Dear Mr J Cleverly, There is a crisis. Hong Kong need our help. People are protesting because they want freedom from China. Smoke and police gather and rubber bullets are being shot everywhere. This is the life of the people in Hong Kong, terifying, a life of running and hiding. In 1997 Britain signed Hong Kong back over to China. The deal the two countries made was called the one country two systems. Inside the deal it says that all people should have their own freedoms and rights in life and that Hong Kong have their own law. I think that Britain should intervene because it isn’t safe for people to live there because bullets are being shot and people are being arrested and hurt for no reason. Did you know, in July three authors from Hong Kong went missing. These people wrote books that were banned in China. They disappeared in Hong Kong and then reappeared in China’s prison a couple of weeks later. I also think we should intervene because we were in charge of them for 150 years so they are sort of our responsibility. If our country was being taken over, I would want people to help us. There are a few consequences that could happen if we do intervene though.
1.We are pretty good traders with China and we may not get as much as we do now.
2.There might be a world war 3.
3.China are one of the biggest counties in the world.
4.They have the biggest army in the world.
5.They might try to punish us.
Although all of these things could happen, the chances are quite low. About ten percent per consequence is how likely it is. In my opinion, according to what we’ve learnt this term, I think that most of the people who want someone to intervene, are young people. I would definitely like there to be peace between the UK, China and Hong Kong. Please may you and the Conservatives take my concerns to Parliament and discuss this crisis. I hope the people of Hong Kong get all the peace they deserve. Mr Cleverly, please help Hong Kong because it is no longer safe to live there. It is dangerous, very dangerous. I really hope the rest of your party agree with me and if you want to do something, then you. Please think about this very carefully and try your hardest (as always) in parliament. Please make Hong Kong happy again.
