My American Citizen's Pre-Election Interview
Hello! My name is analytical_sea! On this post I am writing an interview from the point of view of an American citizen.
Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Hello! My name is Scarlet Ravenstead. I am 19, and I am single. I am training to become a teacher and I love the environment. I live in Texas, which is worth 38 electoral votes.
How do you feel about the upcoming election?
I feel worried because I would hate it for Donald Trump to win again, because Trump doesn't care about education and the environment, which he clearly stated in his manafesto, and he wants to keep America separate from other countries where I definitely don't. This is for many reasons, one being that I have family in other countries whom like to come and visit me.
Can you explain why some people might not vote?
Well, there are many reasons but some people might not vote because they don't like either candidate although most people would choose the candidate they like more, but some wouldn't consider that.
How powerful do you think your vote is?
I think my vote is not too powerful as I am only one person out of millions, and although my state is worth 38 votes it is a republican state so it will naturally vote for Donald Trump as he is the republican, and I am voting for Joe Biden who is the democrat.
Why should people vote in the election next week?
People should vote because if they don't vote then they could end up with a president they don't want taking control.
How do you feel about the voting system in America?
I think the democratic system in America is very confusing because of all the electoral votes, unlike in the U.K. of all countries because there are no electoral votes or anything just a simple one-person vote, and the person with the most votes takes the place.
