Why do people care about covid 19 more than the climate change?

Well; I suppose unless you are living under a rock; you definitely recognise the biggest threat of the 21st century and by that I mean climate change.

Climate change is as we all know; the result of the selfish human race ;and the sour slow revenge of our mother earth for devastating it for over hundreds and hundreds of centuries. Until another contestant appeared and that is the COVID 19 .This virus really came out of nowhere and changed our lives and unfortunately stole lots of souls too!

However this surprising event made people forget about the climate change as if it was non existing ,suddenly the only important subject is this virus and its dangers; all we watch on tv is about it ;all small conversations are involved about it ;every country’s economy is focusing only about this deadly virus but what about climate change ?

As far as I am concerned, I would suppose that people are only focusing on covid19 because in their opinion it kills more people and causes much bigger issue .whereas is that really true?

That is absolutely incorrect; and for that I am going to directly blame the media and it is only their fault for not taking the responsibility of sensitizing us; in fact in 2015 6.5 million people passed away due to air pollution. I am very well aware and conscious that we should never compare lives ;because a life is a life and a soul is above all; however I’ve never heard or seen the media being vocal about it ;never saw clean up campaigns except on 23rd of April because it is Earth day ;I think that earth day should be every day. Those actions that we take for one day should take part in our daily routine. Moreover, not taking huge decisions or adding law enforcement about this topic will push us further to the enemy and will make the chances of survival smaller. Actually it is quite ironic that people think climate change is a long term problem and not that difficult of an issue ;to be clearer ;their mentalities assumes that it is like diabetics :you can eat sugar as much as you want and then an injection of insulin will solve the problem .and as for climate change they think that they can pollute earth as much as they would like to and then some clean up campaign will resort everything !PATHETIC that we are thinking this narrowly and poorly whilst we are running out of time !!! if you think that COVID19 is the worst and nothing is able to cause equal damages

Wait until you will not be able to breathe fresh and clean air anymore

wait until you won’t be able to swim in the sea or sunbathe because the sun ;the shining sweet star that always warms us will become your new enemy and its radiations will steal lives more than any other virus or war did.

In conclusion, COVID 19 is indeed a huge topic to care about .but climate change is also a subject hanging and seeking for human attention; to take actions and WAKE UP before it gets too late!

AND UNTIL THAT DAY COMES (SOON I HOPE) DON’T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR MASK AND USE YOUR CAR ONLY FOR LONG DISTANCES TO AVOID POLLUTING THE AIR.

Because I live in Nigeria, Plateau State and we suffer a lot when it comes to bad air. Due to mines of tin and columbites, so there is a lot of emmision of bad air coming from the mines. Leading to some sickness of different kind and those sickness lead to death. Many have died, but nothing has being done. But when Covid 19 came the government were disturb putting so many rules and so on just to stop the spread of the virus. Even doe much people haven't died of it in the state.

Well in any case, i would say that the covid-19 has caused a lot of damage but i wouldn't say it has caused as much damage as climate change.
You see, while corona affects only mammals and maybe a few fish, the climate change affects not only the mammals and those few fish but also the entire earth itself.
Picture the earth turning into a place like pluto or venus just because the shield that has been protecting us against the ultraviolet rays of the sun(ozone layer) is gone. Just the thought of it alone really sends shivers down my spine.......
I believe that the climate change is an immediate threat to our common society and should be handled which as much seriousness as the covid-19 was.

Well i guess its all due to the fact that everything in life has its time.
Nature isn't something that just occurred overnight, and definitely the reaction made by nature to the harm we humans are causing her will definitely be slow.
I might even want to personify this. Imagine you are a person that is slow to anger and then some one does something to you that isn't acceptable (lets say mistakenly at first).
But then that person continues doing the same thing over and over. As an average human, the normal human response is to start plotting your own vengeance and enacting on it gradually and gradually until you finally pull of your big finale.
I think the same goes for nature.
            What do u think?

