As part of Burnet News Club, we were invited to participate in a talk that the Economist Educational foundation was giving at The BETT Show (a conference to develop new ideas about education and technology). We were meant to discuss why, in the fake news age, it was important to teach children about the news. It was a very exciting and unusual experience, and we got to see a lot of really cool tech that was on display. Tiffany asked us questions on stage and we had to explain our opinions on the necessity of news literacy and the application of news skills, such as scepticism. It was in the Excel centre- a huge conference and exhibition space. It was overall a very interesting experience, which I got to share with bright_tornado, strong_song, and beloved_chocolate.
