Do people in the public eye have more of a responsibility to behave well?

'In the public eye' means well-known. Someone can be in the public eye for lots of different reasons:

  • Someone might be involved in running the country, and so a lot of people know them
  • They might be very good at something - like music, or sports
  • Someone might represent an big organisation, or be seen presenting a lot in the media

I think that people in the public eye have to behave well because they set an example to society of how people should behave as others look up to them and see them in a certain way, so they have to uphold a certain image of themselves in order to have a positive impact on society. For example, the Queen; whenever she is seen by the public, she has to dress, look and behave a certain way. It is also important for her image that she hes been married only once, upholds the Royal Family traditions and goes to church every Sunday. She tries give an example of respect, religion and good principles for families and society.

I agree with Incomparable_blueberry, People in the public eye should set a adequate example for everyone. They are well known people, which means that they can have a huge impact on society. Although, it is important that everyone sets a example for the people around them to influence generally good behavior. As Mr/miss Blackberry said, the queen has to set a example for the citizens of the UK, as she is a well known figure. It is also important that we strive for a time when people do not need to force good examples on the people around them, a world where good behavior is widely practiced and is the dominant behavioral type. Many celebrities nowadays, conduct public speeches for climate action and rights for women, this shows we are going in the right direction for a kinder and more caring society.

A: Well, it's down to the type of person they are. A responsible person would take responsibility for their own actions, this links to the fact that leaders need to be responsible by being honest and caring for their people. However, what would the world be without role models- who set a example for society to follow. A person who takes responsibility for their actions would anyway be a role model for everyone else. Good role models also act as the 'second layer of action' [As I like to call it!] to people who anyway own up to their own behavior because if they suddenly do not do that any more then role models can help them get back up on their feet. To conclude, society needs role models because I understand that not everyone will own up to their actions.

Mr/miss blueberry has given a very good comment about the queen and other famous people setting an example but as they are allowed some mistakes as we all have done one or twice in our life but I do believe that famous people should not be pressured to behave all the time as they are normal people who are just doing their job ,therefore people should not do drastic illegal things but are allowed to have some mistakes in their lives .

I agree with you, however non-famous people should also be well behaved as we all impact society in one way or another. But, famous people might be seen as role models, many people might look up to them and many will know them so they must not be badly behaved because one, all the media might hear about what happened and everyone will look down on them and two, people who look up to them might try to behave in a similar way. In addition to this they might have a huge influence on society and if they misbehave many things might change in a bad way, example: politicians have a huge influence on society and if they suddenly enforce harmful laws then many will be effected in a bad way. I understand that this point might be seen as slightly weaker because not all people that are famous influence society in a huge way. For example Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon has had a big influence on society but someone like a model might not have such a big impact on society. A famous person might influence a particular person's habits, what things they wear and what views they have. As well as this, famous people are also at risk. If they behave badly or say something that is horrible a lot of people will know what they said due to the media and some people might want to hurt them.

Personally, I don't think that they have to specifically have to behave well. Like every other person on this planet, we are ordinary people. So, if someone was to be the controller of something, fame doesn't have to cover their personality! For example, Billie Eilish, a famous music artist is known by over 40,000,000 people. However, her personality and uniqueness aren't overshadowed by fame.

I understand where you are coming from but I disagree. I understand that we all have to behave well but famous people have to be even more careful, this is partly due to the media and how they present and spread stories. Famous people are on the media lots so as I said, if they do something bad lots and lots of people will know about, they will have to bear the embarrassment and it is also dangerous because people who disagree with them might go after them. For example: John F Kennedy was assassinated, he was a well known figure and since he shared his political views he was murdered, this just shows that famous people have to be careful about what they say and how they say it. I agree with you eager tiger because if you have a biography it will share lots of your information so famous people need to behave well otherwise in their biographies it will show what they did so that just gives more reason for famous people to behave well but of course, a lot of them don't.

You said that everyone is just a human and should have the same responsibilities, in a way that it true but people who are well known should set a particularly good example because they are well-known and their follows are like lemmings who like everything they do and copy it! I predict that people in the public eye should behave well because you are in the public and if you don't behave well that might change people and make them walk in the wrong direction. People who are famous should behave well because they are being watched by thousands of people outside the country and in the country and you are setting an example to people and being a great role modal.