And when you live a place where charcoal stoves are producing smoke left, right and centre every evening, it gets really hard to breathe. It wasn't until COVID19 came about, than we had no need to go outside and spread our waste like wildfire. So at the end of the day,I think both topics are important and should be dealt with.

Your words are not correct, and I will give you some evidence to prove the correctness of my words:
      Because of climate change ....
      1. Natural phenomena that threaten the earth, such as droughts, heat waves, floods and hurricanes, have increased
      2. The temperature of the earth has increased significantly and significantly in certain regions of the world, especially after the year 1950, which prompted some to migrate to areas with a favorable climate for them, and this increased the population density, especially in industrial and developed cities.
      3. Melting ice in various parts of the world
      4. The migration of many birds to more cooler areas
      5. The water evaporates greatly due to the high temperature, which leads to increased rainfall and floods
      6. I also want to point out another aspect of the impact of climate change, which is the psychological aspect of the human being. For example, when I hear about climate change, I have increased fears and anxieties about the environmental challenges facing the earth, and sometimes I feel some despair.

Hi warm_meerkat. It sounds like you think Covid19 has more negative consequences than climate change and you believe climate change does not kill people. Is that correct? If so, could you do some more research into this as it's widely accepted that people have died as a result of climate change. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates over 150,000 people die per year as a result of climate change. When researching this, consider the relative durations of Covid19 and climate change and the impact this could have on the total number of deaths.

I suppose the reason why people do not really care about Climate change, is due to lack of knowledge about it.
There has not been enough education on Climate change, its causes and effects to Ghanaians. Only a few educated people in the country know much about it, but, with COVID 19, there has been more education through the radios, internet, websites and our leaders in Ghana. This has made people aware of the need to protect themselves.
Also, unlike COVID 19 which causes people to die rapidly as the days go by, Ghanaians do not see the immediate effect of climate change. Hence, it does not seem to scare them, apart from the few who know the dangers it breeds. And, as it is, the Ghanaian reacts more to mortal threats than other things he has no knowledge about.

    • Many people are not aware of the negative impacts of climatic change in the future. The creation of awareness by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for people to realise the dangers of climatic change is not enough.
    • Many actions that might reduce the treat are controversial because they can impact economics and lifestyle. For instance, the use of chemicals in farming, fishing and even galamsey. These activities release chemicals into the atmosphere, destroying the ozone layer. It is controversial because any measures put in place to stop these activities will adversely affect the economy because people will also not get money to feed their families.
    • The harmful and beneficial impacts of climate change are not spread evenly. Some countries are highly affected while others are least or not affected at all.
    • The problem is a long-term political issue. This is because our political leaders import ‘second hand’ or used goods like refrigerators, computers, television sets and washing machines which can cause the emission of poisonous gases into the environment.
    • The effects will last for a long time or it will take sometime before the impact will be felt. Some scientists have even proposed that, all water bodies may be polluted while others will dry up in some years to come.
    • The problem is global to the whole world because people think everyone is affected.

grateful_journalist is undoubtedly right. It perturbs me that in my country, their aren't any strict laws on waste disposal, something that is actually evident in some other countries even though a few patriots have started to take action. Much as the pandemic was a huge threat, we cannot ignore the damage created on our environment causing climate horror. The same way people were arrested for moving without the mask should have been alike to environmental degradation[ the depletion of air, water, soil.] We need to learn to make the first action instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

Climate change is a serious issue that the government of Ghana was paying serious attention to, but now the Covid-19 pandemic has taken away the seriousness attached to the climate change issue because Covid-19 is a deadly disease which resulted in closure of schools. Due to the closure of schools, students were sent home and this brought about disruption in studies and also had negative impact on the academic calendar. In addition, teachers working in private schools were not paid and this brought about financial hardships on them. For instance, in Ghana here, private teachers were putting pressure on the government and their school's proprietor/proprietresses with regards to their salaries, and this even resulted in a violent demonstration.

