Dear Mr Gove
I am a Year 6 student at Hammond Junior School in Lightwater, Surrey, which is part of your constituency in Surrey Heath. I am writing to you with regards to the terrible political crisis that is currenty going on in Hong Kong. I'm sure you will agree, that a resolution to the situation must be found as soon as possible as many innocent people are suffering. I strongly believe that it is our responsibility to intervene and help the residence of Hong Kong return to a state of peace free of China's unlawful influence. Hong Kong should have human rights and the human rights should be protected by Britain.
Firstly, it is my strong belief (and I'm sure it will soon be your's and many other members of pariment's too) that we should intervene because, if China breaks the agreement then Britain will have to step in. The agreement (one country, two systems) clearly states that it is Britain's responsibility to intervene when nessersary. I'm sure you would agree that it would not be satisfactory if Britain declined Hong Kong's request for help.
Secondly, Hong Kong rely on britain, for example, Hong Kong was ruled by the British as a colony for around 150 years and they have a shared history. Continuing, Britain has been climbing up the population rank for a few decades now and if we dont help Hong Kong then over 119,990 people will leave britain and return back to the decaying Hong Kong. We will go from 66.44 million to 66320010 and we will go down the population rank.
In conclusion, it is clear that Hong Kong does have human rights and the human rights should be protected be Britain and China should respect Hong Kong.
