Is leadership always shown in the same way?

Thinking-Question.jpg

You've probably heard of lots of different kinds of leaders. A leader is generally someone who is in charge of a group, an organisation, or maybe even a situation.

As there are lots of different kinds of leaders, we'd like to know your thoughts on:

Is leadership always shown in the same way?

This is a particularly good question to ask for examples. You might think leadership can be shown in different ways, and give examples of real-life people or positions to support your view. You might take the view that there are certain things that are common to all forms of leadership.

Leadership can be shown in many different ways, like being a example for others in a certain way or in other words, 'leading the way for a certain type of action.' This shows that leadership does not always need to be from the top down, it can be gently influential, this is known as indirect leadership. A way to picture indirect leadership is to imagine a person on social media giving messages with a motive, it is highly unlikely that any one of his followers will do what he says word for word but will be influenced by his tweets. Another type of leadership is direct leadership which is usually enforcing things on people and saying 'we will do this' or ' we shall do this.' This is the type of leader we usually see today.

Thank you for citing your source, but please make sure you don't base it too closely otherwise it remains someone else's thoughts and not your own. In future, only take a phrase, line or quote from somewhere else and write the rest using your own thoughts on it.

I think leadership is moreover defined in the same way but different perspectives. It can be shown when one is stronger than the other either in finances or strength. Example: (Doctor> Nurse or Strong>Weak) However, leadership can mean when one is the leader of something, someone/something they look up onto. This can either be in religious terms, for example, Christians look up onto God while Muslims look up onto Allah, whereas Hindus have many gods, but different religions have different sources to revere their supreme being. A more common example is the Queen. We look up onto her for many things such as health, education and much more. However, some rulers are not for good cause. Like in the Hong Kong Crisis, (which is still on now!) it was the leader of China the thought of the futile law, which has put Hong Kong in devastation! Moving on, Leadership doesn't have to be humans consisting of it, a non-human thing can too! For example, if someone won something, happiness would be their first feeling, meaning that emotion would temporarily have leadership over that person. To explain further, the first emotion that a person feels is similar to being in 1st place in rank. Meaning they would be the leader of that thing. Like succinct_leaves, they have leadership as they are in 1st place on the leaderboard. Or as in the game 'follow the leader' the leader is always first, they have the highest priorities, etcetera, etcetera... Overall, leadership has the same meaning but in different ways. So my final answer is NO, shown in the examples given.

    Thank you for reading,

Because there is only an assistant. For example, they cannot perform an operation, can they? They're only capable of supporting a hospitalised person (a patient). However, I wouldn't look down on them because they are the helping hand a doctor needs especially as they've got buildings of paperwork to attend to. I hope I've answered your question.

        Thank you for asking!

When we think of leadership, I think that it's important that we don't look at just politicians, but the people around us to define the meaning of leadership. Leadership in its definition, is the act of motivating people towards a common goal; for example, teachers work together and educate students for upcoming challenges in life, doctors save lives every day and lead their team. Good leadership takes hard work, dedication and knowledge. Some good examples of leaders are: Marie Curie, Shakespeare, Gandhi, Van Gogh and Albert Einstein.

In my opinion leadership is not always shown in the same way because I just don't particularly look at leaders, I look up to everyone in every day life as we all could be leaders for each other. Also, leadership can be shown in many different ways such as: sportsmanship, taking the role as leader in a group and many more. But on the other hand, I agree that leadership is shown in the same way because whatever leader it is they have got to follow a certain set of rules which applies to all of the leaders which they need to follow as part of there agreement towards being/becoming a leader. I think leadership is very important because it may be that you can trust that person [ at school if you are worried about anything you can always speak to some one] or in sports you will have to listen to the leader of your group to 1. help out the group 2. so that we can work as a team and you understand what you are doing during the activity.

Lots of great ideas here and well done for supporting your reasons with examples and explanation. You talk about some qualities being necessary for leaders (they HAVE to have them) and other qualities being sufficient ('nice to have' but not essential). Do you think you can make a list of both and separate them out?

In my opinion, all effective leaders have certain qualities in common:
    - they show respect and tolerance for diversity, regardless of race, religion, gender etc
    - they motivate people to believe in themselves and the leader’s vision
    - they have the ability to listen to the view points of others and respond appropriately
    - they take responsibility for their actions
    - they make considered decisions and think carefully about the promises that they make
    - they are able to adapt their behaviour for different situations
    - they are able to be clear and concise in what they say

However, I am very aware that it is idealistic to think that all leaders are like this. In fact, I believe that there is very rarely a perfect leader- all leaders (like all people) have flaws. In addition, although these are the key qualities that I think make up a perfect leader, different leaders will have different personalities and different leadership styles so will not always demonstrate their leadership in the same way.

I thought of 2 examples of leaders who were very different but equally as good:
    1. Nelson Mandela- he was passionate and fought for what he believed in, motivating people around him to follow him. He was a man of peace who also had a powerful presence that made people want to listen to what he had to say. He was a kind person who communicated clearly and calmly and motivated through kindness.

