Any last questions or facts to end our Space Exploration topic !!!!!

Space Featured Image 8

I loved this terms topic of Space Exploration , it made me realise that space is more inportant then you first think . It gives us many useful inventions like:

  • cat scans;
  • athletic shoes.

Here are some questions for you to try and answer:

How much does it cost PER PERSON to go to space?

How many space copany's E.G NASA are there in the USA?

What animals went up to space?

How many people have gone to the moon?

Who was the first person to go to the moon?

I am exitedand for whatever Burnet News Club throws at us next term and future topics .

What a great example of curiosity here, plucky_oboe. To be keen to find out these answers also shows you're open-minded to these questions.

    To answer your questions:

How much does it cost PER PERSON to go to space?
According to NBC news, a ticket into space as a tourist could set you back anywhere from $250,000 to tens of millions of dollars. NASA pays about $90 million dollars for each astronaut that takes part in an ISS mission whilst the per-seat cost for SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule will be around $55 million. In conclusion, there is no set cost per person- it depends on the reason for their space travel.

How many space companies are there in the USA?
We know one important one: NASA. It also depends what you mean by ‘space company’. Across the world, there are 72 different government space agencies (as of 2018), with only 14 of those capable of launching rockets. If you include companies such as Virgin, who are getting involved in space tourism, in this statistic, I am sure the number will rise even further.

Which animals have gone up to space?
Monkeys, apes, mice, frogs, dogs, tortoises and a wide range of insects. The first animals that were sent into space were fruit flies in 1947. Laika- the dog- became the first living being to orbit the Earth in 1957, although she died several hours into the flight from stress and heat. Famously, two Russian space dogs- Veterok and Ugolyok- orbited the Earth for a record 22 days before landing safely on March 16th 1966. This record still stands today!

How many people have gone to the moon?
Twelve people have walked on the moon (4 of them are still living today!) An additional twelve people have visited the moon but didn’t get to land on it.

Who was the first person to go to the moon?
Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the surface of the moon. Three astronauts- Frank Borman, James A. Lovell, and William Anders- were the first men to orbit the Moon.

Now a few questions of my own:
    - What would happen to a space shuttle that passed through a black hole?
    - What will happen to Earth when our sun dies?
    - Will astronauts ever travel beyond our solar system?
    - Will space exploration ever find a way to be more environmentally friendly?

I think that we are illegally entering space. If a person needs a visa to enter a country, (they get arrested if they don't have one) then does that mean that we need a visa to enter Space? It isn't a country of course but it is a place that's not in Europe. So, is it already a crime to enter space?
