycelyn London should be celebrated on International Women's Day. She is a young woman who has been actively fighting against climate change and has even won awards for her efforts. Joycelyn took it upon herself to raise awareness about climate change without any government support. She started by talking to herself about her anxiety regarding climate change, and from there, she began sharing her message with friends. This eventually led to her creating an Instagram page called 'Climate in Color'. Through her platform, she shares videos about nature and the environment, inspiring individuals to take action on the climate crisis.

From watching her YouTube video about nature, I have been completely inspired and motivated to help combat climate change. Her message has made me believe that no matter how little we are, no matter our age, no matter how rich or poor we are, we can always make a difference in protecting the environment. She is a new role model for me.

Joycelyn's dedication to fighting climate change is truly remarkable, and even though she knows that she cannot solve this issue alone, she has taken many measures to combat the climate crisis. I believe that her efforts should be celebrated and recognized, as she is an inspiration to us all. We need more people like Joycelyn in the world, and I hope that her work will inspire others to take action on this pressing issue.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Mary Barra because she is a remarkable woman making headlines. She's earned her place in the world by becoming the first woman to be part of the big three automakers. Mary Barra's achievements are truly inspiring, and here's why:

Firstly, Mary Barra has made significant contributions to the automotive industry by investing over a billion dollars in the development of electric and self-driving cars. This forward-thinking approach is not only innovative but also crucial in tackling climate change. Unlike traditional gasoline cars, electric and self-driving cars produce fewer harmful gases, helping to reduce pollution and combat the effects of climate change.

Secondly, Mary Barra's leadership serves as a shining example, especially for women. She has shattered stereotypes and proven that women can excel in traditionally male-dominated industries. By breaking barriers and achieving success in the automotive world, Mary Barra has become a role model for countless individuals, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world.

In conclusion, Mary Barra's groundbreaking achievements in the automotive industry are commendable. Her dedication to innovation and sustainability not only drives the advancement of technology but also inspires future generations, particularly women, to strive for excellence and make their mark on the world. Mary Barra's story reminds us that with determination and vision, anyone can create positive change and leave a lasting impact on society.

  • My mother is the woman I would like to honor. I say this because she has guided me since I was born and instilled in me a strong moral code. In my opinion, my mother is my personal role model as she taught me so many valuable lessons, like how to be patient and trustworthy.
    eager for any corrections
    I'm grateful.

  • The woman that I would like to celebrate is Emma Watson because of her work towards ending gender inequality. Emma is a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and has continuously supported women and feminism, such as her most famous speech at the HeForShe Campaign in 2014. Through her work, she has encouraged more and more people to take a stand against gender inequality and to become feminists. In addition to this, she has emphasised how feminism isn't man-hating, but instead in ensuring that our society is an equitable one where women and men are viewed as equals.

Having grown up in the limelight since the age of 10, due to her role in the Harry Potter film franchise, Emma has experienced plenty of gender inequality. In her speech, she drew upon the fact that she had been named 'bossy' for simply wanting to direct her school plays. This shows how these sorts of discriminatory behaviours can start from an extremely young age as they are drawn into society. Personally, I found her 2014 speech very inspiring and has built onto the admiration that I have had for her since a young age.

Therefore, I believe that it is extremely important to celebrate Emma Watson's previous and ongoing works as she has really brought to light the effects of gender inequality and the reality of gender inequality.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Oriane Bertone . Oriane is a rock climber and she has inspired me a lot and also a lot of other people . Oriane has been marked for climbing greatness . Ever since she completed a V14 [8B+] boulder problem at the age of 12 and she was the first to do it at her age . Oriane is now 18 and continues to climb up her way to the top . I think she inspires a lot of girls her age because she never gives up and if she falls she comes right back up . Also Oriane has won over five competitions and has achieved a lot of metals . Lastly I believe that Oriane Bertone should be celebrated as she is a young and powerful woman and she makes me feel proud that i am a rock climber and that I should never give .!

  • One woman who should be celebrated on International Women's Day is Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As the second female justice to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court, Ginsburg was a trailblazer for gender equality and women's rights. Throughout her career, she fought tirelessly for gender equality, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights, leaving a lasting impact on the legal landscape of the United States. Ginsburg's dedication to justice and equality serves as an inspiration to women around the world.

  • The woman that I will talk about is Fu Mingxia because she was the youngest woman who dived in the world champion ever that was 12 years old. This will not change because, after that competition, new rules were introduced and the minimum age for entry is now 14 years old.

Fu was born on 16 August 1978 into a working class family in China. When she was five years old she began gymnastics but she wasn't flexible enough so the couch adviced her mother to train diving instead of gymnastics. Fu couldn't know how to swim so the couch tied a rope around her waist during the diving training so the couch could pull it up after each dive.

Fu was spotted as a talented diver and moved to Beijing in 1989 to train at a special boarding school as a member of the national diving team. She began to learn platform diving-from a platform 10 meters above the surface of the water . She was scared from the high places but she didn't give up.

As you see from the youngest and the best divers in the world was a girl.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Greta Thunberg because she ia an extraordinary role model to all young people. Her story astonished me about the passion she had for climate age from a very young age.
Born in Sweden and diagnosed later in her teens with asperger syndrome she devoted her teenage years protesting and raising awareness.
I can not forget how her speech in New York astonished me with the phrase How dare you? reacting to insufficient actions of politicians!
    Such a touching moment.
She also was the motivator of the organization Fridays for Future , protests on Fridays about climate change.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate this International Women's Day is Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Jacinda Ardern has been really awesome at leading, especially when things were tough like during the Christchurch mosque shootings and the big COVID-19 pandemic. She always talks about being kind, understanding, and including everyone in decision-making, which is super inspiring to lots of people everywhere. I think Jacinda Ardern deserves recognition for her special leadership style, focusing on wellness and empathy, and striving to advance gender equality and diversity in politics.

  • The two women I will like to celebrate this international women's day is Mary Slessor of Scotland Flora Shaw.

Mary Slessor of Scotland was the women that stopped the "killing of twins in calabar" a state in Nigeria.in this state the believe that twins are evil spirit, for this reason many children were killed and mother's were chased out of the family.
But ,after the intervention of Mary Slessor who was a missionary, that was assigned to calabar in Nigeria, she was able to stop the killing of twins.because of her interest in Right and well-being of women and children.
Mary Slessor is indeed a great woman that deserves to be celebrated.

And I will also like the woman who named our country "Nigeria" to be celebrated, which is Flora Shaw.
Flora Shaw was a British journalist who came to a country as at that time and decided to name a country, which is now known as Nigeria.she gave the name Nigeria because of the niger river that took over the land scape, every part of that area was occupied with water.which led to the name Nigeria meaning "NIGER AREA".