    2. Sir Alex Ferguson- he was also passionate, self confidence and had the right knowledge and skills to be a successful football manager. People followed him because of his self-confidence rather than because of his kindness. He was honest, even if this meant dropping people from the team and causing them to be hurt. He pushed people to be the best through his own drive, passion and enthusiasm. However, unlike Nelson Mandela, he didn’t always show this passion calmly.

Here are two examples of very strong leadership that were completely different.

An excellent use of examples to support your well-reasoned comment. I really like the contrast you have drawn between Mandela and Ferguson, which helps to show the diversity of leaders. Can anyone else think of one who is similar to either of these two?

I disagree because people can understand leadership in different ways for an example some people might use the chance to take over people’s brains and might persuade people to do thing that they wouldn’t want to do or might decide something without letting people have a vote 🗳 but that doesn’t always happen so another way leadership is understood is that when you are in charge you listen to other people's views 👂,you should be honest in any situation that you are faced with but we would never find anyone with that type, they would just cheat, if we were in a election we should do what we say but no one would that because they would want to get people on their side.so I disagree

Well I they no that a leadership can be shown in multiple ways. Here are my reasons.
My first reason is that to be a leader you don't need to have control over a person or group. You can be really quite at the back but can be a good role model to everyone to show them how to behave. My next reason is that to be a leader you can instead of being quiet you can be quite loud and have control instead of being a role model you can have more confidence as well.

Leadership can be shown in different ways, not just PMs or presidents but people who are responsible for something or someone. Someone who is honest open and must make important decisions and to be selfless (not too selfless). Furthermore, you must be a role model to the people and let them have their say. In addition to this, you mus respect everyone equally regardless of their race, religion and background.

In my opinion, leadership is not a role but a responsibility to keep people everyone satisfied. Leadership can be shown in many ways and forms but they have to have dignity and honesty to people who worship them as a leader. Accountability is a key quality every leader must own by not hiding anything from their followers and treat them like family. Equality is key and people like Jeremy Corbyn who dislikes Jews are not a perfect example for this. They need to think about others when making essential decisions as it may not affect him but it will do for others. Different leaders have different ways to approach a situation and they have different policies that they promise to follow so my final answer to this question is no, Leadership is not always shown in the same way

Or people in charge of something or someone. people who are managers of a company are leaders to the people that work with them

But sometimes it can be shown in the same way as good leaders show skills such as:

    honesty
    to be open
    Be responsible and

Leadership is shown in many different ways; people will understand if you don’t like a prime minister for particular reasons then they will try to become more and more over controlling on what they do linking on to WW2 and Neville chamberlain and Winston Churchill. Neville Chamberlain was not the greatest and appeased Hitler so he stepped down and then further came on Winston Churchill to help Britain succeed through war so prime ministers come in different points of view and different ways of controlling and helping the country.

i feel like leadership could be show in lots of different ways for .e.g:
    -a defensive president
    -a selfless president
    - an aggressive president
    - a selfish president.
personally i think that most leader ship is shown in a different way depending on what you are doing. if you are playing follow the leader people are going to do different things but still lead you the way the should! if you are playing bull dog the people who you are leading ( the people who got caught) have to try and catch others and same goes for the next leader and the one after that but they will always have new people with a new game plan to each other. may one or two things may be the same but that doesn't make it exactly the same! But i think that the way leader ship is shown i different ways makes it unique and beautiful. what i'm trying to say is that all leaders are unique in whatever you do, they may do something similar to what the other person before them has did but it is never ever going to be the exact same. just the way humans are different so are their personalities!

No! Since if you are selfish and you are a leader people would not like a self-centered leader because you elected them to listen to your ideas and make good decisions but if they are selfish, you do not listen the people who elected you will feel disappointed about why they elected you.But aggression is WORSE violence is no way to be a leader you will hurt yourself and the opposition while you are aggressive.

Leadership can be shown through anything from participating in a huge strike and influencing the thoughts of others to being a well-known politician who makes televised speeches. Leaders will all have different methods of leading and having their say. In a way, we are all leaders to those who have listened and those who will listen.

I think that leadership can be shown in many different ways. For example, the prime minister is not responsible for every single person in the country. However, a head teacher is accountable for all the pupils - if something happens to the children, they are to blame.
On the other hand, all leaders, whether they are in charge of a small or large group, have to be open minded and take suggestions into account.

I think that leadership can be presented in different ways. For example, a parent is responsible for their child, but simultaneously they make the decisions so they are considered a leader. On the other hand, a king wouldn't be responsible for his citizens, he just reigns over a country but is still considered a leader. However, leadership is temporary as the child will grow up and take care of themselves a the King will retire so another heir can take his place. However, some leaderships are permanent. To demonstrate, if a person bought a bag it would officially be theirs, so the person would have leadership over that bag forever. Overall, leadership isn't shown in the same way.

I think that they were the same people would notice but sometimes they are the same same but they aren’t really identical there just the same kind of structure.