    Brain-Stand

But on the other hand, some famous people have to not behave well because some people (who are doing sports)probably can't manage their impulsivity and try to convenience the referee that this person had cheated or not. Also, people who does sports have to kind of not to behave as they might get into an argument and other stuff.

(But, in conclusion, people in the public eye has a right to behave as they are well-known and could inspire others.)

I think that famous have more of a responsibility to behave well because if you were famous and you did something bad like stealing or racism , because they're famous the word will get around the world quicker than if a regular citizen did it.Most famous people get their own biography that states every thing from when they were born to where they are now.Even if someone isn't famous and not that many people know them, they still shouldn't do bad things because it's unnecessary and even though the word wouldn't get around as quickly as if they were famous,it would still get around. Some criminals do bad things so they can be on the news and so they can get fame even though they know they could go to prison for it.

I personally think that famous and well known individuals should be cautious about their actions since the media, paparazzi etc would be keeping track of what they are doing and if they were to do a wrongdoing they would be treated differently and life would be different for them. Following this, some people might make their life hard and the society and community would look up to them so the general public could possibly have a problem of something they done.

In summary, I think that famous and responsible people should behave and be cautious of their actions.

I think it depends on what their role is and as an example...

What if there was a person (not specified) for kids to entertain on television. That person would have to behave properly or in a way the kids would understand and do the right thing as usually these sort of programs are to help young children develop and do the right thing and especially if they are famous and well know for doing it well, if they do it wrong it will not only ruin their career but send those children in the wrong direction and even if it is not for this purpose someone who is known for doing good who then does something bad, it will be suprising as that person knows more than one person is watching them and their action will be well-known as they are well-known.

In my opinion, behaviour is not just about actions but also about what people say. We thought about people in the public eye that we look up and admire for various reasons, from singers to authors to politicians and to gymnasts. We then considered how we might feel if our ‘hero’ said something inappropriate or controversial about an issue that was important to us. We decided we would feel a mixture of upset, disappointment and even a little bit betrayed. We might even completely lose respect for that person.

Someone in the public eye has a lot of influence over people whether they like it or not. When people follow a famous person, often they are excited and interested to read anything that they write. However, if the person doesn’t consider what they are saying and the effect it might have on other people, they could not only potentially cause upset but also influence people in a wrong or negative way.

Many people are motivated by the actions of famous people and sometimes may even change the way they act or dress or behave to be more like the person they look up to. This is great if the person is behaving in a positive manner but not so good if that person’s behaviour is bad.

I believe that when people make the choice to be in the public eye, they must consider the influence they will have over others and make sure that this is positive. Therefore, I strongly believe that famous people have even more of a responsibility to behave well than the rest of us.

I think it depends on who the person is. Some people, for example famous comedians, make a living out of being controversial and behaving badly. However, these people generally appeal more to the adult population and have fewer children or young people listening to what they have to say. Adults are generally less influenced by people in the public eye so are less likely to act in a particular way because someone they like is acting that way.

People in the public eye that a lot of young people look up to and aspire to be like, for example children’s authors, popular youtubers and singers such as Beyonce, have more of a responsibility to behave well. Many children are easily influenced and could change their opinions and behaviour to match the person they look up to. People who know that they have lots of young people following them have to think very carefully about their behaviour so that children are influenced positively by them.

I would like to say this clearly: ALL people should behave well. However famous people have more of a responsibility to behave well. Not just for other people but themselves. Famous people can influence people in many ways, it is imperative that famous people behave well otherwise if the celebrity does something bad then people might follow, harming themselves and the people around them. Nowadays news spreads extremely quickly due to the media, the famous person, if they do something bad, will suddenly become infamous therefore causing people to look down on them. For example: Tony Blair was liked by many, he won a massive majority, people put their trust in him but when he got the UK involved with the war with the USA and Iraq he became incredibly unpopular because it turned out that Iraq was not making weapons of mass destruction. This brings a question: do you think Tony Blair should be blamed for his mistake? I think he should be because there was not proper evidence that Iraq was making weapons of mass destruction.

