Session 2: the public and the news

Play, pause, talk BNC session video!

Join Tom and Olivia for this week's session. In this video, we'll walk you through each activity, give examples and hints, and then ask you to pause and complete the activities in your own time. Check it out!

Scroll down for all of the activities from this session.

STEP 1

Recap! Can you define NEWS in seven words or less? Can you do the same for INFODEMIC?

  • What’s the difference between these words? When did news about the pandemic turn into an infodemic?

CHALLENGE: what does the suffix “-demic” mean? How does it link “infodemic” and “pandemic”?

STEP 2

Have a look at these headlines.

EARTHQUAKE HITS

NEW SPECIES OF FISH DISCOVERED

POLLUTION POISONING OUR OCEANS

CHARITY RAISES £1,000

"HAPPIEST DAY EVER" RECORDED

THIEF STEALS £1,000 FROM CHARITY

For each one, answer these questions:

  • Is this a big issue or a small issue?
  • Is this issue urgent?
  • What might happen if people didn’t know about this issue?
  • Why would it be better if people did know about this issue?

Then pretend to be a newspaper editor. You need to get rid of five of the headlines above and leave only the one which is most important for the public to know. Which one would you pick?

  • Is good news or bad news more important? Why?
bad news.png
  • Would there ever be an infodemic of good news? Why / why not?

STEP 3

Work though this PowerPoint, answering all of the questions as you go. There's a story, some statistics and a question where you have to answer from a certain point of view.

CHALLENGE: can you use the following words in a conversation before next week? SUPPLY, DEMAND, NEGATIVITY BIAS, INFODEMIC, PANDEMIC

Over to you!

    Dear BNC,
Step One) News= harmful, powerful yet useful
Step 3) The amount of fake news has doubled in the last 5 years, I am not surprised as people like to tell fake news as a prank but it is not funny because it can do real harm.
Thanks for the video and activities I enjoyed it! :)

This could be a big issue if they found new type of fish because they won’t know if the new type of fish is dangerous or not I could be like a shark or like a fish either way it could be dangerous you would nether know unless you find out about it or you could ask scientist if they know about it if not. I wouldn’t try to approach it or search for it just in case.

I have learnt that news articles are mostly bad news as people are more likely to read negative news than positive. People might also read negative news because your brain would want to keep your body safe from anything dangerous going around your town/city.

I was mind blown when I heard scientists believe that we only like bad news because I am too. When I heard good news such as, happy day for this little girl.
I feel like this doesn’t effect me so it’s boring . However when I hear bad news it is like drama everyone likes the baddie and the things they do. Bad news can effect us in good ways too such as when we are in danger when a rockslide comes falling it’s bad news but it warns us from danger. Lots of people prefer bad news because if we hear robber steals €1000 from the bank everyone wants to find out more.

I think the most important headline is POLLUTION POISONING OUR OCEANS because we don’t want to kill any animals and pollution sounds like humans fault. I think it's important to know some people show headlines with bad news get 30% more attention so more people should know about this and stop polluting if they are. I also think places like YouTube can control news because I watch a video on there sometimes an advert comes up that it thinks I want to know about.

When you asked "try and describe news in 7 words or less" I came up with: Decent and serious information about right now

On the task about the Headlines, I chose "POLUTION POISONING OUR OCEAN"
    Q1 : Its is a BIG issue
Q2:Yes, as many ocean animals are swallowing plastic and other rubbish
we throw into the sea and dying from eating it!
Q3:Animals ,such as the Sea Turtle, could possibly go extinct and the silly people who are putting their unwanted cans and rappers into the ocean would continue doing so
Q4:Because, people would start to try putting things in the bin and not in the ocean, and less sea animals would die!

Thanks :) (and do not put rubbish in the ocean please)

    Step 1)

News - Information about our surroundings and events.
Infodemic - Too much information, some which is untrue.

The difference between them is that news is facts and an infodemic is when you hear too much news and often don’t know what to believe.

    Step 2)
    EARTHQUAKE HITS:
    Big issue
If you are near where the earthquake was, yes it is urgent because people could be hurt.
If people didn’t know about the issue, then if you live nearby you wouldn’t know about potential after effects or if you knew someone there, you wouldn’t know if they were ok. However, if it didn’t affect you in any way, it wouldn’t really matter if you didn’t know.
People should know about it as it is quite important and serious.

