A SPEECH TO THE UN75 GLOBAL CONVERSATION

Extreme Weather Featured Image 7

Hi everyone! I am Funny_Fern. Hmm... What kind of changes can we do to prevent from more extreme weather events? First, let me share one of my experience of extreme weather events.

Actually, I come from Hong Kong, and maybe some of you know, Hong Kong doesn't have a lot of extreme weathers such as wild fire, hurricane, flood ( severe ones ) and so on. The most extreme is Typhoon. At that time, lots of small places near the ocean were strongly acffected as the water got pushed to the ground by the wind, causing a small flood. Some apartments' furniture was destoryed by the powerful and strong wind. This caused a lot of cleaning and money afterwards. Lucky for me, I live in an apartment where the wind wasn't too strong and our houses wasn't damaged afterwards as the wind's direction wasn't as same as the direction of my apartment. Phew!

But we don't want our WHOLE city to be damaged, right? So what can communities do to combat extreme weather? First of all, the governments should have enough suppiles such as food and water to give to the people who has lost their homes. Moreover, governments should build more shades and trees. Nature can help us to defend our cities., that is if we cherrish nature. Or they could start being creative and create some fun recycling designs or remind our citizens to recycle more and litter less. Of course, there are a ton of other ideas to improve extreme weather events. However, what kind of idea do I think that it's benifical to improve extreme weather?

I think that donating money to buiding more protective defences would be a benifical idea. Why? Some parts of the world are very poor. The governments don't have enough money to build more protective defences and they usually do lots of farming just for a liitle food. If a flood washed the farm, then what will they have left to eat? I feel sorry for them. So maybe every part of the world should donate some money for the poor cities to build and grow more stronger. However, don't forget oursevles too! We should also improve our defences. Let's hope in the future, there will be less extreme weather events so that our cities won't be destroyed! ;)

What are your thoughts? Please share them in the comment section below! Also, I would love to hear YOUR idea that you think would be benifical to the world!!

Thanks for posting your Final Piece! i wonder which of these suggestions are short-term, and which are long-term? Can you separate them out and suggest which you think are more important?

Please you said you don't experience more of extreme weather events but what you experience is typhoon. Can you explain the difference between between typhoon and hurricane?