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Nigar Shaji, the project director of India’s first solar mission- Aditya L1, because of the magnificent feat she has achieved. Shaji , who has been with ISRO from 35 years, undertook the leadership of India’s very first solar mission, studying the sun. She has truly broken all gender hierarchies and traditional clutches by achieving this coup. This project will not only help Indians but the entire world discover more about our Sun and the universe. She’s taken the phrase ‘ No glass ceiling’ literally by breaking all glass shackles of the society and reaching for the stars! She overcame the societal pressure on women and is truly an inspiration for today’s youth and an embodiment of showcasing that women can rattle the stars, only if they truly aim to! Nigar Shaji is the one who all females should look up to as she is a reminder, whenever one may feel under confident, that confidence and courage are the keys to unlock the door of success.
    Thank you

She was the one who stood up for women's rights if savitribai phule has not done this great impact so the girls in topical talk would not be participating in this festival. The British also made an impact towards women empowerment I am proud of this Indian revolutionary woman SAVITRIBAI PHULE . She died on 10 March 1897 ( age 66 ). she always said in educating women, we educate generations and shape a just society.

    Thank you

  • Okay, here's my answer: "The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Blessing Okagbare, a Nigerian sprinter.Blessing is an incredible athlete. She has won many medals in international competitions, including the Olympics and World Championships. But what's even more impressive is her journey to success. She has had to overcome many challenges, including growing up in poverty and having very little support from her family. She has also had to deal with racism and sexism in the world of athletics. Despite all of these challenges, she has managed to succeed and become one of the most successful female athletes in Africa. I think this makes her story especially inspiring for young women and girls who may be facing similar challenges.

I choose Blessing because she is an inspiration to many women in Nigeria and around the world. She is one of the fastest female sprinters in Africa, and she has overcome many obstacles to achieve her success. She is a role model for hard work, determination, and perseverance. I think that Blessing's story should be celebrated this International Women's Day."

  • An Indian woman worth celebrating on International Women's Day is Arunima Sinha. She is a remarkable Indian woman who exemplifies courage, resilience, and determination. Despite facing a tragic incident where she was thrown off a moving train by robbers, resulting in the loss of one of her legs, Arunima did not let this setback define her. Instead, she turned adversity into opportunity by becoming the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest. Her extraordinary achievement not only showcased her physical strength and mental fortitude but also inspired people around the world, especially those with disabilities, to pursue their dreams and overcome obstacles. Arunima Sinha's indomitable spirit and her message of perseverance and hope make her a truly inspirational figure to celebrate on International Women's Day.

  • The woman from the news I would gladly celebrate is Ibtihaj Muhammad. Ibtihaj Muhammad in 2016 became the first Muslim woman to represent the U.S at Olympics, where she won a bronze medal and was the first Olympian to wear a hijab. That same year, she was on the 100 most influential people list.
She really made a great impact on people especially on the females, " You can become whatever you want to become regardless of your tribe, religion, color, race"etc.
She is really a great woman, and should be one of the most celebrated woman in the world, Because being the first to do something that nobody has ever done before is really a great achievement.
I hope you give me a star because nobody has ever thought of this. Looking forward to seeing your reply.
Happy international women's day in advance.
    Thanks!

  • The only women that should be celebrated are moms and scientists, because a mom teach her children everything ,and so they might do something impressive for the community as Tomas Edison's mother she taught him everything until he was a great inventor .Women who are scientists give us much knowledge, but some women do nothing except talking to her friends in a restaurant or a club .These women don't need to be celebrated ,because they doesn't help the community.

    1. Hi willing_impression, thanks for sharing. Your comment makes it seem like you have some negative gender biases against women. What could you do to work on these so that you can become more open-minded and to prevent yourself from accidentally spreading harmful stereotypes?

  • Hello 👋

The woman who I like to celebrate on International Women's Day is Ophra Winfrey. curiously, I searched a lot to find who I needed to celebrate moreover I watched to learn the story of everyone diligently. I found that Ophra Winfrey is the responsible one.

She was born in 1954 in Mississippi. She had a problem because of racism and gender inequality as well as she was black.
She was pregnant at the age of fourteen years but her son died and at the same age, she began to work. Firstly, She worked in a store which was grocery store after that, when she was 17 years she won miss black then she became a breakthrough and went to the radio moreover she worked as a producer and actress.

She won a bunch of achievements such as an Oscar winner,4 Golden Globe awards, and more, also she became the richest billionaire woman with 2.8 billion dollars.

  • The woman from the news that I'd like to celebrate is Narges Mohammadi, Iranian human rights activist and Nobel laureate. I found out about her on the news when she won the Nobel Prize for Peace last year. She fights against the oppression of women in Iran and to promote human rights and freedom for all.
She is such an inspiration to me. I admire her bravery and courage and most especially her ability to confidently fight for her beliefs, even in the face of opposition. She has been arrested 13 times and been sentenced to a total of 31 years in prison and 154 lashes, but she still continues to fight for human rights.
Her bravery inspires me and I believe that she is a role model for women, encouraging them not to give up or back down when fighting for what they know is right.

  • The woman from the news I would love to celebrate is a female journalist and also a female rights activist who goes by the name Jummai Madaki. She is an indigene of Plateau state and is known for advocating for women rights and gender equality. I was opportuned to go for a programme where she happened to be a guest speaker and after I heard what she had to say, I knew I had found a role model.

I feel this woman should be celebrated because she has chosen to dedicate her time, talent and effort into fighting against gender-based violence and seeking for justice for the victims. Although there are not many female journalists or female rights activist in Plateau this woman has chosen to stand out and speak up for all the women who have not been heard. This woman has shown me what it is to be a true journalist and the honor in the profession, she taught me what it is to be a voice for the people and she proved to me that women can really make a difference, it all depends on your effort. She has shown me that women really have a voice and can be heard it all depends on how much effort and dedication they put in.

  • I think that I will like to celebrate every woman because it has been long since we celebrated women. The government should just make time to make women happy and celebrate them. We should celebrate women because the are they ones who multiply our generation and they our helper.

    1. Are they the only ones who help?

  • I would like to celebrate the life of Dora Akunyili. She was a former NAFDAC agent who dedicated her life to fighting against counterfeit drugs and fake food. She was able to raise awareness about the issue and fight against it in her community with all her efforts. Unfortunately, she has passed away, but her legacy will continue to inspire future generations to be aware of the dangers of fake drugs.
    Thanks!👍🏻.

  • Hi,
The woman I would like to celebrate is Queen Elizabeth II. She was a wonderful monarch, who stood by her country until the very end. It can be seen when she had a meeting with what was at the time, the new Prime Minister (Liz Truss), just two days before her death. Liz Truss later stated, "Earlier this week, at 96, she remained determined to carry out her duties as she appointed me as her 15th Prime Minister." When you are on the verge of death, it takes true determination to stand by a promise you made to your country 70 years before.

