Vice-presidential debate!

On the 7th October, the two vice-presidents, Senator Kamala Harris for the Democrats and Mike Pence debated. It was an interesting debate, with the last question from an 8th grader which shows that America is letting young people have their say. At one point, though, a fly landed on Mike Pence's head and stayed there for approximately two minutes! Let's look at some key parts.

One of the first questions asked was whether they had a conversation with their running mate about a plan of succession. Both candidates avoided giving a direct answer, but changed the subject to something else. Also, it was more civilised than the presidential debate. One political commentator described that debate as a "hot mess, inside a dumpster fire, inside a train wreck", according to Sky News. Still, there were a few interruptions, but definitely not as bad as the presidential debate. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic discussion took over, which also happened in the first debate. Kamala Harris said that the president's response to the virus as the "greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country''. She told Mike Pence that doctors, not Trump, should give vaccines. This was following the time when Trump said that coronavirus could be treated by injecting disinfectant into the body, despite his advisors saying that he was joking. Mike Pence protested back, accusing Joe Biden of copying parts of Mr Trump's plan for tackling COVID-19, stating: "It looks a little bit like plagiarism, which is something Joe Biden knows a little bit about." Furthermore, another of the questions that they did not answer was whether Trump will accept the election result. Many commentators are saying that the vice-president debate has very little impact on the election results. What do you think of the debate? Who do you think was the stronger character? Do you think that it will have an affect on the election? Feel free to comment.
