To Faisal Rashid,
Our school has learnt about the Hong Kong crisis. Hong Kong was ruled by the British as a colony for around 150 years and they have a shared history. In the agreement that was signed by China and Britain, they both promised to make sure that the way of life in Hong Kong would remain the unchanged until 2047.
180,000 people who were born in China now live in Britain because of the argument they had. In 2015, five Hong Kong booksellers who sold books that were critical of Chinese leaders vanished and we do not want to end up like them.
China went back to ruling Hong Kong in 1997 and Britain imported £42.6 billion worth of good from China. In China you can be put in jail for criticising the government. Brexit is due to happen soon and so Britain needs to spend its important time working on that.
There are more people who live in China than any other country and 92%% of people living in Hong Kong have Chinese heritage. So therefore I don’t want to interfere because I think it will make everything worse.
