My American Citizen's Election Interview

MY CHARACTER
Name: Ji-hoon Kim
Age: 19
Occupation: College Student at Harvey Mudd College
What matters to you in the presidential election? : Immigration and Education
How many electoral points is your state worth?: 55
How does your state usually vote?: Democratic
Who are you voting for?: Joe Biden
Could you be president yourself one day?: Yes
Can you tell me about yourself?
My name is Ji-hoon Kim. I am a 19 year old college student that currently lives in California. I am studying for a major in political science at Harvey Mudd. In my opinion, immigration and education are the most important factors to why I want to vote in the 2020 election. I think this because my parents were immigrants back in the 90's from South Korea, and hearing their experiences settling in America has inspired me to make a change, and to stop the stigma on immigrants. I also think education is a priority because there are flaws in the school system. The fact our country is viewed as a "first world country" and 258 million youth are out of school concerns me for the future of our children.
How do you feel about tomorrows election?
This is my second year voting and as last year, I feel very excited to see who will win! On the other hand, I am quite nervous. This is because I am settling for Biden and in 2016, Hilary was in the lead (like Biden) but Trump still won. It would sadden me if Trump gets to stay in the White House for another four years because his presidency was ineffective and didn't help the country much in general. But if Biden wins, it would mean the country would have another chance to improve and make it a better place to live for all citizens.
Why should people vote tomorrow?
People should vote tomorrow because every vote counts in helping the country to change our ways of life. We should recognise the importance of having the privilege in voting, as in other countries, citizens may not even have the right to vote like we do. To me, it's an expression of freedom and a chance to change the country for the better! If you are qualified to vote and choose not to for whatever reason, remember others have fought for your right to vote - make them proud.
How powerful do you think your vote is?
I believe my vote counts, but isn't very powerful because there are millions of other people who are also having to make the same choices as me. I usually think to myself, "how does one tiny vote make a difference?" but at the end of the day, it still matters because it's a way to get your voice across in society. Everyone has different opinions and you could be helping your party win the election just by registering to vote!
How do you feel about the voting system in America?
The voting system in America is definitely flawed due to the electoral vote being the sole purpose the president and vice president get elected, so what does the popular vote do? The whole point of the election get our voices heard, to give the people what they want and what the government is doing is exactly the opposite. Our voices are being held captive.
What about the presidency? Would you ever run for president? why?
It was my dream to change the world for the better when I was a child and being the president can exactly do that. I can barely juggle to pay my parent's hospital bills, hence this is also one of the reasons I am voting for Biden because he plans to have more accessible healthcare for more Americans, so I might be in debt for the years to come. Also, I'm studying political science at one of the most prestigous colleges in the U.S known for its academic difficulty, meaning I could be on the path to becoming a politian! If I did become president, I could potentially be the first Asian-American president, and this would be inpsiring to more young Asian children that anything is possible.
Conclusion:
Even if your vote doesnt count in the election it's a way of getting your voice heard across the world also to feel more apart of society and to those saying "I cant vote becasue I dont know which one will impact society for the better" you can research the candidate and their plans for the future this will determine which candidate is suitable for your liking.
thank you very much for reading my final peice.

his piece of writing was really stirring piece of writing comfortable_chemistry
It really shows that you've done a lot of research on this topic and that really shows in your final piece
One of the points that you said in your writing really made me think and say this is true and i agree which was
THE VOTING SYSTEM
1) The voting system in america is a very complicated way of voting and If I could change that rule i would you wanna now why well because there is are to type of critical Vote that we need for an American election to work first of the POPULAR VOTES.
2) Now the popular vote is when the country that the both 2 candidates are in now vote for who they would like to run there country for example me and you are both in Michigan We would let the people of Michigan vote for either one of us.
2) Now we also have a vote called ELECTORAL VOTES.
Now these are the votes hate, this is when each state from America would vote who they would love to have as president for the country they want to be president in. Now this is the pivotal part Let say you get most POPULAR VOTE and i get less you still don't win because It all counts on the ELECTORAL VOTES so basically the Popular votes don't counts But lets say I get more ELECTORAL VOTES then you then I will win. Well done comfortable_chemistry keep it up
A very strong answer, decisive_redcurrant. I notice it you've put it in two places to respond to two different Final Pieces. Thanks for spreading your word, but it's best to only put something in one place and if you want to comment on another Final Piece then give them a specific reply to theirs too.