I think that celebrities and/or famous people should not get an advantage to behave badly at all. Some people think it is alright since "they are famous and they can do whatever they'd like because of that", but I disagree, and it seems like the majority of others do, too. My reason for this is that whenever famous people even do something slightly grim, they get A LOT of backlash - and although sometimes I agree with those people giving the backlash, sometimes even the smallest things celebrities do take the world by storm and that proves how desperate some people can be. So, in summary, they DO have a responsibility to behave well (physically and emotionally) because if not, they will grow disliked, thus having their career collapse.
Please keep in mind that this is NOT always the case and you are welcome to question and have an opinion on my comment. :)

In my point of view, I think that people in the 'public eye' do have a responsibility because it is quite an important place because why would it then be called 'public eye'. Also, I do not think it is possible for famous people to have a bad reputation because why would they be famous and it is only known for celebrity's so it wouldn't make sense. However, some celebritys do have a bad reputataion but they are still famous but I do not think they would be invited to the 'public eye', I think that the only people with the good reputation will be invited therefore I think the 'public eye' is only a serious matter and for those who are capable.

In my opinion I think that famous people should act as normal people because most people look up to them and if they do not act a good way than most people will think its ok to do the same. I also think that it is just rude in general to be disrespectful and everybody should be kind and selfless. If a famous person is in a situation where he or she is being provoked then they may be rude by accident. It is not that rare for a famous person to be mocked so stuff like this happens all the time. It doesn’t matter whether you are famous or not because they are only human and they feel what others feel and it shouldn’t stop them from feeling their feelings even if they may be a bit rude. I also think it is unfair that famous people have to be “perfect” because everything they do is recorded on camera and if they get touched of pushed, they could be a bit annoyed or angry but people would find it rude and start spreading rumors. E.G. Justin Bieber hates his fan or Billie Ellish is rude she hates hugs. In the end I think we need to see stuff from their point of view and think about the action we do because in the end t is our reason why they act the way they act.

I think that people in a political role or a role of power should be behaving in a more respectable way because, most people think of these people as role models to the rest of their country or place of power. The Royal Family get scrutinised for whatever they do like when Prince Andrew was friends with a criminal. Ever since, he has not been seen the same way and damaged his integrity. Social Media is massive and anything you do can be seen in a matter of seconds and with famous people it won’t go away. In a BNC lesson we looked at what is acceptable and what is not and what people in power have done and a Canadian President was racist at a fancy dress party to do with Arabians and he put on makeup to darken his skin and this is entirely unacceptable and he was sacked from the job. But, a member of the BBC said that Prince Harry and Megan’s baby looked like a chimpanzee and got sacked. I think this shows that it doesn’t matter that you are famous, no one should even consider racist thoughts, definitely not words.

In modern society, celebrities and famous people such as pop stars, footballers and politicians are the figures that many of us would look up to. The media publicise nearly every detail of these people’s lives (rightly or wrongly) and we see their faces splashed on every TV screen, newspaper headline and news report. It is because of this that I believe that famous people have an especially strong obligation to behave well. Obviously, it is up to every one of us to behave well and act as role models for those who surround us, but who does everyone really look up to? It’s those who are in power, those who have achieved incredible things and those who we all have posters of on our bedroom walls. Imagine if every megastar, world leader and inspiration started to behave in a way that was wrong, prejudiced and unfair. What would be the effect? A few of us would perhaps have such a lack of independent thinking as to assume they were right. I’m hoping that most of us would simply feel confused and angry, wondering what the role models of society had become. It is crucial that every member of community is encouraged fully to be open-minded and behave well that it could have a catastrophic effect. This is why I think it is especially important for famous people and celebrities to behave well.

