Moon vs Mars

Why we should go to Mars not the Moon:

We should go to Mars instead of the Moon because we have already been to the moon multiple times. It is simply a waste of money to go into space to go to the moon just because we can. We already know so much about our Moon that going back to it is pointless. However, going to Mars would be a value for money as we have never been before. We would be better spending over 271 million pounds on going to a different planet to expand our knowledge rather than going somewhere we have already been lots of times.

Why we should go to the Moon not Mars:

Going to mars is to far-fetched. For a long time we will not have the technology to go to a different planet. It is simply easier to go to the Moon. It would cost less, and would expand our knowledge about the Moon. We know lots about Mars already so going to it would not help expand our knowledge. In fact it would just cost too much to go there and besides, we don't have the technology anyway.

I think that for now we should travel to Mars because, like the text says, we have already been to the moon. By saying this I don't mean that there is nothing else to explore on the moon because I am sure that there are plenty of things that we have missed. We have been to the moon multiple times so I think that if we are expecting some discovery out of it then Mars is the place to go. My reasons of thinking this is because we have been to the moon many times and what we need is either not there or it is extremely unobvious to find whereas if we were to travel to Mars there could be something waiting there for us to discover that is easier to find. Although traveling to Mars will be more expensive, we would not want to waste our money on the moon. The reason why I say this is because it is pretty expensive to travel both ways so we may as well spend a tiny of a fraction more money on traveling to the place where we need to go!

I think mars and the moon both have different reasons that you might want to go there. The moon as you said, we have already gone to the moon and I think that even though we have already been there, it would still be educational to go there as we still don't know a lot about it and it could prove useful to expand our data bank. The problem of going to the moon is that it would be almost impossible to inhabit it as the atmosphere is unbreathable and their is no gravity not to mention it varies between 253 degrees, to negative 387 degrees Fahrenheit in a single day. Mars is more habitable than the moon as The Martian day is very close in duration to Earth's. A solar day on Mars is 24 hours.
Mars has a surface area that is 28.4% of Earth's, which is only slightly less than the amount of dry land on Earth. My sources are wikipedia and quora. This is my view and I hope you take this into consideration.

I just want to conclude that this is a good post.

I think we should go to mars because scientists have proved that there is more life on mars than moon because there was life on mars and there is no life proven on the moon there also there was no water on the moon but there was on mars so there might of been life on mars so that may be a better habitat on mars than the moon also it has a 24:39 minute day span and mars is a bigger place for more people to live and mars has not been explored as much as the moon so it is a better place to explore so I strongly believe that we should explore mars than the moon

I think that we should expand our knowledge about the moon before we go to Mars because we have sent rovers up there but still do not know if it would be safe for humans.
Also, continuing on the topic of rovers, 6 have been sent up to Mars by humans but I don't believe that we have the right technology for us to go there yet.

I think we should go to Mars because, like you said, we have already been to the moon multiple times and we can already study it incredibly well without people travelling there - in short, it is unneeded. Mars is further away than the moon, however, so travelling to it would be a better option so we can understand it better as from artificial intellegence we can only get a few ideas about Mars. We could also build a colony on Mars whereas the moon doesn't have the right conditions for permanent human life, or at least I think as if it was possible we probably would be living on the moon now. But space companies are planning to send people to Mars in the very near future, meaning that life on Mars is probably possible and it will be very common soon.

I think that we should go to marz and not the moon, I think this because we have already been to the moon lots of times and there is no point to go again and waste more money on something that we have already discovered.l also think that the international space station is spending way too much money on space exploration, when they can spend it on discovering other planets such as Jupiter and Venus.

In my opinion we should go to the moon over mars but I will give opinions on both sides of the argument.

    For going to Mars:

Some reasons for going to Mars over the moon are that the moon has been explored and human footprints are on its rock, but mars hasn't got human footprints on. It is possible for mars to have the secret ingredient to curing cancer and saving several lives. Mars is a good looking planet that we would love to explore it for ourselves instead of robots.

    For going to the moon:

In my opinion, the moon would be better because:
Firstly, in a recent experiment, we have found out that mars' air is to thin to breathe. Also, in a recent BNC lesson, we turned space into a miniature scale and Mars is 1 killometre away from Earth compared to a tiny 7 steps to the Moon. This is a 9 month journey and if you go into space for a long time, your genes and blood can change and become infected. Also a rocket, sent by India, to the moon lost contact to Earth, imagine going to Mars! It is a massive risk that I recommend not taking.

In conclusion, I would recommend us going to the moon over mars for several safety reasons.

    Reasons for Mars:

I think we should explore Mars as the moon has already been discovered and explored. We know around 65% of the moon and around 10% of Mars, the only footage of Mars is through photographic footage and the curiosity rovus. They are both robotic though.

    Reasons for the moon:

Mars' air is to thin to take in and it lacks oxygen. Plus, it takes a long time to land on the moon. Imagine that on Mars when it is further away. Either way it is polluting disgusting things and that is a reason not to go to either of them.

