Why do some people think the moon is made out of cheese?

Space Featured Image 1

People think that the moon is made out of cheese but I think it's just a piece of balooney. If the moon WAS made out of cheese then:

Wouldn't the moon melt to the heat of the sun and if it did then, how will it regenerate?

Well, I support the people who think the moon ISN'T made out of cheese because it's NOT!

I have published this post because I think it starts a good discussion in which you, and other Burnet News Club students, can show your scepticism skill. You have already given some reasons why you don't think it's true. Can other people show good scepticism and do the same?

The reason why some people think the moon is made of cheese is because of the colour and what they hear. Many films such as peppa pig have an episode where they do some space exploration and they go to the moon. In the end they say the moon is cheese and have a bit of it ! Young children are most likely to believe this and parents are extremely likely to say its true and word is likely to be spread. Not just children though, people who don't know astrology like less understanding people and people who just refuse to listen. I have also heard of the Wallace and Gromit space episode. Spongebob had a scene where patrick says the moon is made of cheese but its up there so long its mouldy.

I do not think this is true, but the fact that people say the moon is made out of cheese is a good show of imagination.

there are many fanciful fables that led kids to believe for a short period of time when they were young that the moon was made from cheese. But, in fact 'the moon is made out of green cheese' was a saying which was typically showing extreme credulity which was used as early as 1683. So really, the saying ‘the moon is made out of green cheese’ was not used seriously, mostly, as an opinion. it is just used in folklore like the tale where a character mistakes the moon’s reflection for a wheel of cheese. Obviously, after all the facts have been stated and it has been proved, the moon was never known to be made of cheese, just used in some folklores.

I do not think the moon is cheese because it is true that the sun would melt it

People only believe the moon is cheese because of how it is illustrated in young childrens books and movies.Scientifically,if the moon was cheese,it would rip itself apart!

Yes the moon is DEFINITELY not made of cheese but the reason why people 🧀started saying it could partly be to do with it’s craters.🧀 Some cheese has holes like this in them which look a bit like the craters on the 🌓 moon🌔.