I believe that famous people have more of a responsibility to behave and act normal towards their fans because if any of their fans or people of the public see what sort of thing they are doing it could possibly ruin their reputation and career. Also the more people like you-the more hate you, people who dislike you could use your bad behaviour to their advantage.Alternatively,well-known people have the responsibility of being a good role model to others since many people will admire them and will need to set an example for them. Although many footballers get mocked and disgraced for the colour of their skin, this shouldn't mean they act in any different way than they usually do, The only good way to possibly set a good example is by Standing up to the person and confronting them and stating this is wrong, doing that will benefit his fans, himself and the person too!Fans will realize that it is certainly not ok to be rude to others for their Gender, race, relationships and more.

Famous people are known worldwide and if they make the wrong remark things may terribly go wrong. You should also be careful when trying to talk privately for example when Gordon Brown (former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom) was caught on mic calling a lady who had just interviewed him a bigoted woman. He then had to apologise and the next election he was voted out of his own constituency whom he had been MP for over 15 years. Many people can catch many things on camera when people least expect it and it can cause many dreadful repercussions such as gossips and rumours and all the headlines would be on them. Their actions can affect fans because they can really get carried away by their admiration and maybe start following things they have done. They need to be honest and accept any wrong doing of theirs because if they get exposed, they will lose a lot of fans and be in trouble. They have to be calm and controlled because they need to keep their cool with the fans or they may lose them. They need to be accountable for their actions as they are famous. If there are fans in need they need to help and this could make them be considered as heroes. It may seem tough to do all these things but as a celebrity it is a hard job. You have to be ready answer any questions that flies past or there will be suspicions that they cannot be trusted.

You should set an example for the receptions so they will lean to do the right thing,' and I think that is the same thing with famous and ordinary people.

First of all, I think that people who are famous or who are involved in politics should not have an excuse to behave badly because of their reputation and they would have lost followers. Citizens who look up to that person may later act like them as they are inspired by their acts. For example rappers, nowadays most music contains swear words and children may not know what that means and may repeat that swear word to someone without knowing what it is. The media would keep track of their actions so if they were to cause a wrongdoing they would be seen as a different person personally.

I think famous people have more of a responsibility to behave well. I think this because:
Firstly, many people will look up to that person, this is because they are widely known, if they behave in a certain way many other people will follow, for example: Mahatma Gandhi showed other people how to go about certain things with peace, many people took part in the peaceful protests and looked up to him, still do. If a famous person does a bad thing then people will follow, this can be due to the media.
Secondly, famous people are well known so if they do something that is extremely controversial or bad they might be frowned upon. For example: Tony Blair got a big majority but he sent the UK to war with Iraq on the basis that they were creating weapons of mass destruction, however it turned out that they were not and Tony became extremely unpopular. Linking back to our BNC lesson, a role model is someone you look up to and a lot of famous people are looked up to but then do something bad and therefore become frowned upon.
Lastly, famous people can be targets of abuse so they need to be careful about what they say and how they say it, I agree with determined shrimp, it is unacceptable for anyone to abuse someone else but famous people have to be more careful because things they have said before could come to the surface: for example: as determined shrimp said, Justin Trudeau was at a fancy dress party that was themed Arabian knights and he wore brown make up, this was 18 years ago but in 2019 it was uncovered.
    Brain stand
Famous people do not have more of a responsibility to behave well because we all impact society and we all should do what is right.

This is what someone who disagrees with me would say.
I strongly disagree with you, this is because we all have an equal responsibility to behave well, we all contribute to society in some way, we should all do what is right. I agree with you chatty cloudberry, famous people are still normal people, I understand that they influence other people but it is the fault of the person who is being influenced if they do something bad not the celebrity's fault. If there is more of a collective awareness that you should not do something just because someone else is doing it then the amount of people doing bad things because of the person they look up to will be reduced however I understand that there will always be people who behave badly.
I also specifically disagree with your second point because, yes the famous person will look bad if they do something wrong but this does not make the celebrity have more of a responsibility to behave well, I agree partly with what serious badger said, the famous person will loose respect and might be seen as not nice however, this point does not support the argument your making, as I said, the famous person does not gain more responsibility to behave well just because of their reputation and what might happen to it if they misbehave but will loose respect if they misbehave.

