How does Social Media affect the Popular Vote?

Hello my name is flowing_strategy and today we will be discussing Social Media and the Election.

Social Media is pretty big, there are billions of users across the globe. Many people use it to share their views on things, and many use it just to have a chance at fame. But, there are also posts about the election on many platforms.

Many people are showing hate to Donald Trump, and showing what Biden could do. Particularly the popular platform of TikTok.

The people on those platforms have the ability to change peoples views on both candidates, which ultimately gives them some power over who people vote for. Like how many people are expressing that they will vote for Joe Biden instead of Trump.

Although, heres a con. Many people are voting for Joe Biden just because they dislike Donald Trump. The majority of people don't actually know what they are aiming for. Personally, I dislike Trump because of what he promises, like to continue building the wall, and ban travel to and from Muslim countries which I believe is unfair. But the main influence of the random voting, is probably social media. I'm not saying that I love Trump, but maybe people should actually check what both candidates aim for properly before they vote, instead of following what people say on social media.

Thanks for reading,

This is an excellent discussion starter, flowing_strategy and an important question too, so well done! Do you think it is right that people can find so much information about the election on social media? What are the benefits / risks of using social media as your main news source about the election?

I believe it is good that people can find information on social media about the election, but there could also be fake news, which is one of the risks of using it as your main course. Some of the benefits is that you can hear others opinions and hear things that you may not see on news channels. And cons/risks, is fake news like I mentioned eg. Joe Biden removed from election and Donald Trump automatically given 2nd term, you probably won't be able to tell whether it's fake or not without checking any other sources that (may) be reliable like BBC or sky.

well done flowing_strategy.There are lots of people in the world that are being rude to the candidate's family such as tik tok etc. Just because they dislike the candidate it doesn't mean the have to be rude to everyone in the family.

Hello flowing_strategy I really like your post. So here's my opinion.
I think that social media affects the popular vote by a lot because now days their is so much that you can spread fake news on Facebook, instagram, Wikipedia and many more. Before there wasn't much technology so there wasn't any social media it would have been easier to vote for who you wanted. The problem with social media is that you can post anything about anyone and quite a few people will believe you if you make it plausable. So with the American election people could post fake news about one of the candidates so people will change their mind on who to vote for.
If you ever come across news and your not sure whether it's true you could look on the news to see if it has come up their, or if it's about the candidate like their personal life for example you could search it up (but make sure it's not on Wikipedia because many people can edit it).If you do this then you will not get tricked in believing something that is not true.

Good Job flowing_strategy I agree most people need to see what each candidate promises before they get influenced and let other people.