  • I would really like to write not about a woman from the news buy a woman from my life.
I'd like to write about my mother. I would like to celebrate her because she brought me to life. She loves me and we spend hours of fun together. I own so much to that woman because without her I would be nothing.
She encourages me to keep trying with the things I want to accomplish.
Today she is working so hard to help me with myself school.
I love that woman so much!

    1. Thank you for sharing this lovely comment :)

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Dorothy Fuldheim because she was the first woman to anchor a television news broadcast, she also hosted her own television show.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Maria Kallas or LA Divina because she was a great personality and a professional opera singer that marked the opera stage and that of Scalla in Milan.
Regardless of the criticism she had from her mother, she never gave up to follow her dream.
She had a natural authority on stage and her vocals were unimaginable.
It doesn't matter that she is not around us, we still can celebrate her talent and what she had achieved.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Wendela Hebbe because, as recorded in the 1800s, she was a woman journalist that was born in 1808 but died in 1899. I wanted to celebrate her because, she was the FIRST permanent employed woman journalist! As recorded in her history, she had three jobs which were, first being a journalist, writer, and salon hostess. She is a Swedish woman and was arguably the first permanent employed female at a Swedish Newspaper. Wendela Hebbe was the eldest of the three daughters that her mother birthed (also meaning older and that she was born early), the sisters names were: Anders Samuel Åstrand and Maria Lund. She was described as a child who was encouraged to read, explore music, art and literature. She also described that she was talented within music and literature. Her nickname was "Miss Inquisitive" because of her well known talents and good personality. Who she married was a lawyer, and writer named Clemens Hebbe who was born in the year 1804 and died in 1893. Wendela Hebbe had three daughters like the population of her and her sisters when her mother birthed them. However something came very very terrible in the year of 1839. At that period (year 1839), Wendela's spouse went bankrupt and she fled the country! Now that I heard this, I felt miserable, and sad to feel a person having to get the time of that year that she just got bankrupt, and that she turned poor. As this is the reason why this makes me sad, I talk about this person because she was a hard working mother, a very important woman in the country of Sweden's history but that also that we may share this time, with her to have joy again. As her life continues, I seek to find her presence, and good personality, but to also then have joy and fun for everybody I see for it is written in the bible, "Above all, let your love for one another be intense for love covers a multitude of sins." - 1Pt 4:8. I pray to her that she is in heaven for her hard work especially for her torture! And that I pray to you too also for you brothers and sisters at the end of time may we go become the children of god. Amen. May god bless you for reading this.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for her impactful literary contributions and advocacy for gender equality. Through her writing and activism, she has inspired countless individuals globally, challenging societal norms and championing the rights of women and marginalized communities with unparalleled eloquence and conviction.
    Thank you

  • I do think that there is still discrimintion and sexualisation still visible today in society by women which people say isnt there. Women are told they are too emotional, too childish, not slim enough, not mature, overreacters and much more. When I scroll on any media thats all I see which I think is extremely unhealthy to read but thats all I see. Society never recognises women for good things untill there is bad which is wrong. Although in the media there is amazing women that we should talk about on international women day. An important woman in media we need to talk about more in Elizabeth Olsen who you may say is just an actress but she is so much more in fact she is a incredible woman who fights for change.
You may know the names Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who were huge child acters in the late 1990s and early 2000s who happen to be Elizabeths siblings. Her siblings rose to fame at very young ages and were very successful. Elizabeth did appear in a few of their projects but went unnoticed. As she grew up she became inspired by this but instead of choosing follow in her siblings footsteps fully she chose be an actress and rise to fame in her own way. She performed in broadway until an agent noticed her pure talent and requruited her. In 2014 she performed her first movie as a victim of a cult and won critics' choice award for best actress which is huge for a small actress allowing her fame skyrocket. In her own right she achieved grand things still on going at 35.
She also started working with sexual abuse victims in 2016 to speak up about the mistreatment of women which is seen as a massive taboo in society with it bieng ignored and skim read. She chose to bring up this when most women famous or not choose ignore for justise and truth for these victims of a sickening reley of crimes performed. She supports the LGBTQ standing up for their rights and how they are treated.
This is someone in the media we need talk about more even if she is an actress she proves she is so much more.

  • The woman that I would love to celebrate from the news is Annie Nightingale(this may not be in the news but it is in The Week)! This is because she was the first female DJ on Radio 1.She was known as the 'Queen of Breaks',because she loved a break-beat,a drum pattern used in hip hop and dance music. However she never got stuck into a particular music style.Instead,Nightingale told a magazine, "I listen to what 13-year-olds listen to because that's the future."She became the first female DJ on BBC Radio 1 in 1970,3 years after it launched in the UK.The station was set up for housewives to listen to at home and the first presenters were all men because BBC bosses thought women would like listening to men when their husbands were out at work.Nightingale said,"I found that ridiculous," and fought her way on to the team.At first, Nightingale had no radio experience and no one taught her the technical side of being a radio DJ.On her first day, she accidentally pressed the wrong switch ,while she was playing a record, resulting in an 8 second silence!Imagine how you would feel if you messed up on your first day! However, listeners soon loved her and she stayed on Radio 1 for the rest of her career, last appearing on air in December 2023.She died in January and other DJs and presenters payed their tribute.I believe that she deserves all of the celebration on International Woman's Day!

  • Hello,
I would like to celebrate malala Yousafzai since in my opinion she was fighting for the most significant right which is girl's right to go to school. Malala is a Pakistani activist who was the youngest Nobel peace prize winner. She had become the icon in the battle of girl's rights in addition for becoming the icon of justice according to girls especially Pakistanis. In my perspective, malala Yousafzai is a great and successful inspiration for all girls out there. She was essentially promoting justice and inequality which may seem an ever so important and amazing thing but unfortunately, due to that she got shot in the head during an assassination. There is absolutely no excuse or reason for recklessly killing an innocent women who was fed up of racism who decided to be the only voice of girl's rights or peace In general. She's just a women who wants to experience her rights. Justice essentially needs to be prioritized as top priority since these are the consequences of inequality. I think people who are capable of contributing women's rights or Girl's rights or gender equality should genuinely be praised.

  • The woman I really think should be celebrated on international Women's Day is the late Coco Chanel. Gabrielle Bonheur ''Coco'' Chanel was a French designer who lived from August 19, 1883 to January 10, 1971 and is known for her designs that stressed on simplicity, later revolutionising the fashion industry. The reason why I think she should be celebrated is because she was very courageous, head-strong and determined. About four (4) years after she started her fashion career, the First World War (WW1) began. However, she never gave up on her fashion career and continued to push towards her goals. My admiration for her is truly beyond comparison because she inspires me to be the best version of myself, to never let people put me down and to achieve whatever I want to even when I have no one on my side. May she always be remembered as a legend and an inspiration and role model to others like she is to me.