People in the public eye build a strong reputation for what they do, for example a famous singer will build a reputation for being 'good.' Being a good example is the base and cement for a person to uphold their reputation. For example, Tony Blair was PM of the UK but a while afterwards was forced to resign when he led Britain into war and found no evidence of 'mass weapons of destruction' which they were trying to pursue. It was then mass hatred for him became prevalent and his reputation as a good leader went out of the window. This shows that doing something lots of people like is not enough, you have to go by the example you set for others.

Exactly, because the person feels that they should follow their role model and if the celebrity doesn't be sensible in public, then a fan will follow them. To add on, the popularity of the famous person will go down because they are "telling" people /fans too "copy" them.

It wouldn't be fair if famous people had more of a responsibility, because they are human beings, like everyone else, but I do believe that they should behave as best as possible, because pictures and videos of them are uploaded on to the internet, and people look up to them so if they do not set a good role model, then their actions may be followed by others.

I think people in the public eye should behave well because they would be known by the country, and shown on TV so people would look up to them as a role model for what to do, but if they did not behave well other people might do that as well but they also might start thinking that the person in the public eye wasn’t as good as they thought the person was and the famous person would start being treated differently by the public and that would mean that their behaviour caused members of the public not to respect the person anymore. For instance, on social media if a person that was famous posted something that was lying, mean or offensive to another person people would start getting angry at the famous person and not giving the person respect because the person did not give respect to others. Therefore, people in the public eye do need to behave extremely well.

I think People in the public eye have an immense responsibility to behave well because they are under th eye of almost everyone and setting examples for younger generations. Celebrities-for instance- are recognised by people as young as four. If they do something wrong a child may begin to follow that example. Other people under the public eye like sportspeople are known by almost everyone in the world, their actions are constantly watched and people look up to them, as soon as they do something wrong it not only reflects on them but also their country. Politicians don't really have a responsibility to behave well, but, if they don't they wont get the respect needed to secure peoples votes so they don't have a responsibility, its more of a chore they have to do to keep their job. People of power (rich people and companies) have a small obligation to behave well as it would look bad on them but most of the time they can afford to pay the price. The only time a company would have to do the right thing is if they were at risk of being boycotted enough that it effects their income and most of the time they don't care what they do as long as it is brining in money.

        Olivia @ the BNC's comment 14 Jan 2020

I am always sceptical of 'ethical' companies as I know it is incredibly hard to ensure a product is 100% ethical. this is because it is a lot cheaper to produce a product in a country where their standards are a lot lower and their labour prices are cheaper. It is also easy to divert work to people who are financially unstable and desperately need money and will do anything to get some.
Companies such as Primark claim to be 'ethical' but evidence has been found that their clothes are made in unsuitable conditions and by children as young as 10. Even their 'regularly checked' factories have been proved to overwork their workers. Sorce: BBC news and BBC panorama
However, there are companies such as Lush that strive to be as ethical as they can, this is due to the fact that the owner of the company is vegan and wants their products to be clean. Most of their products are made in the country you buy them from and some of their product have a percentage donated to charity. They have always stood against animal testing.
So, in some cases companies (like Primark) will say they are ethical because they know people will question their low prices and they want the money. But in other cases companies can just be ethical because that's how they were made.
You may argue that 'ethical' product are always more expensive because they are 'guaranteed to be fairly sourced and ethical' so you could say that in being ethical they could be making a bigger profit.
But, with prices of things being driven down by consumers the way to bring them back up is to make them aware that a product being ethical is more important than how cheap it is. If we are ever going to break the cycle of sweatshops and cheap labour.

I thinks that people( such as singers, and you tubers) should give more positive and well behaved actions, but they can come out with their own personality, one to show others that expresses how they feel. Role models that do this include Ariana Grande. You may have heard of the bombing at one of her shows, Ariana got through it, and helped many others. She did this by writing a song and giving support to anyone who needed it. She is a role model, but she expresses herself in music Aswell as her actions.
The point that I’m trying to get across is, celebrities do need to be role models, but express them selves whilst doing so.

