Is there any approach to predict and create awareness of thunderstorm at community level ?

Annually ,thunderstorm have destroyed housing in many areas of Thailand,particularly during February-May.Warning have been announced from the meteorological department but the people show little concern since they do not know exactly where and when it would happen.Also,preparation and coping plan are not yet clearly found from not only local people but also government sector.Annually,the government of Thailand is forced to pay some amount of money as compensation to affected people for fixing their homes.

It would be ideal if meteorological department can predict the magnitude of near-real time thunderstorm to raise public concern.

my question is '' is there any available approach to understand and predict thunderstorms for the micro community?

    An interesting article! It has got me thinking - are there any building materials which houses and other buildings could be built with so that they are not damaged by thunderstorms?

      Some helpful building materials may include;
      Lightening rods or lightening conductors :these are metallic object mounted on top of an elevated structure bonded using electrical conductor to interfere with the earth using electrodes engineered to protect the structure from lightening produce through thunder storms.
      Air terminals: it is also known as air rods placed at the top of a building to attract lightening and draw it safely to the ground.
      Surges arrestors and protectors: they donot give complete protection in thunderstorms instead they help protect pulged in devices from surges caused by lightening strikes.
      Ground rods: these are attached to down conductors ,inserted in to the ground so that electricity can escape harmlessly to the earth.
      All these can be seen under the storm lightening protection system used in construction of a building .

    Thunder protector is being placed on the rooftop of various buildings in order to prevent thunder from destroying a building. The work of this thunder protector is that it ionizes the air around it thereby breaking it into positive and negative ions, the thunder protector absorbs the negative ions and the positive ions goes further and ionizes again. This process continues and the negative ions is then earthed. This is used to prevent thunder from destroying homes here in Nigeria

    Last year in our school, our trip was to go at the meteorological department of Kenya. We saw some weather instruments like: windvane, windsock, raingauge, anemometer,hydrometer, barometer and thermometer.
    Windvane- wind direction.
    Windsock- strength and direction.
    Anemometer-speed of wind.
    Raingauge- amount of rainfall.
    Barometer- for pressure.
    Hydrometer- humidity.
    Thermometer- temperature.
    Those are the use of the weather instruments below.