    NEW SPECIES OF FISH DISCOVERED
Big issue as it is quite a big discovery to find a whole new species of fish
    Not really
    Nothing would really happen
If people didn’t know, it would be fine.

    POLLUTION POISONING OUR OCEANS
    Big issue
Yes, it’s urgent as it is very important
If people didn’t know about the issue, then they could continue doing what they are doing and therefore making the oceans worse.
People should know as it is a very urgent issue and if we don’t do something soon, then there will be big consequences

    CHARITY RAISES £1000
Not really a big issue as many charities raise £1000
    Not urgent
If people didn’t know, it would be fine
It doesn’t affect people if they know, unless the charity is very important to them, in which case they would want to know.

    “HAPPIEST DAY EVER” RECORDED
It depends on what the reader’s view of ‘happy’ is.
    Not really urgent
If people didn’t know about the issue, it would probably be fine.
It depends on the story and whether it is important because it could be really great news that affects a lot of people, or it could just be something good has happened that only affects a handful of people.

    THIEF STEAL £1000 FROM CHARITY
Could be a big issue depending on what the charity is
    Not really urgent
It wouldn’t really matter if people didn’t know.
They should know, but if they didn’t it would be fine.

I think the most important issue is POLLUTION POISONING OUR OCEANS because this is a massive problem which is affecting the whole world, not just one local area.
I think bad news is most important as it raises awareness to encourage people to take action on what news they hear.

In current times, I want to hear good news about coronavirus and lockdown restrictions, partly because we have already heard so much bad news this past year, that I just want to hear something good. However, before coronavirus (ages ago!) I would have wanted to hear bad news because it would be more surprising and would inform me of important, serious things.

    Step 3)

I would make more of one of them - say 15 cupcakes and 5 cookies, because if a customer saw that there were only 5 cookies left, it would make them want to get a cookie as there are only a few left.

I would make all cupcakes as they would sell faster, therefore creating a greater profit.

You should start making iced-buns as it would bring in more customers, giving you more money. If you didn’t, and other bakeries started selling iced-buns, your customers would go there, meaning you would have less money. The customers have power over what you make, as if there is no demand for something, it would be a waste of money making it. However, if you don’t supply something they demand, then they are going to go somewhere else to get the thing that they want (supply and demand)

Bad news is most likely to be reported because more people like to read bad news, so there is a greater demand for bad news, so reporters supply more bad news than good news.

Why - because there is a higher demand for bad news, so reporters supply more bad news.
Why - because more people want to read bad news, so they are less likely to want to read good news.
Why - because there is a greater demand for bad news, so reporters change the news slightly to appeal to the public.
Why - because people prefer bad news to good news, so when reporters only supply good news, less people want to read it.
Why - because reporters change their news to appeal to the current demand of the public.

I think the people in the news stories are most responsible for bad news because if someone deliberately did something that was bad, then it would be reported as bad news.
    Arguments for other people:

The reporters are responsible for bad news because they are the ones that report it and they choose what to report.
The public are responsible for bad news because they choose what they read, which affects what the reporters report due to supply and demand.
The news company owners are responsible for bad news because it is their company so they oversee everything that is reported.

In my opinion I would be more interested in the good news however I would like to know the bad news before the good so I don't give my hopes up. These days people are more interested in bad news because of maybe the negativity in the community or it is because something happened before in the place or the country and they want to know what caused this. On step three I think that all of the people are the same because the people involved in the news are the ones who caused it and then the public get involved by sending photos and videos on social media which alerts the reporters and they come to report it, finally the news company agree with it cause they want more viewers on there channel or more people reading the news papers.

Hi shining_journalist here!🤓😅and these are my answers to the questions/steps:
    Step 1
News:The things that happens in the world!
Infodemic: Information spreads while we are in the pandemic
    Challenge:
The difference between infodemic and pandemic is that infodemic is information that’s spreading to everyone while we are in pandemic.Pandemic on the other hand is that the coronavirus is ruining the worlds populations also the conronavirus is affecting many people lives.
    Step 2
Earthquake hits: This would be a big issue I know this because as we already know that earthquakes can cause lots of damage in the area so many peoples lives can also be in danger as well this also would be a urgent news as many people might get injured and hurt so it will need to be urgent that this issue should open to the public what might have happened if people didn’t know about this if people didn’t know about this then you will not be aware of the things that are happening, the damages that has been happened also how dangerous that area could be.Why might it be better if people knows about this situation well then you would be aware if that area if save for you to go near, you would also find out how much of the damage has been caused/how much of this has affected peoples lives.
Well I can do it up to this much see you soon and thanks for reading!