Covid19 is an infectious disease that the world is experiencing.
To talk about climate-climate can be explained as the average record of weather condition for a long period of time.
For the past decade, people around the world are experiencing a hard time of the dry season and even the rainy season.
In this hard times, people are not paying more attention to climate change but rather covid-19.Climate for the past decade was not affecting our sports but covid-19 has affected it adversely. We can see that, during the pandemic outbreak, most clubs around the globe were having difficulties on their financial businesses all caused by covid_19. for the past decade, supporters used to go to stadia even during raining and even sunny times. Is this not a good thing about climate As for covid_19 times, there had been closure of stadia.
Again, if the weather changes, schools are not closed down but during this pandemic, schools were closed down and has affected the performance of students. the payment of teachers are now difficult due to covid_19 but in climate times, there were no difficulties on the payment of teachers

in my opinion i feel that people care more about covid-19 than climate change because the adverse effects of climate change do not affect people directly, the effects are more indirect than direct and people tend to focus more on wha is directly in front of them affecting them immediately than what will affect them in the future but if i were to look at it from a more critical point of view i dare say that climate change if allowed to grow unchecked will in have a more drastic effect on the people of the world than even the covid-19 pandemic look at what climate change is projected to do, study has shown that Freshwater availability is projected to decrease in Central, South, East and Southeast Asia by the 2050s; coastal areas will be at risk due to increased flooding; death rate from disease associated with floods and droughts expected to rise in some regions. so I believe that while the world is dealing with the pandemic which is the imminent danger at hand, we also should not ignore the brooding foe........ climate change

The reason why people don't react to climate change the way they do with COVID-19 is because, in Ghana here, some people don't seem to know what climate change can cause but only the few people educated about it know its effects and dangers but COVID-19 is a worldwide pandemic and a lot of people know its effects and has caused them to be alarmed.
Secondly, unlike the pandemic which causes people to die rapidly, people don't seem to know the effects of climate change, so Ghanaians do not know why they have to be scared of it, only those educated about it know the dangers it brings.

Covid-19 is a disease(virus) that has higher mortality rate as compared to climate change which has lower mortality rate. Though climate change brings global warming and changes in rainfall pattern.
Also, covid-19's symptoms are scary so people made sure they do everything possible(keeping the covid-19 protocol) to keep themselves safe from the virus.
For climate change , it is not scary and people thinks it is natural .

Climate change is one of the most prevalent and threatening issues of our time, but it has not received attention like covid 19, where climate changes affect the health of the surrounding environment, as it is likely that the frequency of natural disasters such as droughts, floods, etc. will increase, which may threaten human safety and health, directly and indirectly. A number of international bodies have indicated that climate change has potential health impacts on humans, including the spread of vector-borne diseases, and a number of infectious diseases And diseases transmitted through ingestion of contaminated water or food, and may affect the health of people suffering from chronic diseases such as heart patients and asthma, for example, and worsen their health status

Covid -19 is an infectious disease that the world is still experiencing. To talk about climate-Climate can be explained as the average record of weather over a long period of time. For the past decade, people around the globe are experiencing a hard time of the dry season and even the raining season.
Basically, people are not paying attention to climate change butt rather covid-19. Climate for the past years was not affecting our sports but now covid-19 seriously has done. We can see that, during this pandemic outbreak, most clubs around the globe are having difficulties with their finances.
Again, if the climate changes, schools are not closed down but during this pandemic, schools were closed down and has affected good performance of students .The payment of teachers are now difficult due to covid-19 pandemic but in climate changes, there are no difficulties on the payment of teachers.
Again, covid-19 has reduce the population of Asia, Africa, South America, North America, Europe and even Australian continents. During climate changes, the population of the world was higher than that of covid-19 period.
During climate change people feels it does not reduce population. covid-19 has affect production, close of schools, close down of stadia, industries collapse and many more. All this are companied to destroying our wonderful world.
    THANK YOU