    1. I really like that you used an example from your culture and community. Irene Papas sounds like a very inspirational woman!

  • I genuinely agree with the option"B" because all the women have many responsibilities with them and also want to support their family and the world. I want to give a little example about my mother, she is a very hardworking woman, teaching her children to become something big in their lives. All the women are very awesome, they do not deserve to celebrate for only one day. Its hard to celebrate everyday but all the people should make all the women in this world very happy and blessed. Thank you..

    1. Your mother sounds like a very wonderful woman, I'm sure she would be so honoured to know you think of her this way.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Clara Zetkin.Clara Zetkin was the founder of International Women's Day. He was born in Germany. Clara Zetkin was the first to establish International Women's Day. Clara Zetkin played an important role in women's rights right from her education. If Clara Zetkin hadn't established the International Women's Day that we celebrate today on 8th March, we might not be able to celebrate this day. That's basically why I want to celebrate that woman on International Women's Day. Although he is no longer alive in this world now, he will live on in all of our hearts for his outstanding contribution. Thanks.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Rosa Parks because she was the first one to protest against the racial system by not giving up her seat on the bus to a white man on December 1, 1995. She is called the "mother of the civil rights movement." This action of hers resulted in people to demand for racial equality. She is known for her struggle against racial discrimination, injustice and unfair treatment of the Africans.

  • I would like to talk celebrate Aicha Evans because she inspires me to see just how much somebody can do regardless of race or gender obstacles as she developed and helped in the innovation of many major modern technologies including the 5G network we use today, and on top of all of that she is still the CEO of a self-driving car company called Zoox and even though I am not a girl I still feel encouraged to be a more innovative person.

  • I think the woman who really needs to be celebrated on womens day is the first African woman to win the nobel peace prize and also the first African woman to stand up for trees, Wangari Maathai.
Wangari Maathai is from Kenya. She loved trees and stood up for what she loved, she was not too scared to fight for what she loved. She has been an inspiration to both African men and women all over the world. She loved planting trees and eventually, she created a movement called the Green Belt movement. Her impact is still felt even after her death because the green belt movement have so many achievements like training women in occupations lik beekeeping which help them earn money and still help the environment. Wangari Maathai is a woman who has made impact in the fight against climate change. The green belt movement have planted over a million tees now. I really think Wangari Maathai needs t be celebrated.

  • It is sad that the women in Nigeria in the past were treated unfairly in education, pay, job opportunities etc. No matter how hard the women tried they were treated unfairly one way or another. I would like to celebrate Malala Yousafzai because she way one of the women that helped women to have equal right to education. The women race now has the right to fair education. She was also one of the people that helped to stop women from being targeted.
    THANK YOU.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Funmilayo Ransome Kuti because she is a role model for some women ang girls in my country. She is their role model because she was the first woman to drive a car in my country Nigeria and that was against the law because; before in the past women were not allowed to drive cars and go to school, but guess what, Funmilayo changed all that, she broke the rules and drove a car.
This is proof that she was not selfish because she broke the rules so that all women will be able to go to school and drive freely instead of having to enter and go to your destination through public transport, they will also be able to learn just like the opposite gender, the males.
Women will be free to go to school and drive cars, they will be free and this will cause great happiness to all women and girls in my country Nigeria thanks to Funmilayo Ransome Kuti. The one thing she did that caught my attention was to break rules for all women in my country so that they will be able to go to school and drive cars also. Is this not kindness and love for the females in my country.
    THANK YOU.

  • The woman/girl from the news I would like to celebrate is Mrs Dora Akunyili because some time ago I was taught about her by my N.V.E teacher. The reason I picked Mrs Dora Akunyili as the woman/girl from the news that i would like to be celebrated although she is late is because she was awarded many awards but that of "Honesty" stood out and that is why she should be celebrated for her honesty and I will also like to be like her.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Melina Mercury because it represents in the best way a Greek powerful woman.
She isn't alive but still they talk about her and her achievements.
She was an actor, a politician, an activist and a tough woman to encounter with concerning many political issues.
She has won many prizes in Cannes Film Festival, Golden globes but the most successful achievement was being the first female Minister of Culture and sport in Greece.
She was a political activist and she achieved Athens to be the first European Capital of Culture.
I admire her dynamic personality and I hope more of these female figures will represent our women in my country.

  • i believe that women can be treated unfairly sometimes but men also have some biological advantages like they can build muscle faster so in certain jobs men can be more fitting to a man

the woman i would like to represent is MALALA YOUSAFZAI, because she fought for her education because it was her right to be treated as an equal to any boy her age but she was attacked because of this and is now representing girls from all over the world who are being treated differently because of the way they are i believe that she is one of the strongest female representatives of our time and she is an inspiration for us all.

I believe she should be celebrated greatly because while working with anthor instprinal woman named Mariam al-Otaibi, they invented glasses for people with cerebral blindness that would help them in identifying objects, The glasses scan the area in front of the person wearing them and then narrates it to the person with an earpiece connected. This invention helped so many people around the world, helping people improve their lives so greatly. Also both Bedour and Mariam are inspirations to all little girls who look like them, that no matter what religion, enthincy, or gender you are, you can make a difference and help people all around the world greatly just by believing in yourself and what you can do.

  • I personally believe that Miss Taylor Swift should be recognised. I completely understand that she is very well known and recognised already and is loved by most but i think this is even more reason to appreciate her because she is such an icon and an idol to lots of people most of witch are young girls who need someone to look up to. Don't get me wrong there are many brilliant women to deserve to have their moment i just think that Taylor Swift with her eras tour and new album coming out [the torched poets department] she is the women to be talking about and giving her that love for her and her music. Basically Miss swift is an idol and loved by most and she deserved credit.

she had five children: Christabel Pankhurst, Sylvia Pankhurst, Elizabeth Tudor and MORE

Siblings: Mary Jane Clarke, Walter A Goulden, MORE
    Parents: Robert Goulden, Sophia Goulden
    Grandchildren: Elizabeth Tudor, Richard Pankhurst

    Thanks!

  • I want to begin by saying that all women are spectacular and those who come out on the news are even more terrific, but this year the woman that stood out to me was nobody other than Joycelyn Longdon. I would really love to celebrate her because of her traits, characteristics and accomplishments. Joycelyn is a very motivational person who I actually did not get to know about until I began to take part in this festival. I love her because of what she has done so far and the progress she has made in tackling eco-anxiety. I personally was discouraged on the whole issue of eco-anxiety until really getting to know how she came up and the way she persevered, she is a really hardworking person who got up from the lows to be what she is today. She is informative, educative and very impactful and she continues to help those suffering from eco-anxiety. She is just very wonderful and I just wanted to bring her to the light because... she is a very good activist that is bringing an end to the eco-anxiety crisis and I just really want to commend her for her work.

