Should smoking be banned to help the NHS .

I think smoking should be banned because so many people are gaining health issues like lung cancer and this is taking up a lot of time and money for the NHS. I think we should help stop that and so should the government . We could help stop this by not smoking and convinice the goverment to ban it.The Majority of supermarkets have been putting sentences on packets like smoking can cause lung cancer which is helping to put people off of smoking. But what would be even more helpful is to get rid of cigarettes once and for all. What do you think we should do about it?

Yeah I think smoking should be banned because it’s bad for your lungs and the environment

I agree except that if you ask a smoker ‘ can you stop smoking tomorrow? ‘ they would most likely say yes but smoking is to addictive because of the nicotine in the tobacco.

I don't think it should be banned as it would be hard for people who are addicted to smoking to instantly stop. If this did happen, they might turn to alcohol instead, then if they got drunk and hurt themselves, they would still end up in the NHS's care. I do think some sort of regulation should be put in place either to limit how many you can buy or the strength the cigarettes are.
It's also very bad for the environment as secondary smoking could occur where you inhale other people’s smoke which they exhale. Therefore, smoking could effect just you but the people around you too. So, as well as well as putting themselves in danger of lung disease but the people around them as well.
In my mind, it is somewhat unfair because it is not fair if you’re not smoking and you get the consequences then it’s unfair. This leads me on to my next point I think that we should have more designated smoking areas which we already have. But, people are just ignoring them so I think a rule should be put in place where if your found smoking where you are not supposed to then you get fined .That would prevent others who are not at risk to keep being not at risk.
A good chain of reasoning here, well done.

Yes I think we should band smoking but you can't do it by the click of a finger you have to persuade so many people. The hard thing is so many people have got addicted to smoking so therefore it will be hard to stop some people from smoking. It is very sad because the people who are addicted know it is not healthy to smoke but they do it anyway

Yes I think we should band smoking but it'll be really hard because some people try to quit smoking but once people try there addicted. Everyone should persuade people to stop smoking even your family it'll be hard but it's worth a try it can cause lung cancer, don't smoke its really bad for you I don't recommend it.

I think smoking should definitely should be banned because 1 it can affect your lungs and damage your body 2 NHS have to much to deal with like the coronavirus and elderly people not well either. And you can't just click your fingers and they don't smoke anymore you have to persuade them and there is a 50% chance they won't smoke anymore.

why would you want to smoke ? you will die of lung cancer :]

I think, even if smoking is banned, not everyone will follow that rule. Smoking has become a part of many's lives and some are at the point of no return in terms of addiction. Yes, smoking damages your lungs a lot but who'll listen to this new law - almost nobody! I think the real problem is obesity in the NHS; if many less were obese then the NHS would have more money and resources to focus on the proper problems (COVID-19, cancers, diseases ect) and not have to deal with easily preventable issues like obesity. Obesity can cause heart disease and strokes, but if people controlled how much they ate (very easy) the NHS wouldn't need to deal with those issues.

I do personally think it should be banned because as assured power said, it could give you lung cancer if you get addicted to it. If we did try this, I predict that only 35% of the people will stop smoking in the first two weeks. Most people won’t do this because they will have it as a habit like I do playing video games I just get used to doing it every day after school. If people do stop smoking, it will help the NHS not having as many people coming into the hospital telling them they got lung cancer. The only problem with that is they might get a habit of doing something else like drinking. An example of a bad thing that could happen is they could get drunk and then if they’re driving, they will probably crash and end up back at square 1 being back at the NHS.
Hopefully though, that won’t happen. This will really help if we can get no one in the world smoking because then we are also helping the environment be a prettier and a better place to live for animals

I agree but how can they stop? A course on smoking that my dads friend went to helped him out to stop, is that how you were thinking?

I think that they should stop smoking because they are making themselves ill with heart disease, mouth cancer and lots more and the NHS might have to see people who could die any second.
