VIDEO: 'IS IT WORTH IT?' The Great Space Debate

Hi Guys,

Fiery_Wolf, Honorable_Conclusion and myself worked really hard on this debate on the costs of Space Travel.

We did a lot of research and asked our teachers for their opinions and included them in our debate too. We were sceptical and did a lot of fact checking and we hope that you enjoy it.

Please tell us who you think should have won, or see if you can answer any of the questions yourself!

A great final piece! Nicely presented and excellent sides of the debate given. The argument 'for' seemed to use lots of evidence from the sessions and the argument 'against' showed lots of further research. It's a tough one to decide a winner, perhaps the rest of the BNC can help out!

I agree with Honourable Conclusion when she says that space exploration is not worth it. She says that only 4.8 billion dollars per year is spent on cancer research compared to the NASA's huge budget of 21.5 billion dollars per year. People in Syria are starving and are forced to eat grass to survive, we need to put more money into giving these people quality medical treatment and food. 1.8 billion dollars per year in the USA is spent on dementia help, this figure has not gone up in years considering the fact that the amount of people affected by dementia has gone up globally. Funny power says that space exploration has given us so many things like foil blankets and CAT scans, as much these things are very important, we can not afford to rely on accidental discoveries to get us somewhere. Why can't more money be spent on reducing homelessness which only gets 6 billion dollars per year and other very important things. We still have time left to save our planet from global warming, we should focus our money on trying to stop it, rather than looking so far ahead that we reach 'lets colonise a another planet' territory.

I agree because there are many things we spend less money on but space cost s way more so I think Honorable_Conclusion should win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with honorable_conclusion because space has cost a lot of money whilst I feel we haven't spent enough money and time into things like health care and homelessness.