Hello, skillful_heart from tunisia here. In my opinion, people sadly lack awareness about the dangers of climate change. The media doesn't cover this issue as much as it does to covid 19.Hearing the news talking about how dangerous covid is made people scared, which led them to care more about it. An other reason for this is how immediate the effects of covid are. Climate change has long-term effects that take time to show, unlike covid 19 whose effects directly affects our real life. This causes people to procastinate on solving the issue. No one thinks of it as his responsability to take care of climate change, they see it as the future generations problem because it wouldn't affect them. Also a lot of people believe in the so-called "conspiracy theories" that actively deny believing in climate change and global warming. Those theories are very popular among the older generations who get their informations from untrusted sources and social media forums who share fake news. The lack of critical thinking and education on the topic made those made-up stories popular.I think the best way to avoid this is by spreading awareness about climate change.

As we all know, sporting activities such as football, netball, volleyball were been into practice all over Ghana because it helped us to be strong, fit and firm. In almost every school in Ghana we use to do sporting activities every year to refresh our minds and body for the new year until this pandemic came into our lives, sporting activities in schools has been banned till date and climate change has not been causing this kind of problem though it has changed our rainfall pattern but sporting activities was ongoing without any problems. In Ghana people are not reacting to climate change because they do not know much about it . Moreover, the government and the city authorities have not take the trouble to create the awareness .
Because covid_19 can kill, the government made stiffer rules to check the spread of the virus by introducing partial lockdown in Accra and Kumasi in Ghana.

In Ghana, people are not reacting to climate change because, climate change does not directly affect people like how covid_19 has done.
Covid-19 is a deadly disease which affect people easily and also spreads faster than climate change. Covid-19 is a dangerous disease because,it kills almost 1000 people a day in Ghana, but climate change does not. See, schools were closed down for almost one(1) year because of the virus.
Again,in Ghana, the government forced the citizens to wear nose masks, face shield, and sanitize their hands. But when climate change occurs, there are no enforcement of rules from the government.

In my opinion, the following are some of the reasons why most people are tackling covid 19 better than climate change.
Because people lost their jobs as a result
    of covid 19 and some
factories stopped working to prevent the
spread of covid 19 so all the workers were ask to go home.
But if Climate change occurs there is no way people will lose their, jobs as they see it as a disaster that needs help.
Again due to covid 19 pandemic, the prices of food stuffs increased in my country during the lock down. Those in farming areas were not able to produce the enough to meet their demands.

We are living in a moment when two major global threat,a world wide pandemic and the climate crisis have suddenly converged.
In a matter of month Covid-19 has taken the world by storm, compelling countries to lock down;forcing the concellation of events, travel, and gathering of every stripe;pushing the world economy to the brink of recession. The current pandemic some scientists Warn, and many of us fear,is a glimpse of a dystopian future with more of the same.
climate change is a different beast. Its relatively slow moving. Its might happen occassionally or happen once in a while.
    Note this:
    * Covid-19 can spread speedly to an unaffect person while climate change happens slowly.
*Covid-19 result in increase daily while climate change happens occasionally.
*Virus damages or distroy the humam cells While climate change doesn't.
Why Wouldn't we care more about Covid-19 more than the climate changes.

Many care about covid 19 compared to how they do so with climate change because covid 19 has caused a lot of damage within a very short space of time...Another reason to why people care so much about covid 19 is because that data on the lives lost due to covid 19 is presented on social media on a daily basis as a result, people tend to shift their focus to that which is trending on the media. Also, it is because most governments have put their maximum on covid 19 forgetting about that(climate change)
which has been of existence way before the covid 19 era.

You seem to have deduced this from your observation, not from the research
I contradict your words with all respect
Everyone thinks that he cannot live with the Corona virus because it is fast spreading and fought against climate change, but this is not true
Nearly 7 million people die annually due to climate change, according to the World Health Organization
But we do not notice this because the media did not care about climate change and its victims as they did with the Corona virus
When the Corona virus came, the media made it a global crisis. An urgent solution must be found to it, unlike climate change that has extended for many years, which is often not mentioned except on World Earth Day, corresponding to April 22.

