Why aren't most people reacting to climate change with the same urgency as covid-19?

In the last decades and starting from the Industrial Revolution, people caused a lot of damage to the earth as they didn't notice it. Then, when Covid 19 hit, they were obliged to stay at home and didn't work so couldn't cause more damage . Consequently, some of the mountain peaks appeared after decades , the Ozone holes became smaller and some animals lived their best without human presence . No one can deny that humans have their share of responsibility as well for not keeping their environment clean and not providing their homes with renewable energy . All of us are now aware of the chaos we were all part of and we are also aware that we can make our environment greener and cleaner by throwing our garbage in trash cans ,recycling it and stopping the emission of harmful gases . As far as I am concerned , I come from Tunisia and I personally don't see any noticeable efforts to help fight climate change. Except from small business owners and companies that are making a move but the governments and policy-makers aren't assuming their responsibilities towards the environment .

I agree with you, limited agreement, if we think about it, we will remember that the cause of this epidemic is the bats that carried this epidemic for reasons. I agree with you that humans have a role in some of these disasters, but he is trying hard to find a solution to them and fix what has been destroyed, but you know, things are not always what we want them to be, and there are other people who do not have the power because they simply lack what is necessary, in the end I would like to say that every person on the earth deserves to live human beings, animals, plants and all living things, and that we are on this earth to fix it if it is corrupted or corrupted by someone.

Most people are reacting to climate change with the same urgency as covid-19 because some people are not educated about what climate change can cause to the world. I come from Ghana and we are also facing the release of harmful gases into the atmosphere. Some of the citizens in my country don't know the effects of climate change and because covid-19 came to the world it has also make us drive our attention from climate change. Also presidents or leaders of a country has also driven their attention from climate change and are now focusing just on covid-19. This is also why most people are not reacting to the same urgency as covid-19. Also most are not reacting to climate change because they think covid-19 is now the important issue every country is facing, forgetting that climate change can also cause global warming which will lead to the rise of the world's normal temperature.

It amuses me whenever i see humans react to immediate danger that can be averted easily, than find solutions to a much more potent danger which kills them unawares.
I personally believe that its only because of some level of ignorance on the side of we humans to the dangers we caused for ourselves when we started depleting the ozone layer. But i believe that just like the coronavirus, if a situation should occur where humans are forced to come up with a quick solution to fix the global problem of climate change, things might just work out great in the end.

Covid-19 takes life's within the shortest possible time and death is rapid or quick but for climate change, it is more unless unrecognised or invisible. The world sees covid-19 as a pandemic and needed to be taking care of ourselves quickly but for climate change they know is a problem that needed to be dealt with but it's effect is gradual. It is a global emergency that has already killed on a mass scale and threatens to send millions more to early graves. As it's effect spread , it could destabilise entire economies and overwhelm poorer countries lacking resource and infrastructure. But this is the climate crisis, not the coronavirus.Government are not assembling emergency national plans and we're not getting push notifications transmitted to our phone breathlessly alerting you to dramatic twists developments from our communities. More than 3,000 people have succumbed to coronavirus yet, according to the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO)

People have not been reactive to climate change with the same urgency as covid 19 because climate change have not been announced or recognized as a global pandemic, secondly it donot kill as fast as covid 19, thirdly it is not contagious.

Climate change affects our weather and sometimes our rain patterns which is due to how the sun shines a place or the rain falls in a place. We then experience sunny days or intense rainy days which affects our crops. So we would have to import food stuffs from other countries. It affects our lives someway , by giving sleeplessness nights because of the weather or making us feel cold. We suffer but life goes on. Thought s of climate change lives Corona virus seems to take lives faster it's more serious.
It affects our immune system as compared to climate change which causes a few discomforts in our lives. Covid_19 is a bigger deal because it affects our health and causes rapid death

Scientific evidence shows the main influences of climate change are behavioral - population growth and energy consumption. We must look at the reasons people are not acting as a matter of urgency to climate change. Despite warnings from scientists and environmental experts that limiting the effects of climate change means humans need to make some severe changes now, people don't feel a sense of urgency.
First of all, uncertainty over climate change reduces the frequency of "green" behavior. The green house effect is not taken into consideration as people tend to be not so sure about future occurrences as compared with covid 19 that if not attend to, could be a tremendous pandemic that could wipe out the entire human race.
Again, most people mistrust and don't believe the risk messages of scientists or government officials. It was evident to see how quick people responded to the deadly covid 19. Fear gripped them. It isn't in the case of climate change.
Moreover, many had denied that global warming is occurring. People believe climate change is not occurring or that human activity has little or nothing to do with it.
Lack of control is another factor leading to people ignoring global warming as an urgency. People believe their actions would be too small to make a difference and choose to do nothing, unlike the covid 19 that put people on their toes to observe all protocols to curb the pandemic.
Last but not least, habits of people turn to make global warming less urgent. Ingrained behaviours are extremely resistant to permanent change while others change slowly. Habit is the most important obstacle to pro-environmental behavior.
When it comes to acting on problems, the lure of our current comforts and conveniences will often cause us to act contrary to our values. If we think the consequences are far in the future, we tend to discount the risk. People just aren't going to inconvenience themselves unless they are forced to.