I believe that those in the public eye SHOULD behave well because they may be a role model to people and if they want to be like that person then it will influence them to behave badly as well. And then someone else who sees them thinks it is ok to do that and starts behaving badly too. It can have a large impact on a lot of people if one person behaves badly, whether they are well-known or not. It is a responsibility for everyone to behave well in public places as it can cause chaos with others joining in with the behaviour.

In my eyes, I do think that people in the public eye should behave well as they are should set everyone an example as everyone will know them really well. For example: Presidents, Prime Ministers, Politicians and famous people have to set an image for their country and not misbehave. Like incomparable_blueberry said, the Queen has to set an image of respect to her religion, get married once and follow the Royal Families rules and tasks they are expecting for her to do. However, not all famous or important people should behave, normal people should too. Eventhough, famous people are the public eye to many people doesn't mean they should misbehave. What if they did something or commited a crime and then one day they became famous, some people could remeber them by what they have done when they were younger. Another example of famous people needing to behave is if they announced something in their speech or TV shows that was offensive or racist, many people would not agree and that would influence negative sides about that person. Currently, Brexit was meant to happen but the Government and the MP's keep on pushing the time and many people are getting frustrated! People could never believe these people when actually Brexit is going to happen when it keeps changing!

yes as in my opinion famous people are an example to all of us and we follow their example .Unfortunatly nowadays it shouldn't be but is in a way expected for normal public citizens to act or talk in a rude or offensive way , however you would never expect something like the that from a royal or famous person . This would bravely happen if never ! An acceptable example would be , walking through Tottenham hearing a group of guys swearing and acting as if it was normal (which it isn't )unlike walking through Buckingham palace and hearing a royal member swear any public person would be utterly shocked in this situation as you would NEVER expect it .So in conclusion famous people or royals should have higher expectations .

I think famous people have more of a responsibility to behave well. I think this because:
Firstly, if a famous person does something bad then a follower of that person might copy them. In addition to this, if a famous person did something bad then people might mock them on social media. I will be providing 3 examples to support my argument. For example: a famous person says a mean thing to a passer by then a follower of that person might do the same thing. For example: the famous person says that they do not like children then people on social media might mock them because of that. For example: people might copy some of Donald Trump's less admirable actions and then the copier might get mocked for doing that.

I think that when it comes to politics then it is absolutely necessary to behave responsibly. This is because they are in charge of whole countries. Furthermore, I wouldn't understand why a politician would even want to behave irresponsibly because people wouldn't vote for them otherwise.
However, one example of a rude and offensive politician would be Boris Johnson. He says things like “It is absolutely ridiculous that people should choose to go around looking like letter boxes.” Here he is referring to Muslim women who wear burkas and hijabs. Another would be “It is said that the Queen has come to love the Commonwealth, partly because it supplies her with regular cheering crowds of flag-waving piccaninnies.” Here he is referring to black people and how they come into the UK as if they just keep on coming. Evidently, these are both very offensive words. I think that Boris Johnson thinks he is entitled to say these things just because he is the PM and that the general public can't tell him anything. In parliament when he is asked to apologize, he never does and always says that his words have been taken out of context when you can clearly see what he's saying. Also, I think that fame can also make anyone feel better than everyone else if they're not the right type of person to have it. But as I mentioned before, people like Boris Johnson should always be on their best behavior when out and about and around the press. This is because they are treated like any other person. They just represent the people and what they want and make those things happen. To add, a lot of people say that all famous people should behave. I think that depending on what type of person you are this doesn't really apply to everyone. I'll try and give an example to explain. Someone might be a really big fan of Ed Sheeran. So they might start acting the same as them or start wearing the same clothes. But I don't really know a lot of people who are really big fans of the prime minister: not because of who it is now but just in general. This could be because politics is more to do with the country, economy, and business. But if things like music are more enjoyable than politics. This is just what I think, I could be wrong. I understand where everyone else is coming from because of influences.
Here is a video of things Boris has said and how people have reacted to them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5ed9oTJFKk
Here is the video of where he is asked to apologize: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxods38mAoQ

As I mentioned before people like movie stars or singers may have less of a responsibility to behave well, if they choose to. What I mean by this is some actors and singers are very well behaved when they're on TV. They don't swear and they don't do anything inappropriate. This could just because they are very good people. Or they might want to have a good reputation. A lot of people decide to do this, for example, if you act in a Disney movie. But some people just decide to miss behave because it shows their personality and who they are. Celebrities don't have to be on their perfect behavior all the time. They aren't in charge of entire countries or change things about the country than people. Most of the time celebrities have people called agents to do all the smoothing out for them if they do anything wrong. However, politicians are their own people and have to sort things out themselves. I think that whether you are a celebrity or you are a politician, it's hard to get away with doing something little because fans are always watching you and the press are always watching you.