    THANKYOU.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Mazie Hirono. I would like to celebrate her because Hirono she is the first elected female senator from Hawaii. She is also on the first Asian-American woman selected for senate. She is and many other woman leaders are making history right before our eyes.

  • The woman/girl from the news I would like to celebrate is Elizabeth Gloucester because she was born into slavery and even then by the end of her life, she embodied a new model of Black, feminist capitalism. She was a hero for black people she was setting an example for black WOMEN for improvement.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Rosa because of her significance in the 1960s. Rosa Parks stood up for herself because she did not want to let her seat on a bus get taken. This shows that she can speak up for herself. Without Rosa Parks, many movements would not have taken place.

  • It doesn't have to be a famous person but for me the woman I want to celebrate is my grandmother because she is such a generous person .
Her characteristics are unique and I wish I could have them .
She is a person that wants to help and give to other people without asking anything back.
She was providing housing and food for a person that didn't have somewhere to live . This kind act is so rare in our days that I do hope people would be more affectionate to people in need than just passing them by.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is the one and only Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama was the first black first lady of America and probably the only one. She played a successful role in the campaign of her husband, former president of the United States, Barack Obama. In 2008 she was named woman of the year. She was the person that initiated the stop child obesity movement to change how many children in the 21st century are obese. She is an inspiration to many girls of colour to not be afraid to live their dreams and tep out of their comfort zones to do great things.

  • The women from the news I would like to celebrate is Begum Rokeya because she fought for women's liberation and women's education throughout her life. she brought the message of light to the dark world of the women in the society. All the root all her actions was the dream of women's liberation. To implementation this dream, she took up the pen on the hand and on the other hand showed the search for new hope for women. That is why she is still know as the "pioneer of women's awaking".

Begum Rokeya has since been unable to receive the formal education due to the strict veiling system. But,with a strong interest in education and the help of some people, she became self-educated. Thus, she realized importance of women's education. she first established the Shakhawat Memorial's Girls School on 1st October 19o9. At the time, the number of students in the school was 5. she then established this school in Kolkata at its nascent stage in 1911 with only 8 students. By 1916, the number of female students crossed 100.She also conducted many adventure for spread of women's education by founding various organisations, participating in conferences etc. Begum Rokeya tried to make people aware about women's rights by writing literatures. she first composed " Pipasa"in 1902 . she also tried to create a conscious society by writing "Sultanaz Dream ","Matichur "etc.

Begum Rokeya's contribution to the spread of women's education is immense. I believe that women are now being educated in modern education, much of which is due to Begum Rokeya's contribution.
    Thank you.

  • The woman from the news that I would like to celebrate is Marie Curie, the pioneering physicist and chemist, was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields. Her amazing discoveries include the isolation of radium and polonium, advancements in the understanding of radioactivity, and contributions to medical science through the development of X-ray technology and radiation therapy. Curie's work created a base for modern atomic physics and revolutionized the field of medicine. She remains an iconic figure in scientific history, celebrated for her perseverance, and profound contributions to science and society.

  • The woman from the news that I will like to celebrate is “Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela” the CEO of World Trade Organization. As a result of her fights for women rights, she was under pressure from her other contestants for the position to step down from the position because she was a woman, but she eventually won. She had been a patient and kind hearted person who had helped and supported the poor in her country severally. Yet many still oppose her/ are against her to ensure she leaves the position which will not have been if she were a man. Despite all the challenges and social pressure she faced even from her continent because of her gender, she ignored all of them and remained positive always. Many even believed she will come last in the contest for the position but she eventually won.
This teaches me and everyone that we should stay positive always and not get discouraged by what people are say against our desire to achieve great things or make a difference. If we believe in ourselves, we can achieve great things.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Rosa Parks because she was called "the mother of the civil rights movement," Rosa Parks invigorated the struggle for racial equality when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. Parks' arrest on December 1, 1955 launched the Montgomery Bus Boycott by 17,000 black citizens.
She stood up for black citizens rights and it clearly shows that what a diverse and powerful planet or world is.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is, Oprah Winfrey. She is a influential black woman in media and she is the richest African American of the 20th century which inspires young black girls like me to make a contribution. Oprah has influenced so many young girls to follow their dreams. She showed resilience when people told her that she couldn’t do it and she did it anyway. She was the first Black woman to own her own production company which also inspires young girls like me to make an influence on society. I would love to celebrate her because, she is my role model, she made me realize that I have strength and resilience to do anything I set my mind towards, and she showed me bravery and courage now I can conquer any task. That’s why I believe that Oprah Winfrey should be celebrated this International Women’s Day.

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is my grandmother because she is the bravest and the most hardworking person I have ever met. My grandmother used to live in the villages. In our country or the society most of the people think that after marriage women should not work otherwise they should depend on their husbands money. This incident happened with my grandmother when she married her husband. But she was a brave and talented so she started doing farming. She worked hard day and night and started earning her own money and became independent. The problem that I just described is the main problem of our country, this can managed with the help of media by publishing magazines or books that changes a lot of people thinking style and especially inspires women to do something big in their lives. Thank you...

  • When I think of a helping woman Elizabeth Cady Stanton stands out the most.
She was a woman who fought for women and their rights. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was and still is a role model.
Her friend Susan B Anthony was doing the same thing as her. they are both well known for fighting for women so that's another thing they had in common.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the first feminist in America. She was also the first American leader in the women's rights movement with Susan along her side every step of the way. No matter what, they didn't give up even when they got so much hate from men but, they still earned the right for women to vote and have equal rights. Not only that she earned the right for women rights she also helped many people to end slavery like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, or Abraham Lincoln. She did everything so yes she should be celebrated on International Women’s Day, because its always great looking back at what she did to remind women how we got respect in the first place.

  • Emily Wilding Davison

The woman I would like to celebrate is Emily Davison because she is a local hero in Epsom (where my school is located). I think she is inspirational to not only women and girls but also men and boys. She risked her life in 1913, to show her strong passion for women’s rights by jumping in front of the king’s horse at the annual ‘Epsom Derby’ horse races. She tragically passed away after jumping in front of the horse, but she definitely made the difference that she wanted to make.

  • I just wanted to share with you about a wonderful woman I came across in the news - Sania Mirza. She is an exceptional tennis player from India, who has achieved great success both nationally and internationally. Her career started when she won the Wimbledon Championships Girls' Doubles title in 2003. I really admire her dedication towards her dreams and the way she has overcome all obstacles to reach where she is today. Her parents have played a huge role in supporting her, especially her father who taught her tennis. I believe that if more parents can support their daughters like Sania's, then women can achieve great victories in the future.

