Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Hello, my name is Mary Ashbell. I'm 29 years old and a real estate agent at HappyHome Housing. What I'm concerned about is immigration and healthcare in America and the state I live in is worth 15 electoral points, its name is North Carolina and it's a swing state. This years election, I plan to vote for Joe Biden in this upcoming elections. Not just because I dislike Trump, but because I love the policies he plans for America, and he has good things planned for what matters to me the most.
How do you feel about tomorrows election?
I feel excited with millions of other citizens, as we get a new opportunity to change our lives. So many better things could happen if we elect a new president, they might even do what they promised in their campaigns, which many people across America will be so happy about, which will make America a happier and more comfortable place to be living in, and will hopefully welcome more tourists if we have a great president.
Why should people vote tomorrow?
People should vote tomorrow, because the people have the power to make a change to our lives, our freedom and our country. We could have better, more useful, more equal policies which will make America the democracy it was meant to be. It could make our country alot more adequate. Good change can happen, you would like that. Wouldn't you? So vote tomorrow in the election!
How powerful do you think your vote is?
I feel that my vote isn't very powerful, but slightly powerful in a way. The reason why I think it's not very powerful is because millions vote, and my vote could be nothing compared to the probably over 100,000,000 people who will vote in the election. And on a side note, the popular vote somehow doesn't matter! Only the electoral college matters! Which is completely unfair, isn't America a democracy? Shouldn't the people have a say? They should let us vote for who we want, instead of choosing the president via the electoral college system. The people need more power and freedom. But in the powerful side, lets say the popular vote is Donald Trump: 68,000,000 and Joe Biden: 68,000,000 too. If that were the case, my vote could make Joe Biden win the popular vote with 68,000,001. Which could make a difference in a way.
Can you explain why some people might not vote?
Like I explained, some people may not vote because they don't feel like their vote makes a difference, and isn't powerful at all. Some won't vote obviously because they aren't legally allowed to vote since they aren't 18. And some won't vote because they dislike both candidates, and they probably wont want either of the presidential candidates to get the role of President of the United States.
How do you feel about the voting system in America?
I think the voting system in America is unfair, because only the electoral points matter in the election, not the popular vote. This means the public don't get a say which doesn't make a democracy. The public should have the right to vote who they want, so all of us can be happier. America is a democracy, so just let our vote matter for once!
What about the presidency? Would you ever run for president? Why?
I wouldn't be able to run for president, because I'm not wealthy. So I won't have the money to run campaigns, and get into the list of people to vote for. Secondly, I'm not a powerful person and I'm not a popular person. Which also lowers my chance greatly, as people tend to vote for the people who have the most money, the best policies, the most convincing and best campaigns, and if they're popular or not.
My conclusion is that you should still vote even though your vote might not count, it could make a difference in the popular vote, and you could make many people and their supports happy. Vote for the person who has the policies your happy with, not what other people are voting. But at the same time, its your choice pretty much.
Thank you for reading my final piece! Have a nice day!
