Hong Kong - Featured image 8

Dear Harriet Harman,

My name is interesting_library and I attend Michael faraday School and I am 10 years old. I am a member of BNC. I have been educated on Hong Kong in crisis.

Firstly I'd like to update you on the cuurent situation. Hong kong protest started in June against proposal to allow extradition to mainland China. However, many people fear that hong kong will lose independence given to them by a former British colony. Hong Kong has more rights than china under a "1 country, 2 systems" rule.

In the 1800's britain ruled Hong Kong for 150 years.

In 1997 britain handed Hong kong back to china. This was called the "Sino-British Joint Declaration". Hong Kong will keep the legal, political and banking systems set by Britain.

As you are an influential person in Parliament, I would like to suggest some ideas of what to do next to improve the situation in Hong Kong.

I believe that Britain should intervene and be part of Hong Kong and China's negotiations.

In Britain we believe in democracy. Hong Kong is trying to be a democratic republic and we should support them. This is a good opportunity to do the correct situation and freedom of speech. My opinion is supported by many civillians in Hong Kong and britain.

Supporting Hong Kong may lead to many challenges e.g: china will be angered about Britain intervening. Another will be Boris Johnson (our prime minister) wont let us go because of Brexit.

Please get involved in this as you believe in democracy and so do the people of Hong Kong. You also believe in human rights, so join me and support Hong Kong.

Thank you for reading, I will be wating eagerly for your response.

Yours sincerely,

interesting_library
