Palestine is wronged by global warming!

The issue of climate change in Palestine has become of great importance, and awareness has increased in light of the rapid changes in the Palestinian climate, that global warming is the cause of many negative effects that have affected large sectors of Palestinian life, such as water, agriculture, health, food security and others.

We also notice this problem greatly.

My country, the State of Palestine, has a limited impact on the issue of climate change, but it is located in the eastern Mediterranean region most affected by climate change.

Here the problem completes:

Low emissions with many negative impacts

Global warming injustice to countries:

The percentage of climate pollution in Palestine is less than 1% compared to other countries, and the percentage of per capita emissions in Palestine is very low, as it was estimated in 2011 about 0.8 tons of carbon dioxide emissions - the cause of global warming - in contrast. 7.5 tons per capita globally, and the controversy arose recently about new climate phenomena in the Palestinian territories, and it became clear that they are directly related to a global problem that changes the course of the globe and threatens its security in many vital sectors. .

The phenomenon of climate change in Palestine has great effects that have emerged clearly during the past years, and these phenomena have been represented by desertification, an increase in the number of droughts and soil degradation, and climate change has led to an increase in the minimum level. And the high temperatures in the summer and lows in the winter, in addition to an increase in hot summer days. In this regard, the Environmental Quality Authority confirmed that climate change was the reason behind the severe heat waves and severe weather that struck Palestine in the summer of 2015.

Water sources in Palestine are considered the most affected by global warming, as it had a clear effect on changing the rate of seasonal rainfall and its decrease in its quantities, as the rate of rainfall during the period 2003-2010 was less than the rate of rainfall. The historical average, and the number of torrential rain spells increased. The chances of flooding increased, especially in cities crowded with modest rainwater drainage networks, and droughts and high temperatures led to a decrease in water levels in the Jordan River and the Dead Sea.

Palestine is also exposed to thunderstorms that have had a negative impact on agricultural production, which exacerbated economic and social problems in terms of increasing poverty and instability, especially among local farmers, who do not receive adequate support from the official authorities.

Among the most damaging effects on the Palestinian environment as a result of climate change was the devastating wave of fires that struck Haifa, Jerusalem and other cities, devouring trees and forests, this wave of fires.

In terms of food security in Palestine, it was greatly affected in previous seasons as a result of climate change, as heavy rains and snow waves led to the death of poultry, sheep and cows on farms, which led to an increase in demand and a decrease in supply, which led to higher prices in certain seasons. The global effects of the spread of drought a few years ago led to a rise in world grain prices, affected the Palestinian economy, and decreased purchasing power.

I live in the Gaza Strip, where we have a very high population density. We do not have sufficient resources for a high density ratio, and most of us do not have sufficient awareness despite the large proportion of affected Gaza, where it was:

Rainwater decreases, water salinity increases, and water volumes increase. Pollution and diseases, as the Gaza beach is one of the most examples of pollution, as they pour sewage water into it.

Is global warming clearly visible in your country?

Has your country been oppressed because of the global warming of my country?
