Welcome to this week's cluster conversation! Not sure what cluster your school is in? Check here.

How could where someone lives affect their opinion about “building back greener”?

Top tips:

  • To help, you should think about the answers to these questions: can you see the effects of climate change where you live? How?
  • We want to hear about your experience where you live. The best comments will answer the question and explain why your experiences have led to your opinion.
  • A cluster conversation is small group of 30 schools that you will get to know really well. Try to reply to other people, ask questions about their answers and learn more about what life is like where they live.
  • A new cluster conversation question will be posted every Monday.
  • You can use this to help start your answer, "People's opinion about "building back greener" could be affected by where they live because... Where I live..."

It could affect their opinion because where they live might have lots of pollution and think it is alright because they have cars that run on gas but it is not very good because they are polluting the air with bad fumes that could kill some of the animals that live near to the place that they do but on the other hand if there was someone who lived on

It could affect them because of there was someone who lived in a place with lots of fumes and cars which run on gas then they might think it is alright because they are just happy that they have a car and a big city to live in but if there was someone who lived in a place with solar powered houses and cars that run on apple juice then they would think that they are keeping the place they live safe (which they are) but if the person who lived in the green and safe part of the earth moved to the polluted part they would think that they are not doing a very good job of keeping the environment save (which they aren't).

I think the people living in big cities needs to be given education on the effects of the things they use. Education on building back greener has to be given to them as quickly as possible. We don't have to wait until it's too late.

I agree, some people think that as long as things are working out for them they are fine. The Earth needs attention too!

It's true that pepple's opinions on building back greener can be affected by where one is residing.
People tend to choose the ways of building back greener in accordance to their economic level.
Forexample People in Tanzania can't stop the use of fuels like petrol and diesel in vehicle, these fuels produce smoke and cause pollution but they can plant trees as their way of building back greener and they can also stop cutting down trees.

I do pray that the time comes when people see these effects and start to make amends. Yes we are economically poor, but we can find ways to reduce the effects of climate change.

People who live in cities might feel that they really need to build back greener as they will have noticed the air is darker with pollution and nearly every park, field, street or road has rubbish blown across. This has a negative impact on both the environment and the people. Although some people may not be able to or are not comfortable with changing to suit the environment, they can do simple stuff like gardening or raising awareness about climate change.

People who live closer to the country, such as farmers, might not feel the need to really build back greener simply because they are already in a "green" place. Their air is cleaner than in most places and there is less litter.

Your views on building back greener depend on how green your locality already is. People living polluted areas should see this as an important subject while people in clearer environments find this subject has little importance.

Can you see an argument for where farmers might be very aware of climate change and then need to build back greener?

If air pollution from the city travelled to the country, it would be bad for the farmers as it could destroy their crops. If the wind carried lots of garbage from other areas, it could harm any animals and make the farms or fields less cleaner places to live in.

Yes farmers might be living in green lands because of their products but in developing countries like Tanzania farmers do their activities for a season and in other seasons the land is not green. They also cook using firewood and charcoal. This means they are cutting down trees.

Many people ,who lives in cities feel like that we need to build back greener they have noticed that the air is pitch black. Despite this, rubbish are being thrown on the ground ,but also the wind has blew rubbish around the environment. This has a negative impact on our Mother Earth. In fact, whoever lives near country like farmer may think that we don't need to build back greener.

I think the people in the cities need education. The governments should find ways to educate them on the effects of what they are doing.

It's true that people's opinion is affected by where they are and their economy. For example in Tanzania people will surely be able to participate in making the environment clean as well as planting trees in different parts of their areas. They can also educate others on these ways.

But I believe in other parts of the world people would do things differently like stopping the use of vehicles and having green friendly industries.

In my country Tanzania people's opinions affect the building back greener process.
For example, some people think that global warming doesn't affect their lives, so there is no need to build back greener like before. But this idea is wrong because global warming can cause many problems in our lives. These problems includes drought, this is because when there is large amount of heat it might lead to drying of trees.
Also global warming causes disappearance of some species like fish because fish feeds and lives in water. So if there is no water species can die and others can run towards places with water.

I agree that where a person lives may affect their opinion of building back greener.
In places like Tanzania people think that building back greener is not important for now. The important thing for now is to feed their families and continue with their activities. They don't understand that when we build back greener means we are avoiding various negative environmental effects and we can all continue living our normal lives.
Also in other countries where there are many industries people don't see the effects brought by the industries such as air pollution which might lead to global warming.
Global warming leads to destruction of ozone layer, and when the ozone layer is destroyed might cause sunrays to come directly to the earth's surface and hence causing high temperature. Thus I think that we should build back greener so as to avoid global warming and its effects.

In some societies people are not aware on building back greener because they think that climate change doesn't affect their lives.
But in real sense climate change might cause a lot of negative effects in the coming days. So we need to start building back greener so that we all might be alive in the future.

Opinions of people can be affected because of where they are living.
Others may get more challenges because they lack education on building back greener. Some people think that climate change doesn't affect their lives so there's no need to build back greener. So people are not ready to build back greener.

But I think they should be given education on the effects of climate change.
For those who think getting a job is more important as it helps them to feed their families. Like the ones who live by selling charcoal which affects the environment through deforestation.

Good point, people might not know enough about climate change to feel concerned about it. Getting a job is important, but having better surroundings matter just as much. People who understand climate change should pass on their knowledge and stimulate discussion. If people are aware of the Earth's problems, they might focus on getting green jobs. There will always be a group which says that it's not their problem but it's the world's problem. However, good knowledge on the matter will mean you can use logic to persuade people to take action. One person's actions contribute to our world's protection, and you need to know the facts to decide what to do.

People's opinions about building back greener can be affected by where they are living. People should get education on building back greener. In Pakistan, people are not aware of building back greener. They are not keeping the environment clean. They should get aware of how to keep the surrounding's clean.
