Winners Announced!
What a fantastic set of three sentence speeches! Choosing winners was incredibly hard because of such a high standard in your entries.
We awarded stars for the entries we thought were most original and expressed ideas in a particularly strong or unique way.
Our primary winner this week is eager_reflection of Cheam Park Farm Primary School, who powerfully expressed why it's important to vote and it be your decision and not influenced by someone.
Our secondary winner is honest_bird of Ormiston Six Villages Academy, who got their point across in a short and concise way - and would therefore have a big impact on anyone listening. Well done to all who took part!
This week, we're setting you a challenge...
138 million Americans voted in the last presidential election in 2016. However, this was only 58% of those eligible to vote (over 18). That means 42% - or 4 in 10 Americans - did not vote.
This can be down to many reasons: for example, some people might not be interested, or feel they don't know enough, or feel they don't like either of the candidates.
Lots of organisations exist to encourage people to vote: like Rock the Vote, and lots of charities help the people they support to vote with "Get out the vote" efforts.
Imagine you have been asked to write a speech telling people why it is important to vote, but you have only 3 sentences. What would you write?
Remember, your speech is encouraging people to use their right to vote.
YOU ARE NOT TELLING THEM TO VOTE FOR A PARTICULAR PERSON!

Your vote counts, it really does count because your one vote could give election to a candidate. So please do vote, but make sure you vote the a candidate who is capable and responsible enough to be president or priminister.
Everyone who can vote should vote because kids can’t vote so they depend on you to use your vote and use it wisely. You should use your vote because some people physically cant vote so technically you are lucky you have a vote. Even if you don’t know enough about the candidates, you can learn more about them because as I stead before some people can not vote for various reasons so you should figure out a way you can learn more. Another reason is that we are lucky that we have a democracy country as countries like North Korea have a dictatorship. If you live in a state that has the least electoral votes it can still have a massive difference on who's the President is. Using your vote is like using your voice- just at the very end, it'll come naturally, such as after you are hesitant to speak. Use it, or lose it, as it effects the entire system of equality and wellbeing positively, such as it might differ not only who you see as your leader, but also how you see yourself portrayed as them. It would also in a way make you feel like you have some power and authority, and that you shouldn't decide on others, because in the end it is the voter that should have the true rights.
