The Rohingya People

The Rohingya are a stateless Indo-Aryan speaking people who reside in Rakhine state, Myanmar (which was previously called Burma). There were estimated one million Rohingya living in Myanmar before the 2016-2017 crisis begun. By 2017 December, an estimated 625,000 refugees from the Rakhine state, have crossed the border to Bangladesh and are now living in army camps since August, 2017. The majority are Muslim and the manority are Hindu. The UN have described the Rohingya as the most 'persecuted minorities' in the world. The Rohingya has faced many attacks from the military in 1978, 1991-1992, 2012,2015,2016-2017 and particularly 2017-2018 when most of the Rohingya population of Myanmar was driven out of the country into the neighbouring Bangladesh.