Recap! Can you define NEWS in seven words or less? Can you do the same for INFODEMIC?
    Here is my sentence

"A stage to communicate recent developments around the world."
Here is my sentence for infodemic
"Data spreads either really or dishonestly."

What’s the difference between these words? When did news about the pandemic turn into an infodemic?
I think that the deafferents between these words is news is a part of communication that keeps us informed of the changing events, issues, and characters in the world outside. Though it may be interesting or even entertaining, the foremost value of news is as a utility to empower the informed.
Furthermore, infodemic is fundamentally for individuals making statements that could either be valid or bogus.

    Earthquake,
An earthquake hitting could be one of the worlds natural disasters, though it could also be one that could just about knock over a glue stick. For example if the reporter was to say, "tree moving earthquake hits!" then it would be a big deal, although if they were to say "bottle shaking earthquake hits" then it might be in the back of the news paper at the most.

I think POLLUTION POISNING ARE OCEAN is the biggest issue along with a NEW SPECIES OF FISH because if all are fish die out it will effect the whole eco system because for saying a turtle will eat a prawn but there are no prawns for them to eat so they have to find other food but when they eat the other food it will damage the normal eater of that fish then that eater of the fish will have to get new food, and then it would continue, but for the new species of fish if it was classed as a small issue/problem fisher men or just normal public would have no clue if it was a poisonous species of fish or if it was not edible so fishermen could not catch it, or even if it was like a jellyfish they are close to shore and if they touch you you could even die! because no-one has told us if they are safe or not and if a person ate it the poison would still be in the human body unless it was searched through for poison (which they probably wouldn't).

    Dear BNC,
    Earthquake hits.
Is this a big issue or a small issue?
Well this is actually a colossal issue but people will read it to find out what happened and about 90% of people will more than likely read sad news than good news or happy news it is tragic to hear that about 100,000 people have died in a colossal earthquake and some people will want to read about it but not in a bad way they just want to hear and read what happened.
Some people will think an earthquake is nothing but in reality they are a big hit and people die and they don't know what it's like to be in one and if they had actually been through the tragedy of an earthquake.
People do not know how hard it is to lose someone that was in an earthquake and some people don't even think anything of it.

    Step1

News - News gives information about different topics.

Infodemic - An Infodemic gives you lots of misinformation.

The difference between them is that news gives you facts and truthful information, but an infodemic gives you too much news that could be fake and unnecessarily exaggerated.

The suffix ‘demic’ goes back to the ancient Greek root ‘demos’ and the suffix ‘demic’ means a distinct population of people.
It links “Infodemic” and “pandemic” together because an enormous population of people are getting coronavirus and lots of people are sharing, spreading and getting lots of misinformation and fake news which is mainly about the pandemic.

    Step2

    Earthquake hits
Is this a big issue or a small issue? - This is a big issue because an earthquake could cause severe damage to important building officials and homes leaving people homeless, some can get killed or badly injured.
So it depends on if the earthquake is big or small, if it was small, some of these things might not happen and might just cause minor damage.

Is this issue urgent? - As I’ve said before, it depends on the severity of the quake, if it’s big it will cause a lot of damage to buildings, homes and a lot of places out there, and people could get hurt.
What might happen if people didn’t know about this issue? - Nothing would happen, it doesn't make a difference whether people knew about this or not because they would just carry on with their daily lives.
If they did hear about this, they will just talk about it for a while and then carry on.
Why would it be better if people did know about this issue? - Because it's a very important and serious issue and a huge deal to know and be aware of something like this, if you don't know the consequences, then you will not be prepared enough and cautious when these disasters suddenly happen, such as having your home and businesses insured.

    New species of fish discovered

Is this a big or small issue? - This is a small issue because it’s nothing life changing or threatening or beneficial even. It is okay if we are not always aware of new species of fish found in the ocean. Having said that, if they are not dangerous to other fishes and to the sea world then that's fine.

Is this issue urgent? - It’s not urgent because it’s not something major news or a deal.

What would happen if people didn’t know about this issue? - Nothing would happen

Why would it be better if people knew about this? - Because it’s really interesting for people who love science and could also encourage you to get into investigating and experimenting which would help you when you’re older.