So, I think that it really depends on how important you are and how popular you are.

I think that people in the public eye should behave well as they are a great example to lost of people. Children as young as 3 have even heard of some celebrities and look up to them. When people look up to other people, they copy their behaviour and that means if the famous person doesn't behave correctly, the people looking up to them will do the same (not everyone though); like mocking you or saying things that they said which could be offencive and they could put it on social media. The Royal Family for example are very well known and respected by many people and they have certain things that they have to do every day while behaving in a well presented way. If something big happens, like that Megan Markle and Prince Harry are going to Canada, all the newspapers are saying nasty things about her and baby Archie which isn't a good example and the news might make people think that Megan Markle and baby Archie aren't good. In a newspaper, there was a picture of a couple who were holding a chimpanzee and the headline was titled ' The Royal Baby Is Born' which is a very racist way to say that they don't like people that have a darker skin colour. That paper made people have a close minded opinion about certain people and that is why Harry, Megan and Archie are moving away to the U.S.A.

This is why I think that people in the public eye should behave better than other people.

In my opinion, more famous people should behave more than the standard citizen because if a famous person did something bad, then it would be shared all over the country, and may even lots their job, and that can mean bad news if that person was preferred by a new person standing with the role. However, a standard citizen would not be as widely spread and not be too much of a problem because they wouldn't have something as important as the famous person. So therefore I believe that more important people should take more responsibility.

I agree intrepid hurricane because if you are in the public eye and you be irresponsible then the people looking up to you could encourage younger or older people to do bad
things and spread it around social meadia (some younger people could listen to famous people or singers and as they grow up they could act the same way as them because they think it is the wright behaviour).

It could also could give the celebrity a bad reputation,so they would be fired from there job.whilst in the public eye I think you should be responsible and polite.if you say something wrong you could hurt people's feelings like a famous singer (Jessie from little mix) got bullied online because of what someone said.

I think that famous people do have a responsibility to behave well because they should set an example for us all to follow. In some cases the reason they are famous is because we watch them or admire them on social media. They influence the next generation with their clothes, behaviour also their words. For example, not everybody will think that what they are wearing is good some may disagree with certain elements of clothing or words used in records. So sometimes there can be differences in opinions over what is seen as good or bad.

However ,I think that whatever the do they should always obey the law. If they break the law like Fiona Onasanya the Peterborough MP they should be tried and sentenced accordingly. Just because they are famous they should not be treated differently, this shows people that if you do wrong things you will be punished.

I think famous people do have more of a responsibility because they are many peoples idols and who people look up to. For example ; one time, Justin Bieber spat on his fans from a balcony which caused controversy on the internet, flaring up arguments. If people look up to you, you are seen as a role model and need to act with modesty but, if you are a normal person in society, you could spit on the ground, do anything - people would judge but not post it all over the internet.

They do and they don't because they have to tell the truth to their fans and at the same time they are just like us

I think they have to behave well.Because lots of people are watching on tv and follow them on social media.children or adults might do what they do and if they are being rude people might copy them and if people look up to them and be like them
But on the other hand I see why people think they don’t have to because they are they own person and the boss of themselves and we all make mistakes and we are not perfect .

Yes, because famous people inspire people and others look up to them most and I believe that they should because they set an example to the city they have to behave a certain way for others. Like people in the public eye should be responsible and set a good example for others. e.g the queen as to act, dress, look and act a certain way to inspire people and act right.