  • Florence Nightingale
The woman/Girl from the news I would like to celebrate is Florence Nightingale because to me she is a worldwide hero she is the first nurse, she is the mother of modern day nursing I think that she should be celebrated because she made a great impact in the world, she wrote 200 books, pamphlets and aticles on nursing she established the st Thomas hospital and the nightingale training school for nurses in 1860 she developed on the medicine being practiced and reformed into what we have to day.from my research from "history.com", her experience in the Crimean war gave her a vast and wide knowledge in medicine.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Judith Heumann she was an american activist. She is also considered as the mother of disability right movement. She was such a great women that she worked in her entire life for the disabled people and thats why I think if she would exists I'll celebrate this international women's day with her and even she died 4 days before international women's day so I believe she is an inspiration for us and we should never forget her contribution.
    Thank you!!

  • My inspiration is Simone Biles.

  • Knowing that 8th March is fast approaching sets a feeling of joy in my heart because it is a period where the entire womanhood is being celebrated. On that note, the woman from the news that I would like to celebrate is no other person but Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela. She is a Nigerian-American economist, born on 13th June 1954 in Delta state. Dr. Ngozi has attained prestigious heights in the sight of many who know what it takes to value high standards and principles. Amongst her many achievements are; being the Director-General of the World Trade Organization since March 2021 the first woman to lead the World Trade Organization as a Director-General. Furthermore, she had served as the first Nigerian woman to serve two terms as the Finance Minister to mention but a few.
As a woman, she went against all odds to break barriers where people had attempted and failed. In a society like ours, especially during the earlier times when the job fronts were mostly dominated by men, makes me imagine her determination. I can only imagine the number of times she was ridiculed by her male counterparts and told to go take her place in the kitchen. She grew up in a society in Nigeria where male supremacy was prioritized. In the early times, educating a girl-child seemed like a total waste of time and resources because it was believed that her place was in the kitchen and the home front. After all she will end up getting married to a man and bear his name, but her father valued education and allowed her to set the pace.
She is an inspiration to me because she didn’t misuse the opportunity she got, she has proven to be amongst those who utilized opportunities given to them and has made me look up to her as a role model. One day I would love to make an impact just like her in my society and even the world at large.

  • Dear Topical Talkers....
I do think that the women's day would be Incomplete without celebrating...
    Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie...
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a renowned Nigerian author known for her captivating storytelling and powerful narratives that explore themes such as identity, race, gender, and cultural dynamics. Born on September 15, 1977, in Enugu, Nigeria, Adichie grew up in Nsukka, where she was raised by her parents, who were both university professors.
Adichie gained even more international recognition with her second novel, "Half of a Yellow Sun" (2006), which won the Orange Prize for Fiction. Set during the Nigerian Civil War, the novel intricately weaves together the lives of several characters, offering a poignant portrayal of love.
And I personally beleive that she has made an impact both in my life and in the life of many others....
She really needs to be celebrated, dear topical talkers....
    What do you think?

  • The woman from the news I would want to see celebrated in this International Women’s is Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Because I saw her in the news in 2021 when she was announced as the first woman and African to serve as the director general of the world trade organization.
I was amazed see an African, a Nigerian being in the world news as the director general of an organization as big as the World Trade Organization. It tells so much about how powerful women can be and how successful they can get when they are given a chance at leadership. Thank you.

  • The person I would like to be celebrated on International Women's Day is Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah Winfrey came from a humble background to become one of America's most influential women. Winfrey has amassed a great fortune through her media and publishing interests and uses her fame and wealth to positively influence the lives of people in need.

Born Orpah Winfrey on January 29, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi - USA, but now goes by the name of Oprah. At a young age, Winfrey's parents separated and sent her to live with her grandparents in very poor surroundings until the age of 6 when she moved to live with her mother. She endured various hardships until she was 14 when Winfrey moved to live with her father in Nashville Tennessee.
Oprah Winfrey's career in the media industry began as a news anchor and reporter for a television station in Nashville (although she also worked in radio during high school as a newscaster). She was the first black African American woman television news anchor to work in Nashville on the WTVF-TV station at the young age of 19. She was able to be herself and express her own opinions and share her true feelings about topics that moved her in the media.
Winfrey's business and personal interests are wide-ranging and she has managed to accomplish success in several areas.
I would like her to be well celebrated because she is indeed a great role model to me.

  • I think Emily Davison is one of the most inspirational women to me. Women were not allowed to vote. Lots of women found this unfair and upsetting. On June 4th 1913, she decided to risk her life by running in front of the king’s horse at the Epsom Derby for the voting protest. She sadly died while doing it.
A few years later the government decided to let women vote. Emily Davison died a hero.

  • Taylor Swift

I think Taylor swift is the most inspirational woman to me because she has been nominated for 500 awards and has won 324 of them. She has gone on 6 concert tours and has made 14 albums. She has also won the Grammys this year. She won ‘Album of the year’ with her album, Midnights. She announced a new album called ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. She is one of the biggest music artists in the world and I think she deserves to be celebrated.
She just shows that anything is possible!

  • I would like to celebrate Ellie Simmonds because she is a famous
swimmer with dwarfism, she is an inspiring person to lots of people especially to people with the same condition as her.She shows that no matter who you are and what condition you have, you can still follow your dreams. She spreads awareness to people who may have similar disabilities to her.FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS NO MATTER YOUR CONDITION OR DISABILITY!

  • Tina Turner

Tina Turner is definitely a huge inspiration to many people after being one of the best singers of all time and being black. She was born on November 26th,1939 in Tennessee. She met Ike Turner at a performance by his band and soon joined them. They had tough luck finding success until 1960 when A fool in love hit the pop charts. In 1962 Ike and Tina Turner got married . In 1978 Tina got a divorce Ike after he was very abusive. Ike took drugs and did horrible and inhumane things to Tina. Unfortunately, she didn’t announce this until 1981 so the public were left confused as to why one of the best musical duo had broken up. She was broke and records didn’t want to take a risk by signing her as a solo. In 1984 she released her debut solo album and it sold more than 20 million copies. It won her 3 Grammy awards. It was announced when she died on May 24 she was fighting high blood pressure, kidney disease and intestinal cancer for many years. She passed after fighting these illnesses. For these reasons I think she should be celebrated as she fought through everything and was still one of the most popular singers ever .