    Pollution poisoning our oceans

Is this a big or small issue? - This is a big issue because it could affect humanity everywhere.

Is it urgent? - Yes, because it’s serious and big.

What would happen if people didn’t know about this? - If people didn’t know they could be at risk of the consequences and could carry on doing wrong things which contribute to this.

Why would it be better if people knew about this? - Because then they could try and help solve this problem by volunteering to help their community.

    Charity raises £1000

Is it a big or small issue? - Small because there are so many charities that are doing the same thing, some raise more, some raise less.

Is it urgent? - No, because it’s not anything new, people do it all the time.

What would happen if people didn’t know about this? - Nothing would happen, people would just carry on with their lives.

Why would it be better if people knew about this? - I think it would be better for people who care about others in need, because then they could help raise more money. Personally, I think it would be better for muslims to know more about this because one of the important things in Islam is to giv to charity and to contribute with others.

    “Happiest day ever!” recorded

Is this a big or small issue? - It depends on the viewer’s opinion of the video and also if the viewer likes the whole point or moral of it.

Is it urgent? - It’s not urgent for some people as it’s not important but some people might consider that it is.

What would happen if people didn’t know about this? - It wouldn’t matter as it’s just a pretend video.

Why would it be better if people knew about this? - Because the video could have some important message, life lesson or moral.

    Thief steals £1000

Is it a big or small issue? - Big, because it’s a lot of money

Is it urgent? - yes it is urgent but not as urgent as it would be to lose a life. if no one’s life is in danger and no real damage is done. But it would be urgent if the thief was still around, so that police can arrest him, but if the thief wasn’t near the area after he stole the money which is still bad as money is valuable it’s not urgent compared to one’s value of life.

What would happen if people didn’t know about this? - They wouldn’t be more cautious because a thief is around.

Why would it be better if people knew about this? - because then they could be more careful with their money and belongings.

I would choose ‘Pollution poisoning our oceans’ because this is a worldwide problem which could affect us in dangerous and even life-threatening ways that can’t be reversible e.g. pollution could start an illness that could be in our water which we drink from and might not have a cure. If everyone heard about it, we could all come together to stop it from happening.

I believe that bad news is more important because then we learn from whatever the bad news is and try to avoid it as much as possible so that we’re safe.

Even though good news is great for lots of things, I'm more interested in bad news because it has one more advantage; as I’ve said before, we can learn from bad news and try our best not to repeat the mistakes that others made, or that we’re making. It can inform us of serious things so that we are prepared and ready for it, or to make sure that we aren’t doing things that contribute to the problem (without us knowing) and to help make it better instead.
Yes, there could be an infodemic that’s good news, but it doesn't mean that it’s not fake. Even though it's good news, it could make you feel glad about wrong or untrue things, for example, BREAKING NEWS: Coronavirus is officially gone and everything will go back to normal straightaway! This will make you think that you’re allowed to mix again and actually you would spread it even more.

    Step3

Scenario 1 - I would make 10 of each because I know that customers equally like both and if I had more than the other, then I will get less customers and they will be unhappy.

Scenario2 - I would make 15 cupcakes and 5 cookies because I know that the customers like cupcakes more so they will quickly buy it, but that dosen’t mean that they no longer likes cookies, so if they see that there’s only a few cookies left, they’ll quickly pay for it in case it runs out, which means that you’ll get an even bigger profit.

Scenario3 - You could start selling iced donuts with sprinkles, because I know that children love donuts like this so if the parents notice that the children desperately want it, they might buy it and could become regular customers which means you’ll get more money as well. It’s a win-win!
Bad news is more likely to be reported because if you know people demand bad news then you’ll more likely supply more bad news so that you get more followers, if you don’t supply and demand, more people will go and see other channels, therefore your channel will become bad news.

    Scenario4:

Why - Because people DEMAND more bad news, so to get more people on social media, they have to SUPPLY their news.

Why - Because people find that bad news is more interesting so people want to SUPPLY more.

Why - Because there are a lot of things going on right now, such as covid and people lie about it to make more people interested.

Why - Because people find bad news more attractive so they DEMAND it more.

Why - Because people often SUPPLY bad news more because people DEMAND it more.

The public are the ones responsible for spreading bad news because they could make up bad news and tell a person that they know and then it will spread from person to person.