Climate change affect our whether and our rain patterns which is due to how the sun shines or the rain falls in a place. We then experience sunny days or rainy days which affect our crops. To import food stuffs from other countries will be our outcome. It affects our lives, by giving sleeplessness nights because of the weather. We suffer but life moves on. Covid 19 takes lives seriously and faster than climate change. It affects our immune system but climate change causes a few discomfort in our lives. It is a very deadly disease and it has killed many people here in my country Ghana. Some even find it difficult to wear the face mask because they are with respiratory diseases like asthma but the positive side of covid_19 is that during the lock down in my country Ghana most of the workers were able to rest at home. The government are focused on covid_19 more than climate change because it has taken more lives than climate change. I think the need is the source of having an action. I mean if I need to eat I will do my best to get food. So, when I think about why we have weak speed of actions toward climate change , I find the reason is no safty life where wars , no protection , poverty and caring about fashion and making films without focusing on the nature but the most concerning is on following actors and youtubers. I believe if the famous and wellknown people make action toward the climate change will make change and the results will be positive .

Climate change refers to the average weather condition for a long period of time. This is a very serious issue that the government of Ghana was paying much attention to,but now the Covid-19 pandemic has taken away the seriousness attached to climate change issue because Covid-19 is a deadly disease which has resulted in loss of jobs.Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many people had lost their jobs because when the pandemic came, there was a need to observe social distancing in workplaces,so many workers were sent home. This brought about financial hardships on them. This is why most people aren't reacting to climate change with the same urgency as Covid-19,because climate change has not caused all this problems as that of Covid-19 had caused.

In my opinion people try seriously to Care about covid 19 more than climate change because the connection with climate change is less clear cut .there is one thing,Corona virus, that almost all health shocks have in common they hit the poorest and the most vulnerable the hardest.they are forcing familles into exterm poverty because they have to pay for health care.According to my opinion, we have to resort to stopping all sources that pollute the air and disturb our epidemic situation. It is advisable to compensate for it with solar energy and other solutions, and this is not in the interest of businessmen and the wealthy who head factories and companies .This explains how quickly we react to covid-19 and how little we care about climate change.

    Hello, it's ethical_argument
I believe the reason why people tend to care and give more attention to coronavirus instead of climate change is because of the rate and intensity of occurrence. Another reason why people give more attention to coronavirus than to climate change is that they have sufficient knowledge about the causes and effects on lives than climate change.
What is climate change? According to the oxford learners’ dictionary, climate change can be defined as changes in the earth's weather, including changes in temperature, wind patterns, and rainfall, especially the increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere that is caused by the increase of particular gases, especially carbon dioxide. Although the rate at which climate change occurs is approximately 0.15°F per decade, it is considered as a slow rate compared to the rate at which the coronavirus spreads and takes lives. As of now, the rate of deaths per year due to climate change is still unknown but they believe between 2030 – 2050 the rate will be 250000 death of persons per year which once again, compared to the deaths caused by corona that can’t be taken very seriously for now as the coronavirus has already ravaged over 3000000 people within the span of significantly less than two years. Any scientist, doctor, healthcare worker, civil leader, a citizen will fear a disease like that over the former.
Due to the rate at which coronavirus killed people in the previous year, scientists were forced to quickly look for a cure for it which is another reason why people perhaps feel like we care more about the virus rather than climate change and that is very understandable. A lot of campaigns and advertisements were done during the course of the rapid spread of the coronavirus which gave people sufficient knowledge about it, I believe the number of campaigns and advertisements done during that period could be more than the amount done for climate change within the last ten years which I believe is very wrong of us. Climate change is different from coronavirus, when it officially starts, the possibility of it stopping will be very low. We should start making efforts to stop it from happening and if it seems inevitable we should look for methods to sufficiently reduce the rate at which it’s going to occur. Thank you.