I think famous people have more of a responsibility to behave well, especially on social media. I think this because:
Firstly, a famous person might put some fake news on social media, this means that many people will believe it because their favourite celebrity says it is true. For example: the celebrity might put: Boris Johnson does not like children, the followers of that famous person might believe that and therefore their viewpoint might be altered.
Secondly, the famous person might tell her/his followers why they should support a certain party. The famous person's facts might be completely true but since that person is famous lots of his/her followers might switch to that view point. So in summary, a famous person should not take advantage of their power and try and make people support a certain party.
Finally, the famous person should not highlight the bad in someone on social media because really that person might actually be nice. For example: Jeremy Corbin did not know his child care figures on a policy that he was launching that day, a famous person should not just highlight that as it would be mean.
In conclusion, a famous person should not take advantage of their power and make people think certain things.

I think just because they are famous doesn’t mean they can do what they want and if people look up to them it will have an impact on them because they will want to be like them so if they do something bad they will probably do the same and maybe end up in prison

It is very important for famous people to behave as they will be on the news if they don’t do the right thing and it is very embarrassing. They can be fired or stopped for even having a job .Journalists would be everywhere around them that causes anger to the person plus it will go more worldwide on social media, Instagram and Twitter. Also if they cause violence to anyone they could go to prison. They should control their power at the right time.

It can be tough being a celebrity as great amounts of people are always around you . A famous person may put some fake news up so crowds do not come to them. Some well known people may not like other people .Example :A celebrity may not like some religion and it could influence the whole country on doing it in the next generations. This is what you call disgrace. As we are on the topic of being influenced to the next generations ,people may be forced to just wear one type of clothing, having to eat the countries food and a lot others.
In conclusion, a celebrity should have there criteria ticked off of behaving in the public and they have to be doing the correct thing at all times.

One side they are in the public eye and if there in the Houses of Parliament and do something or say something mean or worse they public might think they could do it.

On the other side is that they can behave how they want as they are human( as long as they don’t break the law ).

In my opinion I think they should as they are in the public eye and are being watched.

I think famous people have more of a responsibility to behave well. I think this because:
Firstly, lots of people will see the famous person's actions whether it be on social media or otherwise, this means that many people might copy the famous persons actions and as a result of this it is important for a famous person to behave well. For example: Martin Luther King Jr started a huge movement and many people followed. In our BNC lesson we watched Emma Watson's speech and Greta Thunberg's speech, they also have started movements.
Secondly, the famous person is in the public eye so as a result of this if the famous person does bad things he/she will be frowned upon. The thing the famous person does wrong does not have to be that bad for them to be frowned upon because the media could exaggerate certain things to make the famous person look bad. Because many people know the famous person, some people could really disagree with the famous person and as a result try to hurt them.
For example: Tony Blair one a huge majority but then he sent the UK to war and many people did not like him.
In addition to this, famous people can sometimes create a reputation for a place. For example: An MP could do something really bad and then the reputation of the Commons could be wounded. In some cases, the same applies for famous people, some of them could be 'pillars of society' and what they do and say could have an impact on the place they live/work.
However, it is arguable that famous people should not have good behaviour forced on them, they are humans to and should live by the same expectations as everyone else. I understand that we all impact society but famous people more so, this is my point, famous people have a greater influence on society and us.

I think people in the public eye have more of a responsibility to behave well due to them being well-known and influential on their followers. People in the public eye should take advantage of their fame and use it to promote behaving well and set a example for the people around them. So yes, it is very important for famous people to behave well, let alone have more of responsibility to. People like Martin Luther King, who held extremely influential speeches about equality, and Emma Watson, who started the 'HEforShe' campaign all influenced people across the world to change- this shows you can use fame for the better. People can inspire, influence and straight up change people's lives, being famous means you can do all those things with a wider audience and a louder voice. To give a slightly different example, let's take a look at Apple, a company which has given the market the first revolutionary touch screen and led the way for wireless earphones. This shows that well-known companies can push the market forward and influence others like Samsung to make the Galaxy Buds and now the 'plus' version! Staying on the topic of companies, their example is very important too, a honest company would lead the way for a more truthful society. Concluding, famous people [and even companies] should have more of a responsibility to behave well and set a example for others, using their fame for good.
