If politicians lie should they be fired?

We all know politicians lie quite a lot but is it fair if they get fired?

I don't think politicians should get fired for lieing because otherwise they wouldn't have a job which means they wouldn't be earning money and if they don't earn money they won't have enough do do nice things with they're family or buy presents for they're wife children or parents for Christmas and birthdays. Also I don't think they should because it's going to be really hard for us as well because it could take us quite a while to find another person to replace them and while we are trying to find someone else other politician's will be lieing and then we will have to find more and more people to replace the politicians.

On the other hand, I think they should get fired because they could be twisting a story about what another party is going to do for example and then it might stop people voting for that party or a politician could say if I was your prime minister I would do this this and this when actually they're not going to do any of that they're just saying they're going to do that so they get a lot of votes.

In conclusion I think that politicians should not get fired for lieing but get some sort of punishment so then they will stop lieing.

Thank you for reading my post and please comment your opinion.

I personally think, that, no they should not be fired, because if the U.S told everyone they were going to kill the Iranian general or if the Iranian government told everyone they were going to blow up a U.S plane, each of them would try to defend or attack but sometimes leaders and governments can not be open about certain things, like the example I have just given. However, a leader or government may lose followers if the general public found out about their dishonesty.

On the one hand, some people think that it is the right thing to do to lie to your country at SOME times because it might be that their country DONT want to know. For example: OUR COUNTRY IS AT WAR!! Or WE MIGHT ALL DIE!! These also believe that these people would rather being lied to than to find out the terrible news!

However, on the other hand, others believe it's the wrong thing to do to lie to your country. This may be because they think that if they did lie, when the people found out they would go mad rather than being pleased that they protected them.

After approaching the information with open mindedness and scepticism I strongly believe that it's the right thing to do to lie because of the reasons I stated above. Therefore they should not get fired! Thanks for reading my comment!

Are there other examples of when it might be acceptable for a politician to lie?

I think that there should be fired. They should be fired as they shouldn’t be lying to us and should always be honest. There should not be lying even if it might make someone upset or happy. They should be honest and not lie especially if it is a dangerous situation.

I believe that politicians should not be fired if they’ve lied. This is because if the nation was supposedly going to run out of food for the whole country to eat and the public knew that they would begin to worry and stock pile on food. If this problem was later resolved then the public would blame the prime minister for making them waste their money on things that they did not need.
In opposition to this if the prime minister didn’t tell the public that there was a food shortage then it become too late and people would end up starving as they wouldn’t have got prepared for the shortage.
However, they should not be fired (as I said before) as they were only trying to stop the constituency from panicking.

I think that they should be fired because if they lie to us, then it would be really wrong and may cause some hatred and upset. People would probably end up disliking that person and that person would DEFINITELY have to be fired from their job.

I don’t think they should because if it was only once it’s fine but if it is more than once they should get fired.

I believe that a politician should be fired for lying to the country. Some people may take what they say seriously and lead them to make the wrong decision about something. For example, when we had the referendum for leaving the EU, Boris Johnson had a bus made that said "We send the EU £350 million a week, let's fund our NHS instead." This mislead the public as the EU gave us money back ( for example funding for farmers as of the Common Agriculture Policy). The UK statistics Authority say it is 100 million less than what Boris says. The result of this bus and lie was that some people may have voted for Britain leaving the EU.

In addition, fantastic world spoke about how they don't have money so they can't buy nice things. However, the politicians should know the consequences of their actions. For example, in any other job, if you do something wrong, you are fired. Why should politicians be different?

Also, happy fact said about how there are things we might not want to know. Yet, if we know about something that is about to happen, we have a chance to prepare. For example, with the Australian bush fires, if they had not been aware of what was going to happen, they may not have had a chance to escape and died as a result. Also, before the fires got to parts of the wild ,some of the animals were saved in zoos.

In conclusion, I believe that politicians who lie should be fired because it is not in the benefit of the general public- the people who the mp's are serving.

On the one hand, some people think that if a leader lies they should be fired. This may be because if a leader lies then that could put their whole country in danger. For example in the past leaders have stolen money from the government fund, saying that they were going to put it to good use for the country, and then uses it illegally or just keep it to themselves. For this they should defiantly be severely punished.

However, on the other hand, other people think that leaders who lie shouldn't be punished. This is because they believe that most lies are just for the good of the country. For example if a leader tells their country that their people are not at war but they are then their country wont be worried!!!!!

After approaching the information with open mindedness and scepticism I NOW strongly believe that leaders SHOULD be punished because of the reasons I stated above. Thanks for reading my comment!!

I think that if a prime minister lies then they should NOT get fired, but only punished because it is not the end of the world if they do lie but it is still very bad to not stick with there promises. But if they do lie then they should get punished but not a very big punishment.

I honestly think that leaders are allowed to lie as well as tell the truth, this is because if there was a crises with the government but it was fixable I don't believe that they should worry everyone as it is solvable and there is no need to panic and rush into drastic decisions, although they should tell the truth as it is respectful to others and is is an important part of being a leader.