To share my opinion about this matter, I think COVID-19 is being urgent to people than climate change because public education were not being done towards climate change. We learn climate in schools only, the media does not often give us ideas about the climate change, therefore, they don't see or know the importance of climate changing or being as it is. But public education is being done everywhere towards COVID-19 because, people know and believe that COVID-19 is a deadly disease. They are supplying the things needed to avoid the spread of COVID-19 up till date.
To conclude, I think concentrating on COVID-19 is being done properly, but I think the government should encourage the media to talk or educate more on climate change and it's effect so that people may know the importance of building back greener because, Ghana my country is blessed with vegetation.

People are not reacting to climate change because most of them do not now much about it. For example,in my country Ghana, people took galamsey (small scale mining)as their job and was destroying our greeny environment.
Even though the government put in place taskforce to fight them but they kept destroying the environment despite the taskforce.
As soon as covid_19 hit the country, the workers of the galamsey voluntarily opted out of the businesses. Now l realized that what taskforce failed to do, covid_19 has done it so easily.

To most people, climate change is not a deadly issue as compare to COVID_19.They react to Covid_19 due to some following reasons. To begin with, Covid _19 is a deadly disease that can be transmitted from one person to another. It also kills rapidly. The symptoms of Covid_19 are awful.
Covid_19 patients finds it very difficult to breathe. Even though ,
climate change causes global warming but does not kill people in my country. Because of this, people react to Covid_19 urgently than climate change.
Also, covid_19 has brought lockdown whereby .
many factories were forced to stop running. This made many peoples loss their jobs which affected their finances. Climate change can cause change in rainfall pattern but cannot bring financial problems to most people.
It is so sad to note that in my country, people don't know much about climate change so they don't urgently react it that of covid_19 which they that it could kill them.

Most people are not taking climate change serious as COVID_19 because of the following reasons. Firstly, the emergence of COVID_19 has led to shortage of goods and commodities. This is because the crops that are used in the production of food are less in many farms, so as time goes on they increase the prices of goods and commodities. But climate change also affect our crops but i think we sold go back and build back greeener because the change in climate didn't increase our food prices but changed our climate so we should focus on the bringing back our green environment

If the government,t give money to businesses that are environmentally friendly , that are not bad for the climate . I hope it all support in green nature. That support will serve as a motivation to other companies whose activities are not destroying the environment. I think people will stop buying from companies that are destroying the climate. In fact cocoa board in Ghana give bonus to their staff yearly for promoting cocoa production in the country. On the .contrary , illegal small scale miner are punished severely.

I think that people are more worried about COVID-19 because it happened so suddenly and no one knew what to do about it. I guess in some people's minds, climate change is "ongoing", so they won't do anything until it gets so bad that they just have to do something.
I've been in a conversation before where an older generation person said that they feel guilty because their generation started all of this, and know our generation has to fix it. That's exactly what's got to happen. Just because the older generations started this a long time ago when car and planes were invented, we have to take responsibility for it.
COVID-19 is devastating people all over the world, but climate change probably has the same - if not, a worse - effect on the human race, but no one notices, because it has happened over such a long period of time that it didn't seem an issue, until now. Of course, Coronavirus is a major issue, but hasn't it stopped us using cars as much? No planes in the air, no one allowed to travel on trains, we started walking more. In a way, it helped us realise what a terrible impact we as people have on our environment. But, people still care more about COVID-19 because it is frightening them, making them put rules in place quickly, and what they don't realise is that they are promoting one use masks, which end up in landfill, once again damaging our environment.
So, COVID helped us think more about our amazing but vulnerable planet, and how it needs our help.

I have realized that help in nature is most suitable for my country because when put trees, it will help my country in fighting the climate change better.
In my school students are asked to plant trees on the compound. It is the duty of the students to water the plants regularly to prevent the plants from dying. This has help to make green and comfortable. Now the dusty environment is becoming green. The problem is that animal attack some of the plants when school is not in session.

