I am going to give you a brief explanation on deforestation and how you can help. Then I’m going to move on to my own idea and what I’m going to do in the future. Both sides are worth reading for!
Deforestation is a massive cause of climate change. Trees absorb the co2 that is being let into the atmosphere. This should help reduce our carbon emissions but, some decide to chop down the trees. Chopping down the trees means that also the carbon dioxide that was stored up was now let into the atmosphere. Another good thing about trees is that they use the carbon dioxide that they store up to create oxygen for us to breathe. Once we breathe in the oxygen, we breathe out the co2. Then they breathe in that co2 and breathe out oxygen. This works in a cycle. It’s like recycling air!
Now this moves me to my next point: recycling. Their are many people who support deforestation. Deforestation means cutting down trees. They support this because trees gives us wood, paper and other resources that humanity wants. That was the other perk about trees. They can make resources and materials. I understand why they are doing this action, but I think it’s too much. I think they should reduce the amount of trees they are cutting down, we should reuse our materials and paper, and we should recycle them. Reduce, reuse, and recycle!
First of all, we need to reduce our carbon emissions. And to do that we need to reduce the amount of trees being cut down. World consumption of paper has grown 400 percent in the last 40 years. Now nearly 4 billion trees or 35 percent of the total trees cut around the world are used in paper industries on every continent. That equates to about 2.47 million trees cut down every day! The study found that there are around 3.04 trillion trees on Earth, or around 422 for each person on the planet. We can also reduce the amount of paper we use everyday. The number is a huge increase on the previous global estimate, which was just over 400 billion trees worldwide There are 3 trillion trees - but they’re disappearing too fast! That’s my point about reducing.
We need to reuse all the materials we get. Reusing is another way of helping our planet. Together we can make the world better. If we are using paper, we can reuse them by usinfpg scrap paper instead, using the back, or even writing notes down on the back of a cereal box. I know that in my house, whenever a cereal is finished, we will be fighting on who can use it For hardback book covers, walls for a play house, or to use as something flat in the games we play. Reusing paper can also help by using recyclable materials. If you’re out to buy paper, ask for one that has already been recycled so you can reuse them. Or ask for one that is 100% recyclable.
Recycling is one of the easiest and biggest way we can save our planet and the people living in it. In 2011, 66.8 percent of paper consumed in the United States was recycled. Every ton of paper recycled saves more than 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space, and if you measure by weight, more paper is recovered for recycling than plastic, aluminum and glass combined. Americans use 85,000,000 tons of paper a year; about 680 pounds per person. The average household throws away 13,000 separate pieces of paper each year. Most is packaging and junk mail. In 1993, U.S. paper recovery saved more than 90,000,000 cubic yards of landfill space. These are some facts I have read on the internet and I hope you use them to think about how you can help save our planet.
My big, bold and bright lightbulb moment helped me write this final piece. My idea was to start a campaign to stop deforestation. In the future, when I’m a bit older, I am going to go round places getting people to join my campaign and sign my petition I am going to host many fundraising events that gets the word out. I also thought that we should go to a forest that has tree cutters there. Once at the forest, there will be millions of people by my side ready to save the planet. We are going to have 3 people forming a triangle around a tree to stop it from being bulldozed. This was my idea. Maybe one day, in the future, you will see my posters being hanged up and hopefully, you will join.
PLANT A TREE, GROW A FLOWER, GIVE MOTHER EARTH BACK HER POWER!
The name of my campaign is going to be: The trees you burn, shall never return!
Tell me what you think of my idea and if you have any improvements for the name of my campaign. Oh and I hope you like my artwork that I have used in a recent post. It looked really good. Its the Earth before and after climate change.
