Does every job deserve the same amount of money

Does everybody deserve the same amount of money earned in their job?

In my post I am going to be explaining why I think most people deserve the same amount of money earned, I will also be explaining why I think it is unfair some people get much less money when they work just as hard.

Right now because of covid-19 some jobs have closed and some people now have to work from home. However, in my post I am going to be talking about when jobs were not closed and working fully. As you know there are many jobs and everybody works really hard in each job so is it fair that some people get more money then others. Here are some jobs and how much money they get every year in average.

. Doctor - £23 000-£47 000

. Rubbish Collecter - £17 000

. Footballer - £25 000 000

. Teacher - £25 000 - £32 000

. Politician - £15 000 - £79 000

As you can tell some jobs get much more money then others, is this fair? For example, I understand footballers work really hard but do they really deserve that much money compared to a doctor. Most doctors have to be trained and know what they're doing since they go to university so it is really hard to be a doctor, they save so many lives and still, in my opinion, don't get enough money. But, I am not just talking about doctors, it is only an example. When you think about it every job is really hard and without one something would be missing in our world. Every job is important!

Also, the reason I said most people deserve the same amount of money earned (or a higher amount of money earned) is because some social media influencers get a lot of money but I think you should do it for fun not just for the money. But I am not saying they shouldn't earn money at all I am just saying some people get paid a lot when the whole point is for the enjoyment.

What do you think? Do you think it is fair that some people earn more?

This is a great conversation starter, hardworking_apple! You say that social media influencers should "do it for fun not just for the money". Does this mean that any other worker who enjoys their job should do it for fun and not for money too?

Thank you Katie, I just mean that many people who are on social media are sometimes younger and I just feel like you should do it for fun and for the enjoyment. I understand some people have made a living out of it but I feel as if some people just do it for the money but shouldn't it be for fun? People can do jobs for fun as well but they also do it for to help people and our planet and themselves. But social media is for fun right? This is just my opinion as some people do it for fun and to laugh.

You raise a really interesting idea! It is also something we have considered at the Bank. You may find this of some help when discussing this idea: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/knowledgebank/why-are-football-players-paid-so-much

I do not think so because doctors and nurses are live saving and they are getting a lot less money than footballers who are as not as important, they are just there to entertain people (no offence)

I think it's a fair point that we couldn't do without doctors and nurses! Do footballers have value in the fact they help other people have jobs though - like everyone working at the stadium on match days?

I think that not all jobs do not deserve the same a mount of money because some jobs like Doctors require qualification's that can be for years. But most jobs that don't need much should have the same amount of money.

Personally I don't think that is unfair. Say that if you were a teacher, you educate children in a class. At maximum there are 40 pupils in a class. They teach them what the subjects are and all about them. If you were a doctor/nurse, you at least save 1-5 lives everyday. Or, you treat people for their illness or injury. Even though teachers work very hard I think that doctors deserve that amount of money.

I don't think it is fair because you might train for ages to get a job and then only get a small amount of money when there might be a job that you get paid a lot of money and you don't even need many skills to do it.

I don't think this is fair because doctors and teachers work harder than footballers.
It would be fair if footballers got the same as teachers and doctors get more because doctors are more at risk than teachers.

i genielly think it is mainly because merch and sponsors and also when fans pay for a lot of money for tickets to go and watch the games, and also as if they go up a division the club gets a lot of money

No because you get amounts of money if your job is more important or not.

I don't think it is fair that some people earn more money because a rubbish collector doesn't drive around picking peoples rubbish for fun they do it so peoples bins don't overflow, however a footballer plays football for fun. I also think that a doctor should earn a bit more money than a rubbish collector because a doctor saves lives and helps people who are sick.

I think it depends on the job. Footballers earn much more money than nurses and doctors which are actually more important than football and entertainment.I feel like people like cleaners, nurses and other people who help maintain hygiene should have an increase in their salary now because presently, we have realised how important these people are. Also, I think that if a footballer gets paid 25,000,000 pounds teachers should be paid around 30 million pounds because of what they do. They look after about 30 children for around 6 hours 5 days a week; do you think a footballer would be able to do that? I think that footballers should earn money because people come from around the world to see football matches and they should get a portion of the money people pay (the organisers and people who work in the stadium should also get some) but 25 million was not what i was expecting. Politicians also work very hard; along with hardwork, they also have a big risk on their belongings so compared to footballers they get less but compared to everyone else they get a suitable amount.

No, every job has it’s own value. For instance somebody like a doctor or nurse gets paid more money than a person who is a shop keeper because they have a more important job.

I think it a mix or both that some people should have higher pay than other but if im honest i think cleaners pay should be highr since if we didnt have them rubbish would be all over the floor but if you think if it the other way around if there was cleaners even more plastic and so on would be dumped in the ocean and burnet making toxic fumes for our earth

Hi there, I'm decisive_redcurrant and this is my comment!! hope you agree with me

My dads thinks that all jobs should not be paid the same because.
"Every jobs has to be paid differently, because some jobs require special skill and some don't require special skill." "Skillful jobs require special training and education certificates and not skillful jobs will only probably take like your passport or something similar." My dad used a very interesting and deep phrase and said that "A prime minister/president can not have the same pay as to what a cleaner or a bin man earns." I find this as a very good example of why people should not get a fair pay! do you agree with me though???

MY SISTER said that people should get the same pay because.
"Some jobs are not equal because for example."
"People that are footballers might get over £3,000,000 a annum(year) but a person that just a substitute might only get paid £1,000,000 which in her opinion she doesn't like because there both doing the same job and deserves to get paid fairly!!" But in my opinion, I don't agree with that because If you a player playing on the field your technically doing all the work but A substitute, is just sitting there waiting for someone to come of then they will play. In some cases they will be sitting there for to whole match doing nothing and they still get paid!!
Honestly in my opinion, I agree with my dad because not everyone should get the same pay because then people will get angry and some jobs need high expectations and some don't. So who do you agree with?!
    Hope you liked my comment

I think a footballer should earn less because there not doing anything to help the world unlike Doctors , Rubbish Collecters , Teachers and Politicians who all do stuff for the world A teacher – they help people have an education watch helps then we get a job and money which helps them in life a lot , A rubbish collector they help the environment by picking up every rubbish every day early in the morning just so people can use there bins , A doctor – they help people stay alive they help them when they are ill and a Polotition is a person active in party politics, or a person holding or seeking an office in government. Politicians propose, support and create laws or policies that govern the land and, by extension there for i prove my point

Hi there, my name is unique_tiger and this is my comment!
After listening to my parent this is what my dad thinks
My dad says that not all jobs should be paid the same because some jobs can only be for the one that are more smarter and more academic and for someone that hasn’t studied about that job is most likely to destroy the business.
    My opinion
I agree with. My dad because also some jobs require skill and some jobs don’t. And for someone to just walk on not knowing anything about the job isn’t fair
    Hope you enjoy with me

This would be a bad idea, as hard jobs that get a lot of money will die out because they ill go to the easy jobs. Also we need rough jobs because if we don’t have them it will effect life. Would you rather be awarded 2000£ for collecting some bins or for making a motorcycle from scratch.