I think that it depends on how you look at it. I think that right now, Covid-19 poses the biggest threat to the population however, long term I think that climate change poses the biggest threat. As of right now, the WHO states that climate changes are already estimated to cause 150,000 deaths annually and that will only increase overtime if we do not act now. But, Covid-19 has caused over 3 million deaths worldwide, so obviously it looks like the biggest threat at the moment, however due to a decrease in cases and deaths this number will soon level out. While this number starts to decrease the climate changes number will only increase until it eventually gets to a point where we cannot handle or stop it. I also think that people generally care more about Covid-19 because it will affect them more, they can't see family or friends, can't go to work, can't go to the pub/restaurants, have to wear masks, can't go shopping etc. Whereas climate change has a less noticeable immediate effect. Infectious diseases are immediate and personal, there is a huge amount of fear surrounding Covid-19, when people act on fear they often don't know why or what they are doing, they just do it. However, when it comes to something like climate change, people aren't educated on it and because there is no immediate effect, they are less inclined to do something, therefore becoming lower on the priority list.

At the beginning I did think you where talking about covid-19 which proves your point. I never did think of it like this before but now I do I agree with you. I think climate change is more important now even though covid-19 kills a lot of people. But climate change can change a lot of other stuff like how clean are water is or how clean are air is. If people don't dump waste I think we can make this world climate change free once again!

People are worrying more about covid-19 more because it's affecting millions of people and unfortunately leads to deaths all around the world and it keeps spreading everyday. Since covid-19 has got a bit better these last few months people might start caring more about climate change.

I agree with you, especially if there are people who care about it, they will take care of it on the level of their homeland, and they will neglect it if it is not related to their country ..

And even some of them will start spreading exaggerated information or start spreading unfounded rumors, for example:
    Delhi (India); Where
"1.5 million people die every year from air pollution due to chronic respiratory disease and asthma. In Delhi, poor quality air causes irreversible damage to the lungs of 2.2 million, or 50% of all children."
In fact, this is true, but the information is outdated, as this was present in 2019; The environment has improved slightly in Delhi; For this reason, I see that the media play an important role in this crisis ..

Athough Covid-19 only begun in late 2019, there have already been many national lockdowns which the majority of people have responded to well and have followed the guidelines placed by the government. In my opinion, people were so quick to react to the pandemic becuase there was an immediate threat to life and the virus caused many deaths. However, when it comes to climate change, which is arguably a bigger threat to life than Coronavirus, people are much slower to react. I think that this is because the consequences of global warming are less visual and many people have the attitude that it won't affect them in their lifetime so they won't do anything to prevent it. I believe that, as shown with the pandemic, people need to be forced into action for change to happen and that people need to be educated properly on the damaging effects of global warming.

I think people care more about covid-19 than climate change because it has such a profound impact on everyone’s lives . Climate change is a rising global issue across the globe and affects many countries and animal life. Instances where natural landforms such as glaciers are sinking ,sea creatures are dying and coral reefs are being destroyed on a large scale. This by itself is worth caring for and global warming can be gone if we work together slowly each year and implement more 'green' practices over a period of time. Covid 19 on the other hand is affecting lives left right and centre, leaving people jobless, people dying on a large scale , causing economic collapse and now government officials are required to implement new rules to save all of our lives. There could also be a case where global warming affects all of us very soon if we don't help to stop it ,however that is something that we can overlook and work on steadily whereas covid 19 needs rapid collaboration and adherence to new rules to end it.

I know we all have different opinions about if we are more worried about covid19 or climate change better and to be honest,i support both -obviously- because they are both important

Very good point. I feel that more people care about covid 19 because it is something that has affected the whole world. We know climate change affects everyone but because some areas are worse than others, some people believe that climate change does not affect them therefore they don't feel the need to change anything about their lifestyles.

They care more about the virus because it's causing lots of deaths across the whole world. Climate change is something that in the future can affect everyone but some people don't see it that way.

I feel that people care more about covid-19 than they do about climate change because covid-19 has taken over the world! It is in every newspaper and on every news channel! People have lost their lives, their homes and jobs and unfortunately even though climate change is an issue some people don't see it as an issue because they are not affected by it. It all depends on where you live.