  • Marie Curie
    (1867-1934)

Marie Curie is an inspirational and fabulous woman; she was the 1st female scientist. She also inspired many other young women with a passion for science to pursue their dreams. She was awarded two nobel prizes: physics (1903) at only the age of 26 and chemistry (1911) at the age of 34 for the discovery of polonium and radium on addition to that she saved over a million soldiers with her X-rays to try and find pieces of shrapnel (sharp pieces of metal) stuck in their bodies. She also tried very hard to discover a cure for cancer and she made a huge impact on it by using radium to treat it. Unfortunately her life was cut short when she sadly died of aplastic anaemia at the age of 67.

  • The women from the news I would like to celebrate is "Jamak Kumari Ghimire". She is an writer who writes with her toes. The reason that she writes with her toes is she was born with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is disorder which affect the person ability to move and maintain body posture.
She was not allowed to do the things that a normal person does because of her disability. So, she is self-taught. She learned to read and write by mimicking her younger siblings.
She is known for her auto- biography " Jiwan kada ki phool". This book has shown a very cruel face of our society. This book is delicated to her own life. Like this book, she has written many books which delves into social issues, hard political, intellectual with some expression of love, regret, sadness.
She has also won so many awards for her writing literature. Some of the awards are aswikrit bichar sahitya puraskar, Madan puraskar ( an special award given to writer for their contribution in Nepalese literature), etc.
I choosed her because she believed on herself that she can also do something. She showed the world that nothing can stop her from the things that she wants to do, not even a disability.
"Great things will only happen, if we have hope, determination and positive approach."
    Thank you!

  • The woman that I would like to raise attention to is Sarina Wiegman - England women’s manager. She has been on a football journey for pretty much the whole of her life. As a child, she loved to play football, but she could not play in a girls’ football team so she had to play with the boys. She grew up like this. When she got older, she played professionally, and then she became England women’s football manager. She has been very successful as England’s manager; she won Euros (2022) and she got to the final of the World Cup (2023). Sarina has won ‘manager of the year’ four times!
I think that Sarina Wiegman should be praised a lot more. I do not think that everybody realised what an incredible woman she is.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Grace Alele-Williams, this is because she was a woman who did the things that some men couldn’t do!
At the time she was directing the institute of education, she helped older women working in elementary schools get certificates through the introduction of an innovative non degree program showing her interest in the education of the girl child and women. She was the first female vice-chancellor at the University of Benin in 1985, and all the higher education institutions in Nigeria, she studied Mathematics helping a lot of people stay motivated to expand their brain capacity.
Even her choice of career is something challenging because it involves rigorous thinking and mental coordination. Being a Nigerian professor of Mathematics and also an educator. Grace Alele-Williams impacted lives and allowed people to see the motherly empathy that a woman could exhume. As a one time vice-Chancellor in the University of Benin, at a time when cultism was prevalent in the institution she went out to plead with the students to shun all social vices and embrace good virtues, on that day she was ridiculed and even made to dance. She did all those things because her interest was to make sure that she could speak into the lives of the students whom she saw as her children, to me, it is a form of humility and motherly virtue in her. With such a gesture, she brought reformations to her society because she was an upright woman.
Grace was born on 16th December 1932 and died on 25th March 2022.

  • The woman/girl from the news I would like to celebrate is Greta Gerwig. She is more famously known for being the director of Barbie, as well as many other influential movies, like Little Women. I think she deserves to be celebrated because she is an amazing representative of women in the film production industry. There are less women than men in that industry, so by making films, that also have a deeper meaning about feminism, it makes people aware of these directors.

  • The woman is Emma Watson.
Emma Watson is mainly known for her role in Harry Potter as Hermione Granger. She has now used her influence to speak out about equality for both men and women. I feel like most people only think about women when it comes to inequality but she talks about men as well. I think this should be celebrated by all as she truly is a talented and remarkable woman.

  • The women I will like to get celebrated on the international women's day is female TEACHERS and DOCTORS .
Because this people are really making a great impact in the society, the teacher's instill knowledge in people and the doctors saves life.

  • I think a woman that has inspired me is Amy Dowden. She is a dancer just like me who is very successful and loves what she does. She got diagnosed with cancer and all she wanted to do was get back to the dance floor. She never let anything get her down and she kept fighting. Such an inspiration

  • The one woman I would like to celebrate this international women’s day is Malala Yousafzai because after everything she has been challenged with she still never gave up and that’s a true inspiration because that shows other women or girls growing up on social media that no matter what life throws at you just get back up. She survived attack by the Taliban and still courageously never stopped fighting for girls right for education. That is a level of bravery, determination and dedication that not a lot of people could do because of the fear or the trauma of the Taliban. She deserved every reward she got for her efforts to fight for what she believes in especially her Nobel in 2014. Her sharing her story is so important to other women to prove that anything is possible. I know many women would hope to be as brave as her one day.

    Thank you Malala

  • The women from the news I would like is Mariam Issa not only because she won the Nobel Peace reward, but also because she is the greatest and most dedicated supporter of refugees, especially children who have suffered the horrors of war. As a child myself, I can understand the extent of the suffering and feelings of a child suddenly losing their sense of security, whether it is the loss of parents who are their primary source of safety, or losing their home and shelter, or the ease of access to food and drink. As these events are repeated before my eyes on television screens these days for the children of Gaza, I understand the importance of the role played by this great lady in trying to improve the mental health of these children, embracing them, and her efforts to rehabilitate them, both materially and spiritually, so that they can be as strong as possible and able to overcome these circumstances. Perhaps with their hands, they can spread the peace they have lost in their world. All of this is only possible with the help of this great lady. She is like a lamp that lights their paths through fear, poverty, hunger, and the tool that weaves hope and success from all this.

  • The women from the news that I would like to celebrate this International Women's Day is " Begum Rokeya". She is the pioneer of women's education in Bengal. She fought for the equal rights of girls in education as man. She first established girl's school in Bengal. She went home to home to let the girl's come out of the house and to learn. In her journey of educating girls, she has to suffer a lot and face a lot of struggles. If she didn't fight for girls' education, then we were not able to take education. Because of her so much struggle, now in Bangladesh women are working along with the man and they are free from social norms in taking educations. Now every girl can fulfill their dreams by receiving education which was not possible without her tireless effort. For her great role in women education, I want to celebrate this International Women's Day remembering her struggle and working for women educations. We have to ensure that every girl can achieve educations without any hindrance. Only then her sacrifice will be fruitful.

