Societal Effects Of COVID-19

No doubt the pandemic was an experience that will never be forgotten. The covid-19 pandemic took a lot of lives and also changed many lives.

My name is lively_measurement and I am from Nigeria- these are the effects the covid-19 pandemic impacted in my country.

First of all the educational system, all schools had to go on a complete lockdown due to the pandemic. In my school the experience of online classes was a new one for us. We encountered many difficulties that made the classes less effective, such as bad network and inexperience in navigating the app-Edmodo. Some of my classmates could not afford electronic devices and the data charges were almost unbearable but we still managed to pull through.

Outside the educational system many families could not afford and assess food stuff due to the lockdown and cost of almost all resources sky-rocketed. Many could not go to work which made them financially unstable and because they were not paid salaries, they had to face many difficulties and some even died out of starvation.

It would have been better if the Nigerian government took a greater step to meet the essential needs of its people during the covid-19 pandemic but they had a ton of problems on their hands already.

This is a great post, lively_measurement, although deeply saddening to hear. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you and your school, and for the Nigerian population in general. You say that it would have been better if the Nigerian government had taken greater steps to meet the population's essential needs. What kinds of policies or strategies do you believe the government should have implemented to improve the situation for its people?

Great, but in my country (lebanon), the first point you shared about education is a positive effect not a negative one, because we entered a new digital world we never used before which is learning online, a great step for future tho !

Hi storytelling_globe, thank you for your post, can you explain why you think learning online will be a great step towards the future? Can you research some of the technology that may need to develop for online learning to become more successful in the future?