In my opinion, I care more about covid 19 than climate change because covid 19 is something that has affected me. It has affected me because I was not able to go to School, socialise with my friends, see my grandparents and very rarely saw my mum as she is a nurse and was working on the ICU ward. For me, climate change does not have a big impact, therefore that is why I care more about covid than climate change.

People care about the virus more because its more deadly and a lot of people have died of it. I agree that climate change causes unnecessary deaths as well but I think due to media coverage it is not in the spotlight so it is not in people's minds.

I personally think that people are focussing on Covid 19 more because it has created a more noticeable impact on peoples lives such as, the economic issues and the overall changes in lifestyles for everyone. This doesn't mean Global warming should be overlooked, as it will get worse to the point it will have more visible impacts and that's when more people will start to notice and care, but Covid is having more of an impactful effect on people which is why global warming is being overlooked. Although they are both very important topics Covid has taken lives and has changed something for everyone, which is why its a bigger focus for people.

People care more about covid-19 more that climate change because Covid is a newer problem that we are facing. We have been battling climate change for a few years now, so when Covid came a long we completely forgot about global warming. We were more caught up with the newest problem and completely forgot about the problem that we were already facing.

Thanks so much for this amazing post!
Just quickly, you said that COVID-19 came out of nowhere, but humans actually started it. There are two different rumours of how the virus started, one being that China ate some poorly stored meat that they shouldn’t really be eating anyway, and the other being that because we are chopping down too many trees (a.k.a. deforestation), so forcing animals to come to humans. This means that because animals are coming closer to where we live, we are picking up their viruses. These are just two rumours from scientists.
I believe that for now, coronavirus does kill more people daily. I know there are lots of fires in Australia because of climate change, but it doesn’t effect places like England too much. However, this is just for now. Climate change will get worse, and when it does it will effect every country on the planet. It will kill everyone if we don’t act fast enough, so climate change is definitely a bigger problem.
Also, you said that 6.5 million people died in 2015 because of air pollution, and that is absolutely crazy! I cannot believe that climate change is having such a big effect on people already. This is just more proof that if we don’t act to stop climate change right now, it will be too late.
I was already scared of climate change, and your post has made the fear even worse! Not saying that is a bad thing though; the fear of climate change will only make everyone stop and think: “Hang on a second, maybe we do need to sort out climate change.” If only I was a little older, then I would be able to become a conservationist and help our planet even more than I can as a child.

    Thanks for reading my comment!

There has been a lot of debates running through many countries about COVID-19 and Climate change. These are few education on COVID-19 and Climate change and why people are reacting to COVID-19 more than climate change.

Climate change is a long term process that affects humans directly or indirectly. The global warming is an example of climate change. It has made humans feel uncomfortable due to the rising of temperature has led to the melting of iceberg, this also leads to floods which carry away people's properties and also make others homeless. Burning fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal, releasing excess amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and increase in population has been the major cause of the activities that release the carbon compounds into the atmosphere such as burning, respiration and decomposition. Climate change has changed the rainfall pattern and has also affected our agricultural produce. Some effects of climate change is bird flu, tuberculosis, plague and due to high carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the ozone layer has depleted.

COVID-19 is a deadly disease which is popularly known in many countries.

According to research, the name COVID means Corona Virus Disease. Some common signs of infection include fever, coughing and difficulty in breathing. It takes between 1-14 days for an infected person to show symptoms. Others also don't show any sign. People may ask, how does the virus spread?. The virus spreads from human-human contact, by touching bodies and objects that contains the virus. Because the virus was so dangerous, a lot of countries had to go for lockdown, even in Ghana. Some effects are social gatherings were banned, schools, churches and works were closed.

For my opinion, reasons why most people react on COVID-19 more than climate is that, there has been an education on COVID-19 more than climate change, COVID-19 spreads faster than climate change and COVID-19 is a rapid disease but climate change is a long term process.

On the other hand, COVID-19 has deadly effects more than the effects of climate change.

And for this reason, much attention is given to COVID-19 more than that of climate change.