I believe heading towards Mars is more advantageous for us as a race because it enables us to find unknown features of space as well as Mars. In addition, lots of countries, and people have gone towards and landed on the Moon and as a result we've found out a lot about our Moon. However, not being to Mars apart from sending robots to explore Mars we haven't gone very far after that. Excluding talk about living on it we could find other minerals, resources on mars that we've almost ran out of on Earth. It could also help us understand more about the Universe that we live in.

I think that going into Mars is a great idea because one of the main reasons why people travel to space is to explore and learn more things about the Earth and bring back more knowledge than before. If we go to the same place multiple times not only would we be spending a lot of money but we would also have less knowledge about anything else because we just want to learn about one place and that may not always be the best idea. The Earth may be close to the moon but going to Mars would really help people and it may give them answers they have been looking for.

When you explore, you need to make sure that you are not leaving behind the other things that matter too because the more you explore, the more you will know and the more ways that will benefit people who live on Earth.

You can go to mars and it wouldn't be much hotter even though it is closer to the sun. I don't think we would have a problem going there except for the fact that it is further away. If we decided to go to mars we might have a few problems going there but why not risk it to go to a different planet? However I think that if we were to have a vote throughout the whole world (if possible) then we would be able to decide and make a decision. If we go to mars (referring to unbiased_honeyberry) then we might be able to find different chemicals but they probably won't be able to make us last longer, although they may help as some sort of medicine. This is my opinion which I hope you took in.

In my opinion, I actually don’t think we should go to Mars yet. Like accomplished_reality said, we still don’t have the technology and we know a lot about the moon but we still don’t know every thing. We should keep on our travels to the moon for just simple research and then we will learn even more! Well, obviously. But my whole point is the knowledge is power and we could do a lot with that power.

But hey, if you think about it, another positive side of it, is while we can be adventuring to the moon over again, (if the existence of aliens actually exist) we may find new inspiration for higher tech? We still know very little about space as a whole, and it maybe super inaccurate. But there is that chance. And sometimes people do everything for just a slight chance.

I think that we should travel to Mars because Mars holds a lot more potential than the Moon does. We have been to the moon already, as was said in the post, but we have not been to Mars, which would mean a lot more discovery about the planet, but also about space in general, and the potential for Mars' human habitation. A few years ago, water was found on Mars, in the form of ice, and, in one, place, brine. If we keep discovering it, we could find even more things that make it suitable for human life, meaning it could potentially be a refuge from the declining state of our planet. The Moon does not hold this potential, meaning it could not be of much use to us as a species and our survival, whereas Mars could provide a place for humans to go if Earth becomes too overcrowded and uninhabitable, whereas the Moon could not, so has no benefit to humans apart from accomplishment and satisfaction, which would only be for a few, as it has been done before.

I agree with you miraculous_ knowledge as we have visited the Moon several times but like you said we still have more to discover on it. Mars could become our home unlike the Moon which is tiny and could quickly become over-crowded like Earth. This means finding more about our sister planet will be more beneficial to us¬; seeing in more depth of how civilization could thrive there. Concluding my investigation into this, my reasons above clearly show how beneficial exploring Mars over the Moon would be to us. However, I also agree with careful_ science when he says that the two rocky bodies would be equally of use to us, and that the Moon is still filled with wonders waiting to help problems on Earth? He also talks briefly Mars’ 24-hour cycle. This would keep astronauts from getting very confused because that’s what the day-night cycle is on Earth. The reasoning behind my argument is clear, I’m really interested in hearing yours too BNC!!!!!

It would take a long time to get enough money and the journey would also take a long time but it would be worth it more than going to the moon again. When Tim Peake came back down from the moon, he could hardly walk but i think that people make more machines to use for exercising. It would take a long time to figure out the best ways to do this but it would create more scientific advances which could help us on Earth and in discovering more of the universe.

This is a big one, I’m betting there’s going to be a big debate about this later. But here’s my opinion.

For the moon, some people would want to go to the moon because it has craters so we could get a head start and get some mining. However on mars there and big hills, basically the opposite of the moon. However if we want to mine we might need some strong materials to mine the moon.

Now mars, with the nearing future and climate change one of the BIG reasons to explore mars is to see if we could live there. However this would mean we would need a LOT of rockets to move all 7 Billion people to mars. Plus rockets need fuel to run and that would mean we have to options: 1. Build a giant rocket and take people in that or, 2. Make lots of rockets. I’ll leave the discussion to the government from here.

This one was a tough one for me.

On one hand, I think that we should go and keep going to the moon and not Mars because almost every time we go, we find out something that we didn't know before! Even though we have been to the moon multiple times, it would cost less to go because if we go to Mars, we would have to develop a new range of products and technology that would get us there. It would also take a long time to develop that technology and that is probably why NASA says that they will land people there in 2030! (I researched this on Google if anyone wants to find out more).

