Do the two candidates lie about each other?

While the election has been happening both candidates have been lying about each other. Why?
- They have been lying to make the American citizens vote for them.
- To make you change who you were going to vote for.
How do they get the public believe them?
They earn the publics trust and argue over what is right or wrong they make it quite hard to tell what is true and what is false.
Do you think that this is right?

I think the both candidates lied about each other because they want the audience to vote for the person who seems very nice and will treat the country right.
They might get the public to believe them by making up lies about the other candidate.

No this isn't right but if you were running for president and you opponent was very intimidating and much of the public like them you would probably change the publics mind by lieing in some way. Now I don't want to offended anyone because it might not even be true but i know for sure that is what i would do. This often leads to arguments though throughout the news and the two opponents. Lies are found everywhere in the news thats why you need to check if it is that believable. If someone said that an opponent was on drugs then it would be fake because whoever did it know that they have all eyes and ears on them as they are very powerful so they know that they must be a goo roll model.
A very honest and interesting opinion, poetic_passionfruit. What do you think the consequences should be for a candidate who is found to be lying about their opponent?