    1. Many people are not aware of the negative impacts of climatic change in the future. The creation of awareness by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for people to realise the dangers of climatic change is not enough.
    2. Many actions that might reduce the treat are controversial because they can impact economics and lifestyle. For instance, the use of chemicals in farming, fishing and even galamsey. These activities release chemicals into the atmosphere, destroying the ozone layer. It is controversial because any measures put in place to stop these activities will adversely affect the economy because people will also not get money to feed their families.
    3. The harmful and beneficial impacts of climate change are not spread evenly. Some countries are highly affected while others are least or not affected at all.
    4. The problem is a long-term political issue. This is because our political leaders import ‘second hand’ or used goods like refrigerators, computers, television sets and washing machines which can cause the emission of poisonous gases into the environment.
    5. The effects will last for a long time or it will take sometime before the impact will be felt. Some scientists have even proposed that, all water bodies may be polluted while others will dry up in some years to come.
    6. The problem is global to the whole world because people think everyone is affected.

I think people are not reacting to climate change because it doesn't kill people as much as covid-19. In my area where I live people don't react to climate change. What they do is that, they burn things anyhow, and they don't know the effect on the ozone layer. climate change deals with weather, but Covid-19 is a disease. The government made awareness of Covid-19 than climate change.

The reason is that, pollution mostly affects plantations and things in the environment and less affects human beings but corona was affecting human race and causing lots of deaths which drew attention and human effort. This happened because various news were mostly about corona virus which was making people forget what pollution was causing in our environment

I think people are not reacting to climate change because in Ghana most citizens are not adhearing to the covid-19 protocols . All these increasing the number of people getting the virus day by day and the government is putting in much effort control all these . These things make the rate of reacting to covid-19 higher than reacting to climate change.

Pertaning to the question asked, urgency and priority has been given to covid 19 than climate change in the following way
1.Climate change and it's issues has been in the system for so many years but we have not seen any severe fear and panic it has caused but covid 19 unexpectedly came in 2019 but has swept many lives away and it is still causing harm.
2.The effect of climate change is not physically seen as in the cause of covid 19.
3.There are so many experts telling us more on deadly virus than experts in climate change.
4.Covid 19 to has killed many people than climate change did.

The world lost interest in environmental issues after the current pandemic . So, we see that people did not react to environmental pollution as they reacted to the Corona pandemic, and this is due to the fear of perdition which threatens their desire for immortality, so when we say deadly disease, everybody adheres to the rules and cares. Nobody want to lose his life. Because many think that Corona virus has a direct impact on human beings Unlike environmental pollution that affects only the environment . Which is wrong because that polluted place is the one in which we are going to live , which means the risk of suffering from skin and chronic diseases ,yet the ability of suffering from famine on account of the death of plants due to the climate deterioration and thus the death of animals. Then, we must pay more attention to the issue of the environment, as it may cause enormous flora and fauna and even human losses .🌲🌄

A global crisis has shocked the world it is causing tragic number of death making people afraid to leave home and leading to ecconomic hardship not seen in many generation ,it's effect are rippling across the world .
Obviously , I'm talking about COVID_19 but in just in just a few decades , the same description will fit another global crisis : climate change could be worse .
I realized that it's hard to think about a problem like climate change right now . When disaster strikes , it's human nature to worry only about meeting our most immediate needs , especially  when the disaster is as bad as COVID_19 .
If you want to understand the kind of damage that climate change will inflict look at COVID_19 and spead the pain out over a much longer period of time .
the loss of life and economic misery caused by this pandemic are not par with what will happen regulary if we do not eliminate the world's carbon emissions let's look first at the loss of lifeThe key point is not that climate change will be disastrous the key point it that if will learn the lesson of Covid-19 . we can approach climate change more informed about the consequences of inaction and more prepared to save lives and prevent the worst possible outcome .the curent global crisis can inform our response to the next one

We don't have direct evidence that climate change is influencing the spread of Covid-19, but we do know that climate change alters how we relate with other species on earth and that matters to our health and our risk for infection. As its effects spread, it could destabilise entire economies and overwhelm poorer countries lacking infrastructure, but this is the climate crisis, not the covid-19. Government are not assembling emergency national plans and you are not getting push notifications, transmitted to your phone breathlessly, alerting you to dramatic twist. The government made awareness for covid-19, sending you SMS everyday, telling you to take precautions, but they didn't do that for climate change. How are about you, did your government do the same???

I suppose the reason why many Ghanaians don't care about climate change is the haste to get rid of COVID-19. Due to the restrictions COVID-19 has introduced, including the uncomfortable yet mandatory wearing of nose masks, life has become different and this has made many people feel that it is better to get rid of COVID-19 before approaching any other problem. This has made climate change the last thing on many people's minds.

I think that if people ignore climate change then it doesn't exist whereas COVID is everywhere around us all of the time and we see its effects in everyday life. Also ways that some countries can become wealthy have negative impacts on the climate so some may find it necessary for them to flourish. Covid has no positives in any way and is impacting everyone and everything negatively so why shouldn't we stop it with a greater urgency.