On the other hand, I think that we should go to Mars because we can find out if the theory of water on Mars is true and that the astronauts that are in the space programme can feed back to us if it is or not. The scientists can also see if the climate on Mars can allow humans to live there, if it can sustain life by looking at the effects it has on their health and safety. Scientists have said that there is a new planet that has been discovered that could potentially be 'another Earth' meaning that if Mars doesn't work out for humans, we could maybe look at how life would be on there.

In conclusion, using all 4 skills, I think that we should go to Mars and the moon because we can descover new things and for the reasons I stated above.

I believe there are still reasons why we should travel to the moon as you said we have already traveled to the moon and we know so much about it that can be good as we will know how it works and we won't have to worry about all the difficulties that we would come across on Mars. Although if we went to Mars then we would be able to find new things, maybe, but there's also the fact how we have no idea about what's out there we could run into a warp hole (probably not) but if we did then we may end up on the other side of the universe and not know how to get back to were we where.

I think that we should go to the moon and mars because at the end of the day they are both still apart of our world and we need to use as much land on our world as possible. As long as we are safe and we are not in danger then I believe that anything is possible and we can succeed going to both planets.
We could make it safe by putting robots on mars and see if it is safe to live there. I know that it will cost a lot of money to keep sending robots to space but I think that it is much better to pay money to risk your life.
But what I still don't understand is that although mars is a really cool planet that we still need to discover more about but what benefit would it really give us just to go to mars surely we should try and go to every planet.

I srongly agree we should go to Mars because I think that if we can land on Mars, we can figure out how to live in space because air on Mars is very thin and according to research we are not able to breath on Mars at the moment. Secondly, we haven't been there yet so it would be a good experience for people. Thirdly, we have all the research about the moon now so now we should gather information about Mars ( the driest planet in the solar system).

I think we should go to Mars instead of the Moon. I feel that we have already researched an ample amount about the Moon. Focusing our research efforts on Mars will allow us to find more resources. Scientists state that Mars could be the next 'potential Earth'. If this assumption is accurate then I believe it is worth exploring. Mars would be the ideal planet to do further research about as it is the most similar planet to Earth. Furthermore, in 2025 four astronauts will land on Mars and every 2 years another team of 4 will make their way to Mars. This would allow us to discover more about the life on Mars and whether it can provide a possible habitable environment for humans in the future.

Personally, I don't actually think that the world will just not be there. Yes, eventually the sun will blow up and potentially form a black hole (which would end the world) but the world itself would never end. Except for if we destroyed it yourself, but my point is that the world would not just end. We could go to mars if anything happened to our planet but isn't that just a bit to much effort?

Although watching lots of movies of the fact that astronauts have been to Mars it is hard to believe that humans have not yet conquered Mars which is a very big milestone. NASA have a lot to work on if they are going to send a human to Mars because the astronaut may feel isolated in the fact that he/she is leaving is to go into orbit and see if they can go to Mars and find out many things to send back to earth so they could do further research. As we have already conquered the moon several times it is not as important as humans discovering Mars because research on the moon is done.

Although we have traveled to the Moon before we could still have a advantage because we can collect Moon rock and dust. But we have never explored Mars before and new research could be found as well. Although Mars is new the Moon's rock or dust could be used for further research or experimental purposes. Mars is very cold though so human activity or a type of creature from our planet may not survive that climate because we've never experienced that level of coldness before. Also we've never seen or experienced any of the creatures or life that live on Mars and don't even know what research we will find there may be nothing to help scientists for there research on Mars or experiments on it. So therefore I believe that the Moon is a better place to live on because we know whats there and it's less dangerous.

We need to take into consideration that Mars dust sticks to every thing meaning that If a mini Mars wind storm comes it could easily destroy the habitat, and we need to make a moon base first to make the journey to mars easier, then the problem, with Mars the Mars dust might make the rockets unable to work because it could get into the thrusters of the rocket so no coming back but let's say all this was solved it would make a good place to launch rockets for asteroid mining and a secondary home planet so we can move there however we will not say are planet is important and we will destroy the wildlife in. conclusion it is a terrible idea but also good (some)

I think we should send astronauts to the Moon and then Mars as we could set up a Moon Base. We could use this as a head-start to discovering the rest of the solar system as the gravity on the Moon is less than earth so we wouldn't need as much fuel to get off the ground, therefore we could carry more payload. Scientists estimate it will cost as about as much as the ISS. This might sound expensive but it will grant a huge advantage. This could be the first step to discovering the solar system in its entirety.

In winter, near the poles temperatures can get down to minus 195 degrees F (minus 125 degrees C).As you can see mars can get pretty cold and it also takes 150-300 days but it depends on how much fuel people are willing to take more fuel that is been spent shorter journey were if you spend less fuel then longer journey. It also could take up to 250 million or more.So therefore i believe we should not go to mars and espandon on are knowledge on the moon.
