Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Hello,my name is Majenta Q-L and my daily occupation is being a doctor. My age is 36 and in the upcoming election I really care about too much immigration in the United States. As a doctor I am forced to treat all patients, which is very frustrating for me. Therefore I am planning to vote for Donald Trump - he promises to stop immigration by placing a bold wall between America and Mexico to prevent other Muslim countries coming into America.
How do you feel about tomorrow’s election?
I feel very infuriated about tomorrow’s election. My reasoning behind this powerful statement is because my state only holds three measly votes. Unfortunately, I also live in a swing state. That means I do not know which party my state will vote, it could go democrat or republican. I have no way of knowing.
Why should people vote tomorrow?
I believe that all people have an extremely important role as citizens to vote. It is imperative that everyone, whether or not you like Donald Trump or Joe Biden have a shot at voting. You are the deciders of the future - your vote could be the tie breaker! Don’t you want to try and choose the person that will be in charge of your country for the next four years? The candidate that you intend on winning may not get the role of prime minister but it is still worth a try at least.
How powerful do you think your vote is?
In my personal opinion, I believe that my specific vote is not particularly powerful. As I earlier mentioned, my state has very few electoral votes and everything depends on electoral votes. Even if the candidate wins over with the popular vote, it all comes down to your electoral votes. Your state could have the majority of the popular vote but if your state only has say 2 electoral votes, then you would not get your intended candidate.
Can you explain why some people might not vote?
Some people may not vote due to the strict criteria that you must abide by. In the United States you must be 18 and over to vote and if you are not born in America, you must be an American citizen and have lived in America for a long fourteen years to be able to vote. You do not have to have a clean, smooth criminal record to vote your decisive choice for the right president for America. Other people might not vote because they may not particularly like either candidates and cannot choose between either ones. Or some citizens just might not be bothered to vote.
What about the presidency? Would you ever run for president? Why?
I would always run for president. To be in charge of your country would be an honour - I would make multiple miniature changes and make sure that all of my tough decisions would be for the best for America. I would also be sure to attend to the homeless people’s needs, if I were president, I would make America a much better place.
How do you feel about the American voting system?
I feel that the American voting system is extremely unfair for people like me who are living in a state with three measly electoral votes. We unfortunately cannot change our states' electors. Some states have always had heaps of electoral votes and others very little, it is unavoidable. That is just the American voting system - I would like to change it!.