  • The woman in the news I would like to celebrate is Toyin Wiggins because she is the CEO of the organization called “ToyinWiggins Centre For Leadership Mentoring Initiative” also known as “Change Makers Initiative” which is involved in empowering youths, women and girls with a focus on developing leadership skills and helping to provide opportunities for mentoring. I appreciate her organization because, from the name Change Makers, we already know that they are here to make an impact in different ways. Toyin as a youth and community developer works with youths across the 36 states within Nigeria, she also empowers women and girls to be change makers. Do you know that each year she organizes a party for the Orphans to let them show that they are special?
I am also aware that she supports the SDG goals, which shows that her ideologies and principles align with set rules. In addition, I think that she has great ideas and the best way to make all her ideas come to reality is to hear what she has in mind. That is why I choose to celebrate her because she is touching lives.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Patricia Pam. Patricia Pam is married with children even though she lives with a disability, she is an independent woman who works with with Equal Basis Development initiative, She is devoted to helping children and adults with disabilities, and she urges those who are disabled not to give up until their objectives are met. She also supports rights at the nexus of gender and disability and argues that human rights extend to people with disabilities.

  • I would like to celebrate Malala Yousafzai because she argued for the right for girls in Pakistan to get education. Several people believed that girls have no right to get education in Pakistan and men are the only ones who need education because they go on to do work and need more knowledge. However, Malala was against this and said that everyone should have the right to education and learn. For her this was very unfair and she needed to make a difference. Malala Yousafzai inspired a majority of people. In my opinion I think that she is inspiring because despite being shot on the head she survived and went on to go to London Oxford university and became a professor. In addition to this, when she was only in teenager years she wrote a speech and tried to make a difference. When she was 15 years old she got shot on the head and yet survived. Furthermore, she also won a nobel prize when she was 17 and soon became famous. Due to this, she managed to persuade people that women and girls should be able to go to school and this made other girls and women fight with her until the end. Malala Yousafzai is a very inspiring woman, she was determined to fight; she was resilient and didn’t give up and no matter what she did her best until girls and women were allowed to go to school and jobs and things just like men do. She believed that everyone deserves education.

  • I could choose one but I am sorry to say that the woman I want to celebrate is not only one. It is every daily woman that has survived a bad experience in her family or her own country.
A woman that survived a war, a sexual harassment, domestic violence, a woman that was prevented from being educated.
These daily anonymous women should be celebrated for their strength and courage to resist to any norms and make their voices heard. They do not need to be famous they just need to show to all of us what woman empowerment is.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is Nana Yaa Brefo for the reason being that she is extremely brave and says what must be said. Despite facing challenges and hate she says the truth unlike other journalist who sugarcoat the news. Whether it being about the president or a famous politician she would talk about what they are doing wrong and try to give a solution to the problem. When sharing the news, you can see a whole lot of emotions go through her telling how much she cares about it and how she truly feels about it. Some people see her as bias when she always does not praise politicians but when they are right, she would reveal it. She motivates me to be confident and express my feelings to people. She has though not to keep quiet when I see something which is wrong.

  • Hello,
The woman/girl I think should be celebrated in international women's day is Mary Slessor , why I think she should be celebrated is because she was known to stop the killing of twins around the world. And if not for Mary slessor, many children around the world would have died, and also if not for Mary slessor, women who gave birth to twins would have been thought being in contact with force of evil, and will be given poison, and if one survives the poison, they would be proven innocent. Before Mary slessor started stopping the killing of twins, she fought for women rights. Even though Mary slessor had some challenges because if she was caught helping mothers of twins she will receive certain punishments such as death or being casted out of Nigeria. And if Mary slessor had not stop the killing of twins, no woman would have twins for children. And since when Mary slessor stopped the killing of twins, people have now believed that the birth of twins is now a blessing rather than a curse. So if Mary slessor never stopped the killing of twins, it will be very hard for women especially if they are mothers of twins and their children may loose their lives even if they were proven innocent. And even though Mary slessor never got married, it didn't stop her from stopping the killing of twins. And even though she never got married she still went on and adopted about 4 children as estimated. So that is why even if Mary slessor is no more, I still want her to be celebrated on international women's day.
    THANK YOU

  • The woman I would like to celebrate is Malala Yousafzai. This is because I feel she is truly an inspiration for many girls and young women as not only did she campaign and fight for children’s (especially girls) rights to a full education but she survived an assassination attempt. Having read her book in school which stated she had been injured in her head by the taliban at only 15 years of age, due to her actions of speaking out against the taliban’s leading rules shows how much passion she held for this subject and him much she felt that change was needed to the point where she risked her life for others to have a better life. Malala has now continued to fight for the right to education and has founded a non profit charity called the Malala fund which invests in education and helps protest against the rules that prevent girls from going to school.

A truly inspiring young woman who didn’t let her life changing injury change the way she acted and fought for children’s rights.

  • The woman from the news I would like to celebrate is none other than “Gloria Marie Steinem”- a Feminist, because of her perspective and her actions. She is an American journalist, a socio-political activist, and former CIA affiliate who emerged as a nationally recognized leader of second-wave feminism in the US in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1969 she published an article, "After Black Power, Women's Liberation," which brought her national attention and made her a feminist leader. In 1971 she founded the National Women's Political Caucus which provides training and support for women who want to work in governmental institutions. Not only this, in the 1990s, she helped establish “Take Our Daughters to Work Day”, an occasion for young girls to learn about future career opportunities, and her best and most famous work was to create the Women’s Media Centre with the help of Jane Fonda, and Robin Morgan. Women's Media Centre is an organization that "works to make women visible and powerful in the media. Once she said that, women can do what men do but can men do what women can do. Which practically seems to be true but is also not completely true.
For example men surpass women in physical strength as they have to go through less bodily changes as compared to that of women. However women are better at expressing emotions as society thinks that men should be brave and is a stereotype that affects the mental health of the same.

I wish to hear your point of view and do correct me if I am wrong.
    Thank You

  • I think the girl from the news I would like to celebrate is Magaret Thatcher, who was the leader of the Conservative Party and the first woman to hold the office of Prime Minister in the UK. Her reign was not only profitable and memorable, but she paved the way for the future of other women prime ministers. The likes of Theresa May, Mary Elizabeth Truss, and many more. I'd want to celebrate her today because someday I'd want to make an impact just like she did. In addition, I'd like to celebrate her because she was a mother and had a family. All mothers deserve to be celebrated, but I just find handling a family and being a prime minister is just extraordinary. To conclude, I'd like to give one of my best quotes from her, which I use as a mantra. Here it goes: "Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the high road to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.” With this in mind, any girl or woman can be anything they want to be. Thank you.

In Nigeria, she became the first woman to enroll in Abeokuta Grammar School. It was stated by Wikipedia that "She founded the Abeokuta Women's Union in the 1940s and advocated for women's rights, including the ability to vote, better representation of women in local government, and an end to unjust taxes on market women." Referred to by the media as the "Lioness of Lisabi," she led protests and marches that drew as many as ten thousand participants, forcing the ruling Alake family to temporarily step down in 1949." She became well-known among the global movements for women's rights and peace and also became well-known within international bodies for peace and women's rights.