Because the public don’t check the facts and evidence or question the sources, which spreads misinformation more as some people aren’t being cautious of what they see or hear online.

    earthquake

this is important as if people didnt know a earthquake was coming people could get hurt very badly

    New species fish

this could be bad or good as it could be poisoned or could eat you or you can eat it or have it like a pet there are 2 sides to this story. I think people should know about this .

    charity £1000

charity raises £1000 not such a big deal as it is only £1000 people some times can get more like captin tom he did over 100 laps before his 100th birthday and raised 33 million pounds or more. I don't think people should know about this

    ocean polluted /poisoned

ocean polluted /poisoned this very bad as this could stop the eco- systm which could and that means more animals could go extinct. I think this should be shared

I agree with you aware rabbit, because people won't know if there is a virus, disease or even a war. That is why the news is important to it is to let you know what is going. That is why people should listen to the news.

    Dear BNC,
    New species of fish discovered.
Is this a big issue or a small issue?
Well this is actually big issue because if people kill them and eat them they will need to know more about the fish because they might have poison or something maybe to protect them from getting eaten and then that sort of fish will get put on the news and they more than likely will say this 'Be careful of this looking fish it has poison in it and this person ate it please be carful'
    stay safe talk soon.😀😎😁👌👍

1news: an information that almost everyone follows to learn what is happening around the world. 2 earth qauke hits because it would be ongoing and it may concern your family and freinds. i feel like fake news is bad but it could be good because if you were upset about your favourite celebrity dying fake news could tell you that they didn't and it would make you happier.

    Step 1-
News - Important events happening currently being shared globally.
Infodemic - Too much information being given to someone simultaneously
Challenge: demic means a big amount of something. Therefore, infodemic means a lot of information.
    Step 2-
I chose the headline: EARTHQUAKE HITS
Is this a big issue or a small issue?
It is a big issue because it involves with a lot of people's lives.
    Is this issue urgent?
It is urgent because it is recent and for people living there they might want to check for aftershocks.
What might happen if people didn’t know about this issue?
People living near would want to know whether the Earthquake reached their city. Also, people might want to check on their relatives that live there.
Why would it be better if people did know about this issue?
People living near the Earthquake could be prepared for aftershocks. Others would want to check on their families.
    Step 3-
    1. I think the customers have power over which treats appear in the bakery. This is because they demand the treats and the baker has to supply them or no one will come to their bakery anymore.
    2. Negative news gets more attention because people like to be warned of the bad news. For example, if Covid-19 hadn't been on the news people would still walk around touching and spreading germs but they were warned to stay inside and keep a distance. Also, if something bad happened somewhere where your family lives, you would want to check on them to make sure they are alright.
    3. I think reporters and the public are at fault. The reporters started giving more bad news and now the public keeps on demanding for bad news. Now bad news gets more attention. The people in the news stories are just witnesses or experts and are talking because they are told to.The news company owners just print what the reporters give them which is bad news.

    News
    Current affairs information for everyone.
    Infodemic
    Information spread
    Challenge
    Demic means spread.
I am more interested in good news.
I don't think there will be an infodemic of good news because more people are interested in bad news.
    Scenario 1
I would have enough room for 10 of each item because half of 20 is 10.
    Scenario 2
I would make 05cookies and 15 cupcakes because people only eat the cupcakes but sometimes it's nice to change it up.
    Scenario 3
    I would make iced buns.
    I would make iced buns.
    The Baker.

Infodemic: unreliable and makes something harder to achieve.
News: Something important but there is fake news too.

EARTHQUAKE HITS: This is a big issue- yes- they could get badly hurt- because they could stay inside and protected.

NEW SPECIES OF FISH DISCOVERED: This is a small issue- No- Nothing unless it is a poisoned fish or something- because they can be more careful.

POLLUTION POISONING OUR OCEANS: this is a big issue- yes- we will carry on killing our land- because we can change.

CHARITY RAISES £1,000: This is a small issue- No- Nothing- because people can be happy for the charity.

"HAPPIEST DAY EVER" RECORDED: this is a small issue- no- nothing- because it would be nice to watch someone be happy.

THIEF STEALS £1,000 FROM CHARITY: this is a big issue- yes- people might get robbed- because they will be more cautious.

    I would pick EARTHQUAKE HITS.

No because an infodemic is a bad thing that causes people problems.

