Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Hello I’m Lily Mayer and I am 35 years old. I am a doctor in North Carolina. I began my career in 2008. My electoral votes are worth 15. What matters to me is Economy, Education and Climate Change because I need money for my medicines and bandages. Education matters to me too because learning is good for the human brain and you won’t be able to live and do well without it. Finally Climate Change matters because we need trees for most of our oxygen.
How do you feel about tomorrow's election?
I feel excited and nervous because I don’t know if the person I want to win (Joe Biden) is going to win. I feel excited because it is such an amazing thing to listen to like all the big news.
Why should people vote tomorrow?
I think people should vote tomorrow because every vote counts and one little vote could change everything. People should vote because if you are a swing state like me really everyone would probably be counting on you especially the candidates because they don’t know who could win.
How powerful do you think your vote is?
On a scale of one to ten I think my vote is five because my vote is worth fifteen points which means it is not 55 which is powerful but isn’t 3 which is not powerful but my vote might change the election.
Can you explain why some people might not vote?
I have three reasons. My first reason is the people might be under 18 so they can't vote. My second reason is that there might be a wheelchair ramp or lift or maybe there might be a long set of stairs and the wheelchair won’t have any accessibility. Finally, their electoral votes might be 3 and they might feel like their vote doesn’t matter but it does!
What about the presidency. Would you ever run for president?
I would run for president because I will be over 35 in the next election and I want to make big changes such as give more money to the hospitals because we can't afford to buy any medicines. I also want to grow more trees because they give us most of our oxygen. Finally, I would pay the schools more money because they need more school books, stationary and so much more.
How do you feel about the voting system in America?
I think the democratic voting system is both confusing, fair and unfair. Firstly, it is confusing because in the last election Hillary Clinton got more votes than Donald Trump but because of electoral votes Donald Trump won more states with higher electoral votes. Secondly, it is fair because you get to vote and the president's job is not passed on to another family member like North Korea. Finally, it is unfair because someone might live in a state with three electoral votes and might want to move because of their votes. You might say just move but they might not have the money to move.
