Should we spend so much on Space Exploration?

Space Featured Image 3

Space Exploation is great and all but is it worth the cost, not just money?

Global government invested $14.6 billion in 2017 and an avereage of at least $15billion a year on space exploration.

Is that too much?

Good things about Space Exploration...

Space Exploration is great because i think we need to learn about other planets just in case we kill this one.

Also we need to be educated on it so if there is a disaster about to happen -eg:massive meteor the size of the Earth coming towards us- then we need to know so we can prevent it.

It helps us do experiments on the human body just in case we need to move planets in the future.

It helps us with something we use everyday and cant live without...

"The Internet"

Yes if we didn't have satellites there would be no internet or phone service!

It helps us with climate change (also causing it a little) yes it really does because we can look at the Earth from space and see and test the bad parts of the Earth and that can help us back at our Space Centers across the world.

Bad things about space exploration...

On the other hand, the cost is extraordinary and is too much for something that may be damaging our O-Zone layer and could be one of the main causes of Global Warning.

Also we might not like what we find eg:we spend billions of dollars on a rocket to find Alien-life-form and find nothing and unfrortunatley leaving masses of junk in Earth's orbit.

Other nations could use it to exploit eachother like for instence "The Space Race" that caused alot of commosion between countries in seeing who would be first in Space.

Space Exploration will always have risks due to rockets blowing up costing peoples lives and alot of time and money.

So what do you think?

Hi motivated_grape, thanks for this, but can you copy and paste it as a comment on post we already have about this question. This well mean more people read your ideas and respond to you: https://burnetnewsclub.com/issues/space-exploration/the-discussion/space-exploration-was-it-useful-getting-into-space-even-though-it-had-a-big-cost/

I think we should not spend so much because we should focus on climate change more so we don`t have to find a new planet to live on.

I personally think we should worry on problems on this Earth that need solving and then explore outer space knowing that this planet is healthier and can more preserved.

I think both ways are GOOD.
Yes we should spend time about space exploration because with the condition on Earth we wont be able to stay on it any longer and because if we to space we can find a way to figure out how to make a colony on Mars so we can send people to love there if something bad happens to out our planet
No we shouldn't spend time on space exploration because we have so many problems here on earth we need to face and if we keep focusing on space the world will become a mess and we won't be able to live on there anymore if we don't focus on space exploration to much we can help our planet be a safe and climate change free place and we won't need to colonize on Mars anymore because earth will be good as new when we don't focus on space exploration. 150billion was spent on the ISS instead of them wasting money on it we could have saved does millions of people going hungry or living without water.
That's why space exploration is a good things and a bad thing.
