Hey everyone, independent_leopard here,
I'm here to discuss whether Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States of America, should truly be held responsible for the so-called "protest" at Capitol Hill on the 6th of January, 2021.
This event was a while back, but protesting is the topic so I thought I'd speak about it now.
On Twitter, Trump sent a post saying the following, "These patriots did nothing wrong". This shows us that he believes that the protesters had total right to do what they did, and that he thinks that they were patriots to their country because of it. This tells the public that he saw nothing wrong with what they did that day. This could lead us to believe that he wanted Capitol Hill to be attacked, because he saw nothing wrong with it.
He also tweeted "You'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong". This could suggest that he thinks that the Democrat Party "stole" the US from the Republicans because he wants to "take it back".
Trump has been banned from many social media sites such as Twitter and Tik Tok, showing us that they do not agree with his behaviour. Trump is an incredibly influential person and when he was given opportunity to stop his party from doing various dangerous acts, he held back and did not attempt to stop them. I believe that he was banned from social medias because it was an easy way for him to incite violence and invoke dangerous or even criminal activity, and the app developers and leaders did not want him to have that privilege.
A lot of European leaders seem to have a distaste toward the impeached president, however, some, such as French Junior Minister for European Union Affairs Clement Beaune, has said that he was shocked to see the social media platform pull Trump's account.
Thanks for reading my post!
