The Berlin Wall: a political wall

The Berlin Wall was erected in the middle of the night on August 13 1961, a physical division between West Berlin and East Germany. In addition to the political distinction between the different parts of the city, it was a symbol of the Cold War and the Iron Curtain between Communism Soviet and Western "democracies".

At the end of World War II, the Allied powers divided conquered Germany into four zones.

With the passing of the years the living and freedom conditions of the inhabitants of the East worsened more and more while, on the contrary, the West area of the city was rapidly rebuilt, work was created and well-being increased.

After all, the division satisfied everyone, and created fewer problems in the management of won Germany.

However the wall turned out to be completely useless, in fact even if at first it was raised to block the discomfort and the bad situation that had been created between the Russians and the Germans, at the first opportunity every form of division fell.

On the evening of 9 November 1989, after 29 years, the people of the East met with those of the West.

The Berlin Wall also wants to remember the pain of families who suddenly found themselves divided overnight, this is certainly a part of fundamental world history, which changed and continues to change the ideas of young people and adults regarding political and moral choices through its crazy construction.

Despite this, man remains troglodyte, as if the past did not belong to him and lived in an era of his own and without precedent.

History makes us learn from past mistakes and should make us reflect so that they do not repeat themselves over time.

However this is a concept that is still unclear and there is a tendency to misunderstand.
