Why do we need prime ministers?

You may think they only politically lead the country. Read on to find out more.

This is a photo of the british political leader, Boris Johnson. but what does he actually do?

The prime minister is the leader of the government who is appointed by the queen. Boris Johnson is the leader of the conservatives party and was being put under pressure by Jeremy Corbyn who is the leader of the Labour Party. Corbyn would like to go on and become prime minister, but the next general election is supposed to be 5 years away. In 2025.

What things are the prime minister also aloud to do?

One thing that the prime minister can do is award knighthoods and damehoods. I only thought that the queen was capable of that but I was wrong.

The PM is also the prime leader of the civil servants, they carry out the government decisions.

They can also send the armed forces into battle. However, some people don't think that it shold be aloud.

He/she are supposed to decide to shoot down a hijacked or an unidentified plane that should not be flying over that land.

The biggest thing is probably the fact that the prime minister is in charge of the UK's nuclear weapons system.