    10 cupcakes and 10 cookies.
    12 cupcakes and 8 cookies.
I would try my hardest to make them.

    Burnet news club
    Step 1
    News
News tells you about different events.
    Infodemic
information spread that is inaccurate and accurate

    Step 2
    Earthquake hits
This is a big issue because an earthquake can kill or injure 1,000’s of people.
This is urgent because it can have a big impact on people.
If people didn’t know about this issue then they wouldn’t be prepared or check other people and they might get, seriously injured or get killed.
If people knew about this issue it would be good because they can offer support with aid.

    New species of fish discovered.
I don’t think this is an important issue because it doesn’t have a big impact on the world.
I don’t think this issue is urgent because it isn’t going to change our lives instantly like if we get hurt by an earthquake and we can always come back to the fish later.
If people didn’t know about this issue I think nothing bad will happen because it isn’t to serious.
I don’t think finding out about this issue will have a good effect because I think while preparing for something that will change our lives and we hear about a new fish we will lose interest, into something less important.

    Pollution poisoning our oceans.

This is a big issue because if we pollute in our oceans and fish eat the plastic fishermen will catch that fish produce it and give it to other people which, could make us really sick.
This issue is urgent because it could hurt fish really badly and could hurt us really badly.
If people don’ know about this issue it would be very bad because if people aren’t aware they could pollute more and this would have a very big impact on us.
It would be a lot better if people know about this issue because if people know they could try as hard as they can to try and stop this.

    Charity raises 1,000£
I don’t think Charity raising a thousand pounds is a big issue because £1000 isn’t that much money compared to how much money the government spends in a year.
This isn’t an urgent reason because £1000 isn’t a lot of money.
Nothing would really happen because it doesn’t really matter.

    Happiest day ever recorded

This is not a big issue because it is positive.
It isn’t urgent because it is not really important.
Nothing is really going to happen really.

    Thief steals £1000 in Charity

I think this issue is quite big because there is a thief on the loose that could potentially hurt you, but there are more important issues in the world.
It isn’t as urgent as the other issues but it is still quite urgent.
If people didn’t know about this issue I think it would be bad because they wouldn’t lock their doors properly they would keep their gates open (if they have one) so the thief would easily be able to rob them.
It would be better if people knew about this issue because they would be safer and be more observant of things outside.

    Step 3
I listen to bad news more so I can learn how to stop the bad news from happening to me or happening to other people (like climate change).

    Step 4
I don’t think there can ever be an Infodemic on good news because Infodemic usually involve fake news or incorrect misleading news.

    Step 5
    Scenario 1
I would sell 10 of each but if one made more profit then I would make one of those.

    Scenario 2
I would sell more cupcakes but I would make a few cookies for the customers who like the cookies more.
    Scenario 3
I would stop making cookies and just make icing buns and cupcakes.
    Step 4
The Baker has the more power because he bakes all the treats and owns the bakery. The customers have a little bit of power because if the baker makes more treats that the majority of customers don’t like, they won’t buy from him anyone and it will be bad for business.
    Step 5
Supply and Demand could happen at the cinema’s and shops.
More people will be more interested in bad news but they want to hear good news more often.

    Step 6
I am choosing the cross arms actions

    Step 7
The one I chose was the news company owners
I think the news company owners are the most responsible for bad news because they own the news and they choose which newspapers get published.

Step 1) For the virus we all have to be very positive because we all know that all of this is scary, many people are loosing there lives but we can not loose faith.
Step 2) We can't do our everyday things outside but we need to make the most of doing it inside. I have a few ideas of what we can do inside: Watch movies
    Draw a pictures
    Play board games: etc

When we come across false information on social media, it is only natural to feel the need to call it out or argue with it.False information on social media is a big problem. Misinformation and disinformation are both, at their core, incorrect information. However, the motivation for sharing the content and the actors who share it are very different. Misinformation sometimes refers to an “honest mistake” — for example when an article written by a generally reputable media property includes an error and it spreads organically. Disinformation, by contrast, is deliberately wrong and spread tactically. It is explicitly intended to cause confusion or to lead the target audience to believe a lie. Disinformation is a tactic in information warfare. But we can reduce these fake news by asking the five questions for media analysis
    1- acsses the source
    2-go byond headlines
    3-identify the author
    4-check the data
    5-examin the supporting evidence
    6-turn to fact checkers!!
