Was there once life on Mars?

Most people would say that there was never life on Mars, but how can we be sure of that? Scientificly, there is no evidence to show that there was never once life on Mars or if there was.
There actually may have been life on Mars as there is photographic evidence that there was once rivers and lakes there, like earth. But again, as the photographic evidence shows, the lakes, rivers and sources of water have dried up. This makes sense as Mars is a very dry planet. But as I have written, there may have been life on Mars that had become extinct when the sources of water dried up.
On the other hand, there may have never been life on Mars as it is a very hot dry planet and doesn't have any trees which produce oxegen and as you probably know, oxegen is vital for humans as we need it to live. And if there once was life on Mars , how would the life survive as there is no rain to help grow plants that produce food to eat and the animal source of meat that might be there will die because there will be nothing for them to eat.
There are lots of different reasons for both sides of this argument so I need you to comment about what you think.

Yes I agree with you while you say that no one knows if there is life on any other planet

Surely there once was life on Mars as we can't have been the only life form in the whole solar system. It is a bit incredible to me to think that there is only one planet with any form of living species on it out of 4000 planets and XO planets. But now back to Mars, as photographic evidence shows there probably is life on Mars but there again I could be wrong. There isn't any water any more so it would be hard for life to live on mars. I understand some people may think that aliens are on mars as it says on fantasy stories. There was never any photographic evidence of life on any planet, never mind mars. The only small life form found on any planet other than earth is bacteria and unhealthy drugs.

i think that there could be life on mars because we have no prof that there was not life on mars . I think if we new more about mars then it would give us a better understanding.

I think that there was once life on Mars because there was once water on Mars since astronauts found ice and water is the key to all life on earth. Without water on earth earth might become a desert and there would never be life again.

Hi ethical_armidillo
I quite like this post as it is very open minded as you look at both sides you say that there could’ve been life on Mars but you also backed it up by adding there might have not been.
Kind regards
